Cynet "somebody" replied to me. He said no real uptime tracking was done (through siteuptime or uppanel or whatever). But insisted on the 99.9% uptime which honestly, not many web hosting can achieve.

I'm afraid of one-man-show hosting like versatilenetworks which I had bad experience with. Sounded like a reseller hosting. Only replied to your email at night. Handphone is switched off and never reply.

Hi,
Just wondering, isn't his claim weak when it is not supported by any 3rd party uptime report?

No offense to them, just my 2 cents.

Thanks.

Hi all.

Just wanna share my experience so far. I have just came onto the world of internet and registered my sites in 2 different servers. I have 4 sites by the way. one is in mogutou, the other 3 is in giz technology.

Here are 2 screenshots of the time taken to connect by ftp to the respective servers from the initial "connecting to.. " until "directory listing successful".

famouschris.com is hosted in mogutou, losu.org is hosted in giz.

Here's the difference.

19 seconds - famouschris
1 second - losu

Of course I can still upload and download and navigate through the directories in famouschris, but it will take more time. I was hoping the slowness is a fixable problem so that i may increase productivity.

I would seriously recommend Giz Tech. The website might look a bit funny but my experience with Giz has been spectacular. Customer support is just great.
*
For your information, the reason why there is a major difference in the connecting speed is because famouschris.com is on a US server:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

While losu.org is on a SG server:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

It is best for you to inform the hosting provider upon signing up about your web site's targetted audience. If you are expecting lots of international visitors, a US server is the best. Else, go for regional servers like SG or MY servers.

Thus, you can't really compare Mogo & Giz by the speed test, as you're comparing apples to oranges now.

Thanks.

Quoting from coyouth

His own I guess. He advertised his "services" here, just look back at the posts, his was cheap at rm25. I was interested.

He said he'd let me use a test account for 2 days. I'd have no control or ftp, only that I can download a file or something to test its speed/bandwidth.
Yea so okay, I waited, and waited and waited...he went offline. So like the next week,he came back on, I asked him if remembers anything? He said something like "I dont deal with you". So okay, I ignored him after that lol...
Then yesterday came this msg xD So here we are.
*
Well, not to provoke quarrel, but the guy added me to his MSN last year and tried to sell his hosting services to me. Funny that he is trying to advertise his services to a hosting company, and I wasn't really treated in the politely manner when I declined to take up his offer.

Anyone heard of Reseller Zoom. It is a very reliable hosting site with a lot of good feedbacks. You can check their Uptime Record by a third party site. Reseller Zoom Reviews.com. The review site is owned by themselves but the reviews are linked from WebHosting Talk.com. One more, Hosting Zoom is the parent company for Reseller Zoom.

What I wanted is a cheap, reliable host. However, most of the hosts out there charge out of my budget. I bumped into this reseller site and and if I buy a reseller pack, which is quite cheap and SHARE it with others, all of us can get a cheap and reliable host.

Space/BW/Price
I aim for Budget Reseller Plan One which gives 4 GB space, 60GB bw and only costs USD 6.95 per month. If there's 2 person willing to host with me, 3 of us can get around 1333 MB (1GB+)  and 20GB of bw at around RM8 per month. You can go to the site and check for yourself, I don't earn anything.  biggrin.gif You can customise the space & bw you need if you need more/less.

There's a overselling feature but I will not oversell. I will let you know how many people are sharing the host. I don't think we will host more than 3-4 persons, but it depends on the space/bw they need. tongue.gif

Feautures
You can check the features here. I am going for the cheapest budget plan.

Payment
You can bank in to my Ambank/ Public Bank account and I will bank in to the host via Paypal.

Can I trust you?
I don't think I can gain enough trust from you now because I seldom do trade here. You can tell me what you need and I will register first and set up the account for you then, you can pay me. Please be serious and don't tell me you don't need the account after I registered.

I am hosting my site and forum too, so worry not, I will not disappear suddenly.

PM me if you have and inquiries. Serious and interested people only.  tongue.gif

Hi,
To find out more information about ResellerZoom, you can check out:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?searchid=1986634

In my opinion, they are reliable, but only limited to the Failover Plan. I've a friend who is hosting under them, and he moved on to the Failover from Budget because the Budget servers are highly crowded and not really reliable.

