Did anyone with an N55SF update their graphics driver lately?
I have recently updated it to NVIDIA 301.42 and the Windows Experience Index dropped back to 4.8 for graphics :\

4.8 is for AERO or gaming graphics? Any performance increase or decrease noticed during gaming?

Aero graphics. It was much higher before when I originally set it up (5.9 was the lowest).

In regards to gaming, I don't think there's an increase or decrease in performance and if so, it is negligible. One thing I did note though, while playing Saints Row 3, it doesn't seem to work on DX 10/11 mode for some reason (might be the game's fault) and it seems to be running on Intel HD Graphics 3000 instead of NVIDIA GT 555M.

Not even N46.. I guess ASUS is following Apple's footstep then. Make a minimalist design similar to Apple's, put in shitty specs and voila! a "better" laptop than its predecessor doh.gif

I seemed to stumble across alot of complaint threads on ASUS FBOOK wall and also quite a number of complaint threads in LYN on their aftersales service. Now giving me second thoughts on ASUS brand in general.. Any opinion guys?

Saints Row 3 runs off Steam so you can't right click and "Run with Nvidia...". Even so, the settings are set to Nvidia on default (I changed it). It should automatically detect anyways.

I never had a problem with their after sales service and I hope it stays that way. Their online support is pretty responsive and helpful too.

Yea I did, but it's hard to tell if it really is using NVIDIA over integrated graphics.

Anyways, I'm still curious if anyone else had a decrease in rating after upgrading their drivers.

damn... which is which now? is it really FHD or just HD? There are people selling the N56 right now and they say its HD only. And someone from the G series thread also called Asus to clarify on this matter, they also say its only HD not FHD. Asus.. why are you so confusing

The decrease in rating might be caused by any of these newly implemented features in 301.42:
- NVIDIA FXAA
- Adaptive VSync
- Frame Rate Target
- Surround

In my experience, I never had such a decrease in rating after updating Nvidia driver.
Anyway, I would prefer to use Asus version of Nvidia driver. I'm currently using Asus Mobile 296.10: Graphics: 6.9, Gaming Graphics 6.9 biggrin.gif

Lol, no need to looking forward to FHD for 15" laptop. FHD in 15" laptop is a mere marketing gimmick in my opinion: HD+ (1600x900) I think better suit 15" laptop.
In getting the most of FHD, you screen must be 17.3".

p.s. Coming back (migh be for a while tongue.gif )
