It's hard to describe...using some long screw, aluminium bushes to extend lower the frp reinforce plate as brake but clearance must be more than 1mm....or use HG or some other kind of Frp stay to stack on top the FRP reinforce plate....it has many kind of different way to set the brakes....for more info, search in google tamiya mini 4wd technical course....there got a lot pic to view... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Let me know what you think...

I am creating this site so that all Mini 4WD events can be announced to the whole world in one place for free.

I think that it will help racers find races and make the sport grow like a sprout again.

I am open to good criticism and suggestions... it's a work in progress...

U miss out something.....u should call him sifu raven or else he won't answers your question rclxm9.gif ....u r talking abt stability so r u saying 620 bearing at wheel shaft?...ms pro can't fit 620 to high speed gear or super speed gear... icon_rolleyes.gif I prefer using hex hole bearing for wheel shaft area. icon_idea.gif

Hi bro,

My car gear are standard, not modify at all, just buy & installed. nod.gif

My suggestion is play everything with STANDARD first, until you feel that you yourself are ready to move to the modification stage.... hmm.gif

IMO, a not proper modification method will never better than a STANDARD installation. rclxub.gif

IMO A standard car can be smooth as below tips:

1) Ensure car chassis are fine.
2) Ensure motor output depend on track format. (More rpm less torque or more torque less rpm or both?)
3) Ensure current flow are good. Eg. battery contact, battery terminal, motor to terminal contact...
4) Ensure car moving parts are smooth & clean as possible. Eg. Gears, wheel bearing...
5) Ensure wheel shaft, wheels, tyres are straight & align as possible.
6) Ensure tyres are clean & oil free.
7) Ensure rollers are smooth & clean as possible.
8) Study front roller degree setting depend on track format.
9) Confident (Never give up) biggrin.gif

All above just IMO.....Its just a basic knowledge to start with. smile.gif

I also keep learning everyday....from TU senior member & in forum always.

For me always from a thinking to a questions, from a questions to a research, from a research to a development, from a development to a test, from a test to a success. (no short cut) biggrin.gif

Hope my opinion did helps. nod.gif

Many tks.

Cheers!

Good Morning,

This forum has been keep looping in cycle. Newbies come asking tips from A to Z and then a very kind old timer give the tips after a week come another batch of newbies asking for the same tips. These are how the regular racers feel:

" Oh man!, not again",

"don't they know how to google?",

"we are in v12 right now, are they too lazy to browse through the previous thread"

"While we are spending hundred hours of testing and experimenting the car setting, why they don't?"

Imho:
We actually don't want to spoil your journey of m4wd adventure. Google it, test it, experience it and then please asking. We are very glad to answer it.

Chilex newbies!

Cheers!

newbies will always be newbies ... ppl always expect to be spoon feed in public forum ... anyway .. my suggestion is to put all the links/tips for settings on the 1st page everytime a new thread is created so we prevent those type of q ... simply reply to them "please refer to the first page for guide" ... peace out ...

All I see is an income opportunity for someone who is an entrepreneur...

Most internet softwares offer 'free version' and 'premium version'...

So, if someone can begin a 'premium' thread that requires a small monthly subscription of say... $2 or $5 per month... paid by 'newbie'...

...Then... the monthly income from providing more detailed tips to 'newcomers' can provide better prizes on race day.

Those are two challenges that can be the answer to each other...

Challenge #1: How to provide detailed tutoring to new racers so they don't clog up forum with requests.

Challenge #2: How to provide better prizes to racers on race day.

"Boom. Pop. Next Stop. Glue Factory."
(reference to GoRemy YouTube video: I Dominate)

That's my 2 ringgits worth!

Thanks & Peace.

Hi bro,

Sharing = caring, I also been caring by few of my senior racer @ TU 6 months ago until today, yet you had improved from just 1 question & then you will tried to research & develop automatically...until success. This i LIKE! notworthy.gif

BTW, Nice collection you have there....but you need 1 more setup for coming rempit session round 2. Kindly prepare, hope to see you also... biggrin.gif

Dont miss it & kindly join us, its a time for some newbie to experience how fast a PURE tamiya mini 4wd can go..... brows.gif

Haha...Cheers bro! laugh.gif

Chilex newbies!

newbies will always be newbies ... ppl always expect to be spoon feed in public forum ... anyway .. my suggestion is to put all the links/tips for settings on the 1st page everytime a new thread is created so we prevent those type of q ... simply reply to them "please refer to the first page for guide" ... peace out ...

here's a car that i found in a box of used mini 4wd i bought.

i thought it might be a good car onto mount a helmet camera.

i will share the results when it's completed.

the back-end of the car slides from left to right to go around corners.

it seems dangerous to ask any questions on this forum...

so, question... 'anyone has setup on-car camera before?'

i know answer... 'install on-car camera on car then see if it works.'

ah hahahahaha...

i like to take risk of asking questions.

thanks and peace.

i found a small light weight jet motor that might work better than only a propeller
as in the video.

will let you know how it goes.

thanks and peace.

its meant for tighten the ball caps for the screws but some of us have used it as rubber brakes... put the " ice cream stick" frp thru the rubber tube then screw the ends with rollers etc and tada! you got yourself some brakes.

