QUOTE(jjamain @ Nov 24 2011, 06:14 PM) It took 5-10 mins for me to flash for better performance and extended UI. What about restoring apps? My last count on the number of apps and services I've backed up on TitaniumBackup is close to 300 elements, not to mention ebooks, PDFs, emails, SMSes, work files, and app save datas. To restore those will take time. If you leave your Note barebones with no apps, of course la flash/restore takes 5-10 minutes. Those who have finally decided to USE their devices instead of going flash-crazy, will have a hard and long time restoring their apps and files back in working order. Do you have nothing much installed on your Note?I hv unifi where download big file is not a problem Bottom line is, a line has to be drawn somewhere. I always like improved performance, but when custom ROMs appearing like mushroom after a rainy day, when do you stop flashing and start USING your Note? |

Isn't that what LOGICALLY should happen? You want your Note to RETAIN signal reception when moving AWAY from the source? |

QUOTE(jjamain @ Nov 24 2011, 06:57 PM) So you use your Note as a flashing device, with your SGS as your phone? You don't expect others to follow suit with this "use one phone, flash the other" mentality, do you?Samsung should've be grateful that they have someone like you who troubleshoot and do ROM updates on their behalf, and not getting paid to do so too! That is supposed to be their job , not the end user. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Nov 24 2011, 07:04 PM |

Voicing it out and troubleshooting solves this kind of problems, everything now is very dependent on user base, a large user base like SGS have their hands on an alpha build ICS. Imagine if one day everybody stops flashing, the developers can stop and there goes a bunch of people screaming for new ROMs. its a cycle my friend. |

At first it seems fun to keep flashing rom but after a while when I have more apps and data in the phone, i feel very reluctant to flash a new rom and setup my homescreen and everything all over again - it will take me at least half a day to setup everything to where they should belong or behave. At the end, for my previous Desire and Desire HD, I stop flashing totally unless there is a huge changes/improvement in the custom rom. Bottom line is, a line has to be drawn somewhere. I always like improved performance, but when custom ROMs appearing like mushroom after a rainy day, when do you stop flashing and start USING your Note? And one more thing about custom ROM - although they bring improvement to the stock rom but they will also brings bugs, some might be just minor. The more extra features the custom rom has, the more bugs it will brings. Thus the ever updates of the custom rom coz they are constantly fixing some bugs and in the same time make some. So for the Note, I dun think I will flash a custom rom as long as the stock rom is stable. BUT i do find out that my keyboard will Force Close some time if i type too fast. |

I certainly don't want Samsung to stop producing more firmware updates, but they don't produce updates in crazy frequency like the custom ROMs. You're running the phone down to the ground as experimental guinea pig to ROMs produced by someone you don't know, and no idea of the integrity or security of the said ROM. The guy could just program backdoor and keystroke logger to your accounts and transmit it back to them for their own malicious use. QUOTE(Cynox @ Nov 24 2011, 07:12 PM) are you using wifi-N router? Secure? How do you know? It will make our phone stand out even more and looks more personalized.... Phones nowadays are becoming some sort of a personal assistant, and by personalizing it into your own style, it would feel much better. This is why i didnt choose iPhone becoz its boring when evrybody have one. haha i dont install tones of apps, i dont need to backup smses, so not a big deal for me, once i flash it would normally take 10 to 15 mins to have my phone back functioning nicely ^^ i dont understand why do people install like 100 to 300 apps, not every app are used and most have the same functions. I play games more often hehe. |

First of all., to all those flasholic (sp?), go get a SGSII non-G version where you can spend every minutes of your life flashing custom roms. That phone got tons of custom roms for you to ply on. But Note.?
I thought when i buy this phone my life can take an easy path of quiet and peaceful thread but boy., am i wrong. With only two and three custom roms available for Note, this thread becomes chaos already ~~lolol~~ |
