Where is your thread?

Added on February 9, 2007, 8:08 amGuys, anyone can answer my query here? If I were to sign up for multiple domain hosting (through addon domains), how can I assign different IPs to each domain? I've heard of extra fees per month which I don't mind paying.

Lemme know.

Yes, it's a good hosting company, but not for small-scale website. They are offering minimum 3GB for RM99 per year. If you are doing a web forum, maybe can lah.

So far the best hosting that I have used so far is IpServerOne (for linux, very good support, and their server is almost never down) & Hive Hosting (hive.com.my) for windows (Cheap & Reliable SQL2000 hosting),. Others which I have used:-

1) Exabytes-the worst web hosting company ever!! The company that I am working in uses Exabytes and they have been having problems everyday!! Some of the problems include:-
i) E-mail problem, once all our customers e-mail account password were reseted.

ii) Slow website loading, this happens everyday (especially in the afternoon) Sometimes the website cannot be accessed. The speed usually picks up in the middle of the night (I kid u not).

The only good thing about Exabytes is their customer support!! You can call them 24/7 and screw the kaw-kaw!! (and believe me you will)

2)Serverfreak. Not recommended. The d/l speed was very bad, many of my visitors complained, and the guy (I think his name was Sam) said that the problem was on my side!! Anyway when my hosting was about to expire he did offer to change my server (that was after a few months!), by that time I had enough and changed to a new webhosting company.

Hmm, no response from Serverfreak or Exabytes? I'm quite surprised with jag's review of Serverfreak but maybe, for me, d/load speed is not an issue for me (at least no visitors have emailed to complain about it)

Hi, I remembered your site myvi.com.my. That time our server was at US, so the speed will be vary depending on your connection. We can't do much about it as International link to Malaysia is not so good until now. Anyway, we have servers in Singapore now just same as local server.

Thank you.

It been 24 hours since I tried contacting Pixcle.com personnel to update my domain name nameserver (they keep the domain name management access to themselves) but no response at all:
1. 3 emails
2. YM (he's online BTW)
3. Phone calls

And oddly he keep quiet, he didn't answer my phone call. So here it is Pixcle.com is a cows end till the solve my problem.

I'm using different services at the moment. Thank for the PM but I can't do anything about that as PIXCLE.com admit it themselves that they using the same profile for every domain name under them using one single login. I tried contracting Tucows reseller above PIXCLE but they still can't do anything.

Yesterday the contacted me asking me to confirm that I'm the correct owner of the domain (ironically a few hours earlier they send me a email asking be to renew my domain name fee). So with frustration I do everything the asked and now it's already 12hours and still no nothing. Am I suppose to wait another 3 days? And how can I continue paying them money if they can't provide me what I need?

If they don't want to update it then give me the access and I be done on 5.

crynobone caught me in the wrong timing. I was having my CNY holidays for slighty more than week from 17th to 25th February. Was back at my grandparent's place and I've limited internet access. We did send out email notifications to all our customers that we will be closed during that period for CNY celebrations. Not sure if he recieved it or his email provider placed it in bulk/ junk mail. Anyway I've forwarded him the email notification once again to proof that we did officially close for 1 week. Support on that time is on best effort basis. Yes my YM is on BUT it's on my home computer back in PJ. Was mass downloading torrent so my PC is rarely shutdown. Can't give a guy a peaceful holiday meh? tongue.gif He requested for nameservers change on 22nd and we resolved it on 26th. ETA 4 days during CNY holiday season, this is acceptable to me. Well everything was sorted out and resolved by yesterday, Monday 26th February.

The one thing that really bug me is that you never allow me to have access to my domain name admin interface. One small change that can take 5 minutes by myself have to wait so long (I can change the thing myself so why must I wait), and until now you never give me that permission which other hosting provider gave to their customer.

It as simple as I purchase a house from you but you insist that you keep the keys. In time I want to get into my house you will open the door to me. You can't have holidays if you want to do this kinda services but you still when for the holidays. So how does that feels? Who wouldn't be pissed. (The example might be bit off but that the scenario now)

Well when you sign with any hosting both domain + hosting it wouldn't be a problem because nameserver change wouldn't occurred. Unless you situation is same as mine you will not suffer the same fate.

Hmm interesting discussion. I actually have never purchased any domain from the hosting company yet. I did not know it is that hard to change nameserver. I thought a simple user login would do. After all, the domain is owned by the purchaser (I do agree on crynobone's analogy about buying a house but the key is kept by somebody else)

On service support during "holiday season", I have actually signed up with CynetStudio hosting recently, for one of my "mini" sites. I did have initial reservation whether or not they have support during CNY, but they did. My support ticket was answered within a few hours and prior to signing up for the hosting, the guy assured me there are personnel working on shift during that holiday. Thumbs up for that.

Crynobone, have you attempted to transfer your domain name to a proper registrar company? The prices shouldn't differ much from each other.

P/S: I still have one hosting account with Pixcle. I have moved other accounts to different hosting companies. I'll reserve my comment with Pixcle smile.gif
