Hey Patryn,

I was waiting to pull the trigger on the Zenith Port Royal Open preowned year 2006 (which means I need to send it for servicing if I were to buy it)
Then I came upon this.

http://www.ashford.com/ashford/browse/prod...jump&navCount=4

Brand new, although from grey.
Almost same price.
A more desireable (for me) rubber strap.
Do you have any coupons for extra discounts? laugh.gif

You can find Mitch & Marc boxes in Metrojaya (saw in MV) and Tangs (Pavilion). Not cheap though.
I got my generic unbranded one from Hang Thai (SS2).

after searching high and low, for a military watch, i think the Laco Marine Luminous (miyota movement) would suit my budget and thirst for one. ruled out the steinhart, as i've got the russion aviator.

but is the Miyota auto movement something to be happy with? not much info i could find on it. good work horse? cos that would be just fine for me tongue.gif

why rule out steinhart as U've got a Russian aviator? Steinhart is German brand swiss made.
Miyota is essentially citizen. it is non hacking.
here are the details.

Nothing wrong with the movement. Rotor a bit noisy and non-hackiing.

Re Miyota movement, ck77 is right, rotor is a bit noisy, and the second hand has known to have a 'stutter' issue (luckily mine is fine).

With Laco now charging shipping fees, I think it would be worth to consider Steinhart.

i was kinda looking out for a pilot watch feel, so the aviator kinda sits well at the moment. im still very inclined to get a steinhart as its a swiss piece like u said tongue.gif hehe. and thanks for the links dude. didnt know its by citizen. nice.

@ck77
ah, nice...with all the seiko autos i have, non-hacking seems to be the norm. haha.

@Chinoz
HAHAHA! if i get a person glaring at me or cursing me i'll know its YOU! laugh.gif

over all i think its a nice piece..something i dont have yet. reasonably priced also.

Beautiful watch kakashi. Is that yours?

If so....from one fellow JLC owner to another. Cheers! The Extreme W-Alarm is f'in amazing. Beautiful sonorous sound coming from that Memovox bell!

Here's my Master Compressor Memovox Automatique being inspected by a JLC technician at one of their boutiques.
It is almost precisely calibrated, beating at 28,803 bph.

hanz, how did the Ashford deal work out for you? I asked their customer service agent about another watch in the Daily Deals section but got no further discount (it's a 900 dollar watch anyway).

On the Port Royal, he was willing to take 100 off up front, probably could gone further if the potential buyer had persisted. Just fyi, good luck on the purchase biggrin.gif
