Hi antt00, I have also flashed Siyah v2.1 kernel. However I cannot find the backup of the efs file.
Cannot find /data/.siyah folder noe in my ext sdcard.

any help appreciated to get the backup accomplished. Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly it have been remove in 2.1 because of too many ways to backup so gokhan thinks it is not necessary. Use hc tool to backup.

Hi snigapore, I have done exactly that. Using Root Explorer. However, read in some forum, that if doing it this method,
we lost quite a few info, like permission and something else. This make recovery not 100%.
Any sifus here can clarify?

bought my S2 back in July, it was 2.3.3 back then. Updated firmware twice (current KI2).

But, I noticed newer stock comes with 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. Hmm..

How are you going to recover EFS? Copying back the folder does not work as people have reported.

Better just use hellcat tool to backup. Its just a small app and the backup is just a click of a button. Less than 5 mins of your time.

If you want to use adb, there is a pc app already developed to backup and restore. Everything is automated so you do not need to type commands.

Those newer stock are i9100G. Notice the G at the back. They have different processors and thus their rom is different. Normal i9100 is still at KI2 2.3.3

I never use 3.1.5 cos i have download problem with it. I was always on version 2 until today. Notice that a new version have been pushed out 3.3.11. I am trying it now and it seems better than 3.1.5 at least for me. You can just try it and if you do not like it, then just uninstall update and you have your old version back.

First page, post no. 6, item no. 2, the link is there

You mean tb as in titanium backup? The default folder is in /sdcard/titaniumbackup

Edit: I am not sure if the hellcat link in the first page is the latest. You can always download from his thread

i assume you have a G version? can do a test? coz i noticed a difference between mine (non-G) and a fren's one (G).

basically, just install this flashlight apps (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devuni.flashlight) and then activate the flashlight.

just to confirm... press the top right grey button...
[attachmentid=2515117]

and make sure the tochlight (the top left) is selected...
[attachmentid=2515118]

then try and activate the torchlight...

on my non-G, the light came on immediately. on the non-G... i noticed it could take 2-3 seconds before the lights come on. or just my fren's phone is faulty? smile.gif

It will close itself after sometime. But it does not drain anything or cause wakelock. Its always been like this for me since touch rom. When you exit by pressing back button, messaging is still shown as running in task manager. Check back after sometime it is no longer there.

I can say that the new Market is a massive improvement. SO much faster at loading the download screens and functions much better. No more issues at all
