QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jul 17 2007, 01:00 PM) da hairdyyer..i saw some groomers using vacumn cleaner, isit special for dogs or its easier 2 dry them up? Hmm...Those earning point is come from regular customer. wondering y my breeder says lots of groomers earn up lots cos of grooming oni. weird. just cos skills they r famous..? The 1st impression is important . Once the grommer did a mistake will scare away a customer . And skill is the main point , secondly will be the Groomer or a shop owner behavior. Anyway summer ss2 pet shop owner is just concentrate money and money , but some pet shop they very friendly when come customer got problem . But my gf's friend open pet salon , normally she will just do regular customer . sumtimes if is good bussiness..ok full booking. if is free , 1-2 dogs a day for basic grooming... |

Added on July 17, 2007, 1:07 pm so might be very risky ler. samor starting cost so high. never tot of all those, electricity bills, scissors.. never think thru my big brain. i think every bussiness is the same. Have to do proper calculation. never mind if u haven think that way , at least u understand what it need before open a pet shop or neither a pet salon , Because i saw my gf friend do pet salon also half dead , and she one person do all...at the moment got a maid so far so good . Yes sumtimes my gf envy those people actually own a pet shop but if is a bussiness i dun think is easy . Hahaha , never mind ur lil brother is still so young , long way to go |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jul 17 2007, 09:07 AM) no ar..i say u go take grooming course ar.. hmm i dunoe about it.. never thought of taking grooming course yet.den u can groom ur own Hugo according 2 ur creativity lor. now i juz wan to take care of my son and hugo, even after my son went kindergarden. hehe.. QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jul 17 2007, 11:11 AM) haha ya its bout rm10k n above.. err.. im not planing to work.. coz taking care of a child and a dog is tiring already... ( If working at home i wan la) LOLbut i think its worth it ler, if ur not working n u plan 2 work. groomers sometimes earn more than a professional teacher / doctor. next yr my son go kindergarden already so i wan to giv myself more time to relax, enjoy life and play with hugo. Or sometimes can bring hugo go gaigai without my son.. (my son is a spoiler) lol Taking up grooming courses can make my time tight.. and i like feeling free. not tat nothing to do "free", is like no time-consuming "free". lol. QUOTE(jtl @ Jul 17 2007, 12:54 PM) This is assuming the groomer works 30 days a month (based on your assumption that the groomer does not need off days) All these things make me blurr.. my math very poor.. calculation poor. i hate to count.. ZzzZZzAlso, it is highly impossible to groom 5 dogs a day if there is no helper/staff, unless you pull 14 hour days and based on your assumption that all the dogs that come for grooming are not matted and are in good condition. Anyways, back to your calculation: Cost of operations: Rental of shop lot in medium location in KL - RM3,000 per mth (Bangsar is at least RM10 - 15k) Electricity and Water - RM500 per month Shampoo (based on 5 dogs a day) - RM100 per month Total Basic Cost - RM3,600 per month Total balance - RM2,100 Start Up Capital (basic - there's more but I am too lazy to list out): Clipper - RM600 Scissors set - RM1,000 Grooming Table - RM600 Normal Hairdryer - RM150 Water Heater - RM200 Shop Renovation (Basic)- RM20,000 Grooming Course - RM10,000 Total - RM32,550 Assuming you get 5 dogs a day and you earn a net of RM2,100, you need to work 15.5months to cover your start up capital. In that 15.5 months, you will need to spend on clipper blades, new scissors, sharpening of scissors, new hairdryer, etc.. Like I said, there are a lot of other cost involved, but too lazy to list out. So, owning a grooming shop is not necessarily profitable. |

yesterday was talking to the owner of the house of groomers (they have grooming school) and how he started it blah blah etc but i wont post it here la i think its personal.but even through they are famous, wining the champion grooming competition this year and lots and their dogs are well known in show ring they still work 7 days a week and close around 12am so its hard work.... remember success was not planted yesterday and bloom today.its hard work ( working long hours and getting satisfied cust back),luck (wining competitions) and branding (pr and 1st grooming school i think and also one of the best in malaysia)
