QUOTE(sammm33 @ Feb 11 2012, 02:10 PM) how to put this... the thing is like this : I never own a smartphone b4, so when i actually plan to go for Lumia 800, I mention on FB that I will go and Q up at pavilion for the lumia 800. then there comes the comment from my friends who is using IOS and Android. both actually join force (!) and bash the windows mobile is a piece of crap + no future due to lack of apps and users. according to them, the usability of win mobile is not practical due to the lack of customization and lumia 800 is not flashable like what can be done by ipon and android phone. and both of them are so sure that I will be so sorry and regret for getting the Lumia 800 ... T__T to be fair, their argument do sounds logic enuf cuz what they using now are the mainstream, so for sure the app's are abundant . but does that really makes the Lumia 800 with meego sxxks? well, i'm using Lumia now, I dont care much but still deep in my heart, i'm not quite sure bout the future of my Lumy... most of my frens are also particular about the customization and abundancy of apps. they think that the custom rom in android phone is so great and they also keep mentioning that android and iphone have many apps while WP7 has no apps. I try to explain to them that actually customization is only for show only, not practical at all because it does not affect much on the function/feature. also, actually the apps on android and iphone are many but many are repeated also. in fact, WP7 has less apps but the major apps eg angry bird, whatsapp can also be found in WP7. when i wan to explain, they just don't believe and they even condemn me because i am promoting a rubbish.. they think that i am stupid to support WP7. they just wan to be mainstream and afraid of ppl laughing at them for using WP7. so i really have nothing to say, i also lazy to argue with them anymore. I will support WP7 as long as it suits me no matter what other ppl say |

QUOTE(Nightengale @ Feb 11 2012, 02:46 PM) The only thing lacking on the WP7 side compared to other OSes are the number of apps/games available. Actually its nothing to do with the number of apps, just that to them if your platform doesn't have X app its not a real phone. For windows phone, X was - angry birds Then once it got that, X became I Think the complaint now for X should be.... - Instagram? |

QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Feb 11 2012, 01:53 PM) No, always use reason and be logical about your purchases. A phone can't make you unique. They may have good points in their bashing, not because they are common. I agree use reason and logic about your purchase.m Like Nokia n8 people keep saying is slow, lag, crap but until today even iPhone users or sgs II cost twice and faster cant take the photos I can with the nokia n8 . When I get lumia I'll do the same again. Buying a phone can't make you unique but how you adept to your phone makes you unique. Like. So by listening you become common they tell you what suits them not suits you just my opinion |

QUOTE(xcen @ Feb 11 2012, 02:00 PM) You'd be surprised how many people just buy a smartphone because it's the 'cool' thing to do. Nowadays phones are like fashion accessories, mesti ikut trend. very true indeed I have know countless of people who buy iPhone not for apps, but because everyone has one and they look cool with it. (They barely even know how to operate the phone.) They end up using Facebook, call and SMS only I also know a lot of people who buy a BlackBerry for the 'coolness' factor of being a 'business person'. Even though they're just students... Hi guys, finally able to get my hand on lumia 800 + purity HD headphone after queuing for 6 hours yesterday
I havent really start using the phone yet... cause im thinking to port my line from Digi to Maxis (new mini sim card) b4 start with the new phone. First impression is... i Charged my phone at night to full.. (no 8 hours charging)....go to bed...wake up 12pm.. check phone... battery = 75% left... I dont have sim card insert and no wifi connected (did play 10 minutes d night b4 though)... now battery is really as bad as wat ppl said... So.. is there a problem if we just use Malaysia Windows Live ID? I havent registered any yet because of the problem u guys addressed. Can I access Marketplace + pay apps if using Malaysia ID? also May I know XBOX LIVE... is it really just for XBOX? So I do not need to bother about Xbox Live IF i do not Own a Xbox? I'll buy games from Marketplace for the phone instead? |

Depends on individual perspective phones are item that lose its value over time. For me I buy a mobile phone to suit my usage. I haven't bought phones like many years. currently most people they buy phones because people recommend or everyone recommend. Different people have different needs I seen some ppl have sgs II and iPhone they don't even use apps they bought it because friends recommend

EDIT: On second thought, since this is a new phone, you might want to use it for about a week first and then repeat the test to see if there are improvements. Usually the phone shouldn't drain more than 5% unless there are a lot of incoming messages/push notifications. This post has been edited by xcen: Feb 11 2012, 04:32 PM |

QUOTE(marauderz @ Feb 11 2012, 08:55 AM) That is correct, with a Malaysian account, you can buy stuff in RM and easily link your payment options. AFAIK, the reason should be because XBox wasn't officially available in Malaysia; Microsoft never officially launch XBox in Malaysia; Hence, we don't get XBox as free gift like Singpore. The problem here is that you would completely lose the ability to even try Xbox Live games cause the while category is disabled for Malaysian accounts. QUOTE(christina1 @ Feb 11 2012, 10:13 AM) ok are u using this phone..if yes pls share how is this phone in terms of feature compare to others like SII or 4s This phone is very similar like iPhone, with all the limitations and restrictions, have to use ZUNE (like iTunes) to transfer files, etc. It's smooth and stable like iPhone. BUT... it's better than iPhone in terms of features/functions: there is People Hub (social networks integration), this alone is enough to be an amazing experience... those who have been using the N900 or N9 will know this very well. Android tried to implement this but it was a failure, very messy. There're also Office built-in, and also good email integration. The one thing that it's still lacking from iPhone is the Apps and Games department, but soon this will eventually catch up. How many apps/games isn't really important, most important is those really useful, popular, in demand apps and games are made available. One thing unique for Nokia's Windows Phone is, there is this "Contacts Transfer" app (which allows you to transfer contacts easily form any device via Bluetooth), and Nokia Drive (voice guided navigation). Compare with Android (e.g. SGSII), it's very different. Android is about customization, flexibility, freedom, power. It really depends what you want, if you want simple, reliable, easy to use, then Android is not for you. Android can be complicated and take some time to pickup and learn, the first time it maybe very hard and complicated for some people (but hey, you only need to learn once; same like a digital camera, first time you purchase, wahhhh so many funcitons, blur blur; as you use and learn, you'll later find that, you have learn everything and WANTS MORE, why no this, why no that). The thing with Android (or those flexible, customizable, freedom OS) is, the user needs to be educated and knows what he/she is doing; It's just like using a computer, if you customize it a lot, run a lots of services and programs, don't blame the computer if it become sluggish, lag..... The user needs to know how to properly use the device, knows the limit of the device (e.g. ram, processor, etc). In short, with Great Powers comes Great Responsibilities. If you don't need all that and just want a simple and reliable phone, then go for those simple and easy to use phone like iPhone or Windows Phone 7 (e.g. Nokia Lumia) Added on February 11, 2012, 4:45 pm QUOTE(clivengu @ Feb 11 2012, 04:40 PM) Actually after 100% charging.. i did try to use it indoor but gps unable to detect... so exit and i tried the browser..
