That is normal with silky terrier lah.... all will fade from puppy fur.

Almost all long haired dogs will have fading fur.... if you want to know the outcome of your pup, compare it with the parents. True blacks and black and white shih tzus would never fade until they reach old age, where they will turn a bit grey. Brown Blacks are black when puppy time but as they age, the black won't be so dark and there can be some browning as they grow older.

Other colours will fade.... Read on:

Last time i got ask Junnie regarding why so many shihtzu colour will fade including Pretty colour is white and cream wan ...so Junnie say last time she feed what dog food ( i forget edi ) ...but she just use FIDO shampoo long time ago ..but now use good shampoo already ...even though JUnnie long time ago use FIDO shampoo to her furkid but BUBU and CHACHA colour never fade...and so nice...she say maybe cause of lack of nutrition . Main point will be the dog food

Colour fading and colour change is due to genes.... read the links I have given. Shampoo, normally the cheap ones have added chemicals which can bleach the fur, not fade it.... in order to know the true colour, view the sire and dam.
