Do you guys know of any people in Malaysia distributing some Noppoo Choc Mini? I've been dying to get my hands on one of those T_T
*
Just a Taobao away, isn't?
I believe Taobao will provide a better price and the shipping will be reasonable/cheap as Chc Mini is small(thus lighter).

hey fellas, I'm thinking of picking up a mech keyboard for my daily use. Been stalking this thread for couple of times. biggrin.gif

Last time I posted a question on "Blackwidow Ultimate, why the hating/ignore?" I heard the coming stealth edition is going to be cherry brown, should I get it?

Or are they any Zarmor mech keyboard users around here?
*
The built quality of Razer BWU is very sucks and though sometimes even causing problems. Though, it will be like tossing a coin, some ppl got and some ppl pass(though i cant deny that some of the ppl simply too blinded by the bling bling of razer, neglecting those issues).

Razer BW Stealth come with brown and matte surface, thus possibly less 2 problem than normal razer(blue switch on BW is having inconsistent quality, brown may face those problem less).

BTW, afaik razer don't sell Stealth edition through distributor(at least at the moment), thus it is hard to get them in Malaysia if you dont import.

Zarmor? I think you mean Xarmor. Some ppl say the keyboard is fine and some say it sucks(mostly on keycaps issue)

Which is the best backlit model? Leopold has no backlit if im not mistaken? Looking at mx brown switches.
*
Yup, Leopold no backlit model. Though, it is among the best choice if you are not despo for BL.

Can't tell which is best/worst as there isn't a guideline to rank/folo.

Though, for quality wise, we suggest you go for those well-known brand/OEM(manufacturers).
Mionix seems appealing as it's OEM is Costar(same as Filco)
Xarmor is iOne which having some bad records but some of their keyboards also quite well-made, thus cant comment much.
Razer BWU, rumor to be manufactured by iOne too(though Squarebox disagree and suggest may be Costar instead) and it is having serious QC problems. An imperfect BWU will be an eyesore to you if you are the picky type.
Deck, more to the premium/vintage brand which you pay premium price for premium quality but normal specs.
Ducky and Noppoo, China/Taiwan brand, quite experienced brands in manufacture Mech KB, but some say they also having some QC problems. Though, they offering more features such as NKRO most others above.

Personally, I find the height of Ducky is a major design flaw. It make reduces the overall typing experience.
Generally, the lower it is the more comfortable it will be from a ergonomic stand-point.
The lowest mechanical keyboard that I have came across are from Cherry but due to the Plate-Mounted(rage-proof) hype, Cherry keyboards didn't stand a chance but end-users are not their target from the very beginning.
*
You mean the new Cherry Keyboard that is exclusive in China one? The one with ultra low profile that is almost flat out like scissor switch? The one that having Logitech G series keyboard looks?

It will be good for those that used to low profile keyboard but I afraid that pressing one key will also dragged the other keys below it. It will be hard to press them down deep enough.

P/S: Cant seems to dig out the picture of the keyboard. Most probably posted by Storm88/Cyclone, i forgot.

well, have to agree with this, i think the new Cherry keyboard G80-3800 has some serious flaw in it, 4mm switch deep and flat profile.

Btw, i gonna start my wood casing project soon. Wood that i will be going to use a "Kayu Batu" which is a heavy hardwood. some of my house wood furniture are made by my dad using "Kayu batu" which surprisingly remains in superb condition after 10+ years, and the wood color has darken over time.

This will gonna take some times. =D

Haha, thx for the model name.
Here is the picture I googled, may be too small...

I believe color isn't the main concern as long as it is uniform.
I sure the hardest part will be drilling and shaping the keycaps. HELL jobs indeed. rolleyes.gif

G3000 series is nice to me too but it's the general population which dislike them for the old-school looks.
Even my younger sibling ask why am I using such an old and ugly keyboard and why not use a Razer/Steelseries keyboard.
I just smile and keep quite. "Ignorance is bliss"

Getting this soon =X [hopefully it will arrive before the weekends]

i think it's the standard black we see on every filco model. this limited edition, selling point would be the awesome sexy yellow keycap.
*
1. Buy normal FILCO
2. Buy/paint the Golden ''FILCO''(available from the 1st gen of FILCO Majestouch)
3. Buy the yellow keycaps from KBC
4. FILCO LIMITED YELLOW EDITION, PROFIT? hmm.gif

2. i don't think gold and yellow would have too much difference.

3. The Yellow keycaps are ABS, and all we know that, KBC does provide ABS Keycaps and multicolor too, which is not only PBT, but ABS too, and in future POM as well!

4. For LED part, i guess that would have be based on user preference. for me, i do think yellow or white LED is kinda distracting to my eye, because they are too bright. But i can't comment about this model LED yet, because there are no one owns the model yet to give us the clear picture of this product.

But.. i don't think LED is hard to solder if you wanted to compare to switch soldering.
*
2. He is comparing the mj2 with mj1. MJ1 is gold label while MJ2 is chrome/silver label.

3. Yar, KBC do make both ABS and PBT. Also, KBC ABS is much cheaper than their PBT.

4. Modding LED should be easy as just desolder 6(2x3) pins and resolder 6pins. The harder part will be sourcing LED with suitable voltage, current, resistance and most importantly the size.

guess thats why most games have crouch as C for default.
everytime i use ctrl, have to bend the pinky to hit it without losing control of W and A tongue.gif

I thought most FPS(CS, L4D and many more) are using Ctrl as default crouch? Jumping onto higher plaform in CS = crouch + jump.

The price should be below RM300 after convert

That may not necessarily be true. This is Malaysia and our products(normally) are known to be more overpriced.

Therefore, I put by bet on over RM330 RRP. whistling.gif

The possible causes(no offence to anyone sweat.gif ):
1. Dumb buyers - If one is dumb enough to pay higher, I don't think there will be seller dumb enough to reject it.
2. Greedy sellers - A thing is priced at the price the buyer willing to pay.
3. Low population in Malaysia - In China, their things(IT accessories) can be 1-4x cheaper than Malaysia, cause they having super high population.

Keycaps part: Thanks for the info, but isn't it as same as what Squarebox mentioned earlier? And its hard to look for full 104 keys with special eyes catching color from taobao. =\ My only solution atm was wasdkeyboard.com but trying to find some eyes catching color as well.

You have any idea where to source for them? Currently eyeing at orange color, prefer-able blank keys.

Filco logo: Oh wow o.o but how do you take out the existing one? :S
*
Not the same? From the color tone of view, they looks similar to me whistling.gif , just the profile(curvature) and "Ninja" is different from the one you shown.

Taobao got all sorts of color PBT/ABS keys one, you just need a more throughout search. PBT should be easier finding Blank keys though.

For Filco LOGO, I once saw in GH that the mechanism behind the logo is like 2 tiny pins plugged into the keyboard frame. In other words, it is removable.

Added on November 13, 2011, 8:08 pmHmmm, colorful POM keycaps? I always thought POM only black in color. Looks alike to the semi-translucent NYLON keycaps last time.