so that means not only it can be use to tighten the ball cap to the screws but also can function as a brake ... nice

i only use one plastic cardboard(white in colour ), some tape and heavy duty stapler to hold them together... it is only a single line because i only use a single sheet of plastic cardboard , i was planning yo make a duo line track but fail....

the reason of fail is i use ordinary cardboard and not plastic tongue.gif .....try it a lot of time but fail at the end ...if you say a 3 lane track then at least you need 4/5 sheet of plastic ...i use the ones where they cut it longer ... biggrin.gif

i don't think that is a good idea in my area ,because all the ditch near by my home have a 90 angle turn ... try it once the whole car broke in to two part sweat.gif
same as my hometown ,they play at the longkang biggrin.gif ... the rich kids brought the track but only play for them self ....old memories ,good time ,good time biggrin.gif

Hey guys. I've been lurking around the Tamiya Mini 4wd forum for awhile. And I'm getting more poisoned and poisoned each time I see the pics and read the posts.

But I have one question to ask. I'm from Penang. Is there anyway for me to pursue this hobby? Thinking of buying one and racing and learn more, especially from all you sifu-sifu semua.

difficult to recognize enelpoops with colour cuz they've made a lot of limited graphics...
usually here we use the white eneloop 2000, eneloop lite 1000 (white or azure) are too small, XXX and other 2500 too heavy

report of our jump race

and some PICS

i took the 8th time in expert class and 5th in top, but after a fly out in the final session i finished 6th...
user posted image
for me the hardest part was the rebound after slope in (someone said no hangin dampers?), but many people failed the triple jump after start: if the mini doesn't jump straight, will hit the other jump on the side! for the first time i saw a mini do a 360° in the air and land in the track!

question: you super super speed race will be with LC bridge or rainbow?

but, as you see in the video, the straight section was impressive long! in normal speed tracks we run about 9m/s.
actually MDP is not admitted in Expert class, but only in TOP (with 8 rollers and modified gear ratio), so is hard to compare

Nice car bro notworthy.gif ....but by looking at the tyre even you achieved 34mm for better top speed, but they looks heavy lol, imo 31mm might perform better lol.....Just imo. Btw what is the weight of this car?

Tks for sharing your car bro! notworthy.gif

Cheers!

i know tires weren't made good, but was my first and last double layer wheels, cuz this year is not admitted anymore in my class... anyway, heavy wheels can help to preserve top speed in the small corner section!

Yes yes.....true! It depend on the lay out! Pls don mind me asking a question! In that video, is that speed really reach up to 10m/sec? That speed in video doesn't look really fast but IMO may be that video is capture far away so it look not really high speed. May I know what is the length in that lay out, how many straights n corner? Got time attack? What fastest time attack? Mind telling me bro? icon_rolleyes.gif

thanks. but I doubt it. sad.gif we don't follow official tamiya rules in our speedtech races here. our max width here is... 114.5. the setup I made is 105mm only. It would be faster in the curves... I just don't know about the LC.

what do you want to do with this mini? as said, my setting is suitable only for speed tracks, where all lane changer are rainbow or loop type, so no need any brake, rubber rings or mass dampers!
anyway, even if you want to race with bridge lc or jums, do not shorten so much front rollers and use carbon o double layer frp instead of duralluminium rear support!

Hi bro,
This sunday super speed track lay out is rainbow LC, not bridge LC....the current setting u did is very difficult to counter bridge LC even with brake unless the speed is slow enough....just set it to longer length..the lay out for this sunday is not suitable with this set up coz too many lollipop corners together...just remove parts that make the car heavy like dampers n brake...try to set it as light as light possible in between 80-90gram....cheers!!! biggrin.gif

With Tamiya RnR only allow 105mm width, short roller base would not make your car faster on the corner. I don't know if you have taken the results and make comparison between long and short setup.
As we did tested with this kind of short setup. Apparently, its really slow on the corner. This is not my opinion but we have tested and get the results. It slow down our car by 2seconds in 140-160m long track.

I will put it in the different country different style category
Corner fast or slow really depends on the track layout is rectangular it works

With Tamiya RnR only allow 105mm width, short roller base would not make your car faster on the corner. I don't know if you have taken the results and make comparison between long and short setup.
As we did tested with this kind of short setup. Apparently, its really slow on the corner. This is not my opinion but we have tested and get the results. It slow down our car by 2seconds in 140-160m long track.

  smile.gif  smile.gif
*
also my mini is under 105mm rules, and works very well in corners! in a layout with half straights and half corners, where other racers had advantage of motor in straight, i was faster in corner section and i reached best lap in 9m/s!
but maybe with lollypop corners a longer setup could be better... now i want a speed layout to test!

today's race at TTR club

even if the track was all corners, best lap was at 8,5m/s with Mach dash and 8.3 with Hyper pro! damn fast!
for me just 9th time in expert class at 7,6 m/s.

i know, but jumps equalize battery performance so only good setup count at all!
I tried do draw your track but cannot close... anyway, results 140.5mt, so top speed was 6,1 m/s, like in our jump races (where we need to discharge our nimh to clear the track)

how can you manage those mail delivered cars? i mean: take care of motor and mechanic and tuning the car during the race represent a good part of the final result, imho