Thanks and hope that helps!

1. It depends on you, whether you can afford a host, are you very serious with your site, if you are, I suggest you to get a paid hosting. If you're just playing around, get a free hosting.

2. You can get it from Cynet for RM35, I think.

3. I think it's the limit for your database's size, not very sure though.  sweat.gif

4. How big is your forum? LYN? 500MB? Of course not enough!! Big communities like LYN need a lot more than that!  shakehead.gif

5. Of course your site will be down if you hosting is down. I don't think domains will lost connection.
*
Agree with most of your points.

As for "Hosting + Free Domain", please be careful not to fall into the trick of the hosting providers. Make sure you own the "Free Domain" as I understand the "Free Domain" is usually owned by the hosting providers for such case. So, please be careful!

If the hosting server goes down, yes your site will be down. For the domain name server, there are simply lots of DNS server worldwide, that is why when you make changes to your domain, it takes up to 72 hours for the new changes to fully propagate on all these worldwide DNS servers.

Thanks.

Cheated, heck Godaddy suck quite badly man. And expensive as well.
Last year i registered a private domain at their website for USD9 + 2 private registration fee
And this year when i wanna renew, they charge me a total of whooping 18 USD for that.
9 for domain
private registration for another 9 usd.

I know its my wrong for not reading properly, now when i found a better registrar, i wanted to transfer. And heck?
1. There's no transfer out faqs for me to read.
2. Status: Transfer Away Accept/Decline Required << This is what written there, and there's no accept or deny button around it. Not even deny !!
This is such a hassle. I wouldnt recommend anybody hosting at Godaddy at all doh.gif
*
Have you tried emailing them to unlock your domain so that you can transfer it away? FYI, if you have done that, it is impossible for them to lock your domain, because they are an ICANN accredited registrar.

For your information again, our registrar eNom charges US$8.95 for WHOIS Protect even though we are their resellers. I don't find US$9 as retail price expensive for the WHOIS Protect.

Thanks.

I'm looking for a web hosting provider that allow their client to run SSH client or install 3rd party script like GD Library (Of course all the 3rd party script is open source and for website enhancement). Any recommendation?
*
For your information, web hosting providers who concern on their servers' stability and reliability will not let you have SSH Access. Not even JailedSSH I would say.

If you need the access just to install GD Library, I suggest you to ask the hosting provider to install it for you, or perhaps it is already installed in the server.

Thanks.

I was previously impressed with pixcle.com until today, I noticed that my website hosted with them were down for 11 hours! No wonder I saw my web visitor stats plunged heavily.

If the pixcle.com guy reads this thread anymore, please explain how such massive downtime can occur? Note: this is not the first time it is happening. Last time, their excuse was "network card" had problem and resulted in about 12 hrs downtime!

Things like this will seriously make me think twice about continuing with pixcle.com. Just my 2 cents...
*
Sorry to hear your bad experience with them.

Have you tried contacting them to find out more information?

Thanks.

mesrahosting just name only. nothing to do with 'mesra'. check complain at putera.com

cttsite so far so good. KK2iT.COM is their reseller or using cttsite server. i just tracking cttsite for 20 days

Hi,
Sorry for the interruption. For your information, host-tracker.com is not reliable. As a web hosting provider, I have used many monitoring services and I can conclude that you won't go wrong with Alertra, Websitepulse & Hyperspin.

As for the rest, most of the time they report outages when your site is up and running smile.gif

Thanks.

this might becoz the monitoring services if try to accessing from other country and the country link is broken so it might give false alarm to malaysia users.

this is what i think.
*
Yes, this is true. The 3 services that I recommended, they monitor your server from multiple locations, which is more reliable.

QUOTE(lpohchin @ Jun 12 2007, 11:07 AM)
ya, host-tracker.com last year not very reliable, but in this year everything very fine.

how is your Alertra monitor time? every minutes ?
*
We used to use 2 minutes monitoring until we compared the results with Hyperspin and we are now replacing our uptime report with Hyperspin. As our number of monitored servers grow, monitoring with Alertra is really costing us a bomb sweat.gif

Thanks.
