Is the stock DIR-615 router really N300 router?

http://www.dlink.com/DIR-615

I seriously feel like its sub quality. My room is just one floor up directly above the router and the signal is so poor I can only get 30% of the full bandwidth.

The UniFi VOIP line can't be the same number. Only option is to terminate Streamyx only and keep the telephone line with your existing number and continue paying rental for that. Not much though. That's what I did for my house. So end up with 2 tel numbers.
*
I know I can keep my existing line, but I want to be able to make cheap calls on my existing line instead of using the Unify VOIP line.

unifi voip line gives you free calls to landline TM numbers.

But I want to make those call on my existing number. Basically it's pretty f***ed up that there is no 'MNP' even within their own infrastructure (Streamyx to Unify)

Please understand, TM is trying to eliminate/reduce copper lines in the future. They are moving to fiber optics. If you want to keep your existing number, just dont terminate it. Bonus you get another line in with unifi.

I also have a lot of things I want which I don't get. This TM landline UniFi phone number thing included. Let TM & MCMC know about your dissatisfaction. Remember there was a time when there was no such thing as MNP.

Then it will be more expensive for me to pay the phone line rental unnecessarily. I don't need another line with Unifi. What more a line that will be down when electricity is down.

Just gotten Unifi 10MB the other day. Took a while since my house was in the 15th floor, and the Unifi installer need to ping from my phone socket to the phone box room at the bottom floor. But once he found my line, it was smooth

IPTV took a while to work tho, but then again, the channels are just blegh. I am now using it to watch local TV station only. I wished it had Discovery Channel instead of NatGeo (Music? WTF is NatGeo Music?). If it does, I would have subscribed

Connection wise I can get 8~9MB/s on average (since the fibre is not direct to the house but ends at the copper phone connection, a limitation of high rise homes), but I am satisfied with it. biggrin.gif

Do as my friend does, he did not terminate his old phone as backup if his Unifi phone died. While Unifi says you MUST terminate, you can actually discuss with them to not terminate

Yes can instruct them not to terminate. Can be arranged. Not a difficult issue.

Try asking them if you can keep that line. IIRC they will do the termination from their side if you want to terminate. Thankfully for me this is a new house and it does not have a phone line yet, thus I don't have to go through the hassle of termination
