QUOTE(rattan @ Dec 26 2011, 04:50 AM)
This was the case for streamyx as we were limited with download and upload speed. As more people join the bandwagon (unifi/maxis hsbb/time hsbb), we all will require less international gateway bandwidth.

Reason being is that, more local sources will be deployed with the ready and expanding infra. TM had this in their mind when they were designing the deployment of Unifi. We have symmetric internet speed (download and upload) therefore, every PC is capable of becoming a peer in the near future to serve local demand.

Im sure some company out there will see this potential and come out with a solution so that the whole unifi community can become a central hub/source of data.

On a micro scale I can point out the Unifi Hub started by rizvanrp. Mind you this is just a peer to peer file sharing. As Unifi expands with the high upload speed, every machine is capable to do beyond what we can imagine.

I truly hope this short piece of explanation will peel off some of the skepticism off the mind of less knowledge equipped on the long term evolution we are heading towards.

All said and done, as the saying goes - Give light and people will find the way.

cool.. sure that will be the case if ppls r using country aware p2p apps that give preference to local peers. the majority of ppls do not and use standard apps that will download randomly and in most cases international peers... traffic will be directed outwards = international bandwidth

for example if microsoft have update servers in malaysia...
if youtube has servers in malaysia...
if the popular file hosting providers hv mirrors in malaysia.....
if .... laugh.gif
if these things happen then we can have a "contained internet" that doesnt rely much on international link...
but we those things didnt happen.. for what u said to work a big group needs to work together la not just simple things... rolleyes.gif

chengsiong,try buffer this at "original" rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

4096 x 2304 , I am sure the 20Mbps Unifi can't handle smooth streaming for this.

Do as my friend does, he did not terminate his old phone as backup if his Unifi phone died. While Unifi says you MUST terminate, you can actually discuss with them to not terminate
*
Cause currently I make alot of calls on my existing number and alot people call me on that number. Which is why it seems so important for me to maintain that number and the cheap call rates provided by existing Streamyx Blockbuster deal.

Microsoft have several update hosting servers in Malaysia and Singapore, and Google has set up a Youtube mirror in Malaysia as well (Celcom will automatically load video from here if you are using it's broadband service) thus I don't see why you are saying it's not happening yet
