So this mean, N55 will need an assistance of notebook cooler ya? on its own, will be quite heaty?

Yesterday, went to Lowyat Plaza to satisfy myself, played with the buttons and everything.

Also compared to DV6, and XPS... I think I kinda like N55.

Almost everywhere selling at RM2799 or RM2699(but only with 640GB instead of 750GB) But Sri Computers offered RM2799 with FREE 4GB RAM upgrade. and silly 8in1 free gift which I knew gonna be all crappy stuffs.

So, how guys? Get RM2680-RM2699 from LYN sellers better? Coz IINM, the RAM is cheap.. Around RM60 can get adi.
*
maybe u can go scout around. I don't buy in kl so i don't know the market there. But i managed to get 2560 without freebies(cuz they are mostly crap) smile.gif so plus ram upgrade u should be able to get below 2650?
Notebook cooling wise have to ask the sifu2 here cuz from what i see from forum asus laptop nowadays bottom very few n small vents. I wonder how effective is using cooling pad on n45/55. I myself are looking for zalman nc2k but need opinions. My cpu temp shoot up to around 90c n max 96c while playing nfs the run. Quite scary. Hmmm

Hi n45sf Users and Sifus..

Why does my CPU / turbo monitor keep on turboing all night long / non-stop boosting between 2.83Ghz and 2.88Ghz after few minutes of Windows start-up and during any idle time since couple days ago?? is it rosak already due to gaming or any other apps caused this?

Anyone experienced it ??.. can it be fixed or need to reformat??

i dont want to use throttle stop app anymore as it has caused my turbo to stop working ago!.. hehe..  icon_question.gif

urs is N45 or N55 bro? For N45, err, not really hard to disassemble it, u need to put the screw properly though, coz a lot of screws. and u really need to disassemble it FULLY(except the screen) only u can access to the cpu/gpu.
*
N45 bro. r u going to change paste again? cuz from previous post u said ur tunix is 'defective'? perhaps if u plan to change again den can take a few pics to show n guide us ppl. xD apparently u can make a guide like this if u have spare time lah. brows.gif btw removing heatsink will void warranty? hmm.gif

ya same guys, i'm N45SF users also having this problem. and quite frequently. Perhaps need to let asus know? And regarding the thermal paste, ya i wanna change also lol, but not within this week i guess, i'll need to order new thermal paste first, and of course if i change i'll be ok to post a guide for u guys xD
*
report again? sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif spam again? LOL wonder who else got this problem... hmmm usually play games for a few times for long hours, you r sure to get this hanging problem, then ur speaker will distort n produce static noise, comp super laggy but the game hang. cannot exit windows, end task whatsoever. only power button or pull adapter sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif btw this time will still use tunix or change brand? brows.gif thinking of arctic mx4, arctic silver 5 or IC diamond... rclxub.gif

lol, not tx4 again i guess, maybe artic mx4, ic diamond also not bad lol. But really dunno@@
*
laugh.gif i aso confused.. think i go for mx4 lo. as5 got slight chance conduct electricity

Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)

IC diamond very good, but since it has carbon, it can be mildly abrasive & costly. so i'll be likely to go for MX4 biggrin.gif

Hey all smile.gif  quite satisfied with the N45SF so far. I actually find myself liking the weird design  shocking.gif  i have one question tho, hope sifus can give some views. The speakers are awesome  smile.gif  but there seems to be some static/snowy sound, especially when it comes to higher pitched sounds. Not all songs have this, but more common when it comes to Buble-type jazzy/saxxy songs. Noticed this playing Buble Christmas. Other pop songs seldom have this prob. Should i be worried? Thanks  smile.gif
*
no it shouldn't be worry. xD all the N series got this minor problem too? Actually not speaker problem. IMO it's the keyboard vibrating when the sound is high pitch? If you try to touch both sides of the keyboard u will reduce the 'vibrating" sound hmm.gif

Almost the same like me.. crysis / bf3 / MW3 ~ GPU (MSI AFTERBURNER) around 75 to 86c, CPU around 85 to 94c (CORE TEMP) in P4G high performance/etertainment now... Previously, i found my CPU temp up to 100c when the "halo 3 game.exe" virus?? running hiddenly!.. but not anymore after remove it smile.gif ..

However, I've found some easy solutions of getting a lowered/better temp while heavy gaming as above mentioned lowest temp lately..which are;
1. decreasing/adjusting the maximum AND minimum processor state in any P4G plan (plug mode only)...  (me.. better in p4g battery saving plan with highest display brightness, no sound in office plan but lots better temp) in the advance setting to below 100 during hot / sunny day environment.. like around 90 to 95.. (depends on ur lappy needs i guess).. but this setting will caused tiny lagging in the graphic performance ~ ultra setting, but smooth/normal at medium setting..

2, Try to let some gap around 0.5cm or higher height when u put on any notepad cooler underneath ur lappy.. OR highering / expose your under-lappy with high/better air-ventilation or with a net-aluminium type cooling pad OR using the small usb table fan / any type of fan .. hehe.. thumbup.gif .. whatever method/idea of cooling down is up to u to decide and ive found it helps a bit of lowering down the cpu n GPU temps as well.. ( try avoid the NB-FT1 evercool heat sucker as its really sucks! hehe.. sorry evercool / i mean not worth for our particular n45sf when the temp exceed 80c!.. ) hahaha..  icon_rolleyes.gif

thats all i got and have a good try!..  smile.gif

But lets hear from others as perhaps they might have done some better temp cooling workout!...
arent u guys?? ...  icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank u again for saving my reformat thinking.. hehehe  notworthy.gif

planning to get zalman nc2000 but dunno how effective is it hmm.gif btw my current solution to lower temp while playing games is throttle stop n change the clock modulation sweat.gif thx for the above suggestion xD i wonder who is adventurous to do this mod. confirm cooler brows.gif brows.gif

MSI? hmmm no comments cuz never try before.. but MSI is a motherboard company so their MB should be alright in terms of quality. Asus... no questions lah. i7 would be a better choice lah! but IMO bigger RAM will play more role hmm.gif upgrade to 8GB. depends on your budget too. Running these softwares on i5 is not a problem at all. It performs very well IMO but definitely better with i7 due to its quad core but at a higher power consumption (bad if u r on the go, battery dependent) & will it be worth the 800 diff? doesn't matter if money is not a problem lah brows.gif . so the choice is yours biggrin.gif can ask for sifus opinion here as well.

it depends which priority you put first... If you go Mac mainly for it's design, then i suggest Asus/windows laptop it's more practical. If you are going for Mac for it's graphic editting apps then Mac all the way. icon_rolleyes.gif If u can do a Hackintosh then you will have the best of both worlds minus Apple's design hmm.gif well I don't know if anyone here in this forum have done Hackintosh on N45/55 series... anyone who knows how are welcome to share.
