Feeling really itchy to grab a new keyboard... the other day was wiping my OCZ Illuminati Alchemy... the rubber keycaps gets really sticky and wearing off ._.

Wanted a Leopold brown switch... but seems like no stock and I'm getting impatient lol... thinking to grab a Ducky DK9008S... any recommended sellers? any pros and cons compared to a Leopold FC500 brown switch? or I should be considering a Filco instead... Side note, these keyboards, don't come with rubber keycaps right...? :S

@cyclone, i think use manual sanding will be very difficult to achieve the texture from sandblasting, similar concept to gunpla modeling when you do brush paint and spraypaint... the texture and uniformity is different league...

I'm avoiding rubber key cap at all cost now >_<

How does the Filco compare to a Ducky?

I'm currently deciding between a Filco Majestouch 2 (Brown switch) and Ducky DK9008S - Shining N-Key Rollover Mechanical Keyboard (Brown Switch). I'm leaning towards the Ducky as it is a little cheaper, comes with lights and multimedia keys, but I'm new in this is there anything from the Filco that I should also consider? I want one that will last. ~RM479 vs ~RM439 :S.

Some says filco always the best choice, some say ducky more than enough. Some say bla bla bla...

Ahh, dang tough part is I can't get to try those keyboards... my choices is now only RM479 versus RM439... RM40 apart... I know Filco is a premium brand... but the Ducky 9008s isn't that cheap either... worth going for the Dusky instead of Filco? Or Filco is still the best to go for... any QC issues with these?

If you are looking for over 90% peace of mind(heard their DOA and warranty rate are really low due to their decent QC), go for FILCO.

If you are looking for more features(USB NKRO, Detachable wire, multimedia keys, LED Backlit and some more) or aesthetic(thin frame, backlit), go for Ducky.

Do note another important deciding/differentiating factor are the type of modifiers used, steel-wire style(costar) or cherry "X" dummy switch style. The first will feel more natural or similar to other normal sized keys while the later may feel stiffer. On the keycaps removal part, the first require a little skills while the former is easy as plucking normal keys.

Btw, don't keeps your hope high, mainly because the one that i receive are sample unit which is the same as the link you provided.

From what they told me, it has been improved, and currently now, first batch of FC700 is currently in shipment proceeding to Korea from manufacturer as we're talking. In the next few weeks, there will be the official keyboard feedback which is not the sample.

I was stating that "hoping" Leopold would escape from those problems/flaws faced by Keycool. Cause from the pictures I seemed so far, I didn't notice any/significant offset in keys in the new Leopold. Possible it is due to different steel plate been used(refer to my Keycool review for more info).

Well, i think you need to compare between Filco and Ducky 9008G2 rather than 9008S. 9008S has back lid which the "features" overtake standard Filco keyboards.

now, 9008G2 PBT edition around RM420 only

Not sure. I believe the quality/durability is not to be solely judged by the deepness. Though, theoretically, the thicker(deeper), the better. tongue.gif

When I first show the pictures, you all said maybe not deep, so it might not last. doh.gif
Then I heard stuff about they are cheaply made because it is Made In China doh.gif
Now I show deep dye sublimation, it's non-environmental friendly. doh.gif

What next? China made PBT contain carcinogen?
Made in China does not mean it sucks. Yes, there are examples where it is not good. But credit is given where credit is due.

Btw, the keycaps from KBC are made in Taiwan. Likely the dye sublimation is from Taiwan too but I cannot prove that.

Ducky 9008G2 PBT Brown switch is RM419 where else the 9008S is RM439 right? I would definitely pay for the extras given that sort of price differences... now just thinking if the Filco Majestouch 2 is worth considering?

Ah just noticed, 9008S is using ABS and not PBT... is the differences critical?

Filco = premium stuff
Whether worth to pay for a premium stuff, it is a subjective question with no definite answer. Though, for those who can afford it and bought it, so far nobody actually reported to regret about it.

For Ducky, it isn't exactly the top notch built quality(though most normal and not extremely picky users should find it more than enough). If you faced DOA, do your warranty claim then. If you like the features(USB NKRO, Multimedia keys, simple and sophisticated design), then it still worth to go for it(Ducky).

For ABS vs PBT part, it should not be the deciding factor here.
Backlit keycaps for sure is ABS(mostly) and PBT cannot be made into BL keycaps. Also, the feel and resistant to shine on BL keycaps isn't decided by the ABS part but the black coating/painting on it.

In short, if you want peace of mind and top notch quality, go for FILCO.
If you want more features(BL, USB NKRO, Multimedia keys) or more durable keycaps(Ducky PBT), go for Ducky.
