Want a cost effective, sharp and compact little 85m prime? Look no further than the 85mm f2.8 SAM!! Great performance for its price point!! And it's a FF lens!!!

A few shots with the 85mm:

i never knew flashes can only fire fast sync speed while pointed dirctly!
why? why cant bounce? doh.gif

Yup. I'm not sure why, but if I were to make a smart guess, I'll say that its because when its on HSS, the flash can't charge to full power before the shutter closes. Therefore the flash power is cut down. And with this cut down in power, the power is not enough to bounce. Thus only allowing you to use in direct. Since direct requires less.

Wait wait. What am I talking about.. doh.gif

Newbieee, good guess, but not even close...

HSS only works when in direct flash because the camera and flash will know what is the distance of the subject from the sensor and thus being able to fire of a calculated amount of power. If the flash is made to bounce, there are MANY unknown areas to bounce from, varying in surface reflectivity, and distance. There will then be no information that the flash/camera is able to use to do the said calculations.

In HSS the sensor is never fully exposed. Let's say the opening between first and second shutter is 1/4 the height of the sensor, the flash fires 4 times while the opening travels, to expose across the whole frame. So it loses power. ADI is the thing that doesn't work in bounce because it can't use the lens distance. HSS does work in wireless direct, disproving lwliam's theory.

Half a point to Newbieeeeee.

it's all up to you, the photog. The difference in focal length is quite significant, and as for me, I love the 35mm as a walk-around lens compared to the tighter 50mm which i think is better for portraiture smile.gif

jimmylim - it overheats because of the mirror inside which overheats due to the continuous AF during video recording....i got to agree with chiahau that EVF isnt that good when it comes wiht the colours....but at least you can agak-agak.....i still recommend you get it if it fits your budget....best DSLR for me within the price-range.....

I think my A77's sensor is faulty la huhu, now the frequency of getting like-the above photos is double ! rclxub.gif even worse, now the 'brownish thing' covering all over the photo, not only at the edges.
