Yawns, pixcle.com hosting is down, yet again. I think this is 3rd time in January alone. Hopefully not too long. I'm ready to move on to different hosting. pixcle.com said they have upgraded their server, but still got downtime again and again.

Since there are so many different web hosting here, please PM me if you can suit my requirement. I'm looking for a more customized web space + domain hosting. See below:

Disk space: 1-2GB is fine already
Domain: unlimited addon domains (or at least 5-10 addons)
Bandwidth: not that much, I can live with 2-10GB transfer per month

If any hosting can customize to this need, pls PM me your price quote. Some hosting has already pre-made their own hosting schemes, but I'm wondering anyone can customise based on my own requirement.

More importantly, please give your record of uptime statistic, say, for 1 or 2 years. Don't just say 99.9% uptime based on bollocks stuff people tend to claim on their hosting website.

In order to own a domain or getting a web hosting service, just visit http://www.cynetstudio.com/hosting-custom.html.
hi jassonvolt88,
Do you have the tracking website for cynetstudio hosting? The hosting claims to have 99.9% but I need to see the proof.

Cynet "somebody" replied to me. He said no real uptime tracking was done (through siteuptime or uppanel or whatever). But insisted on the 99.9% uptime which honestly, not many web hosting can achieve.

I'm afraid of one-man-show hosting like versatilenetworks which I had bad experience with. Sounded like a reseller hosting. Only replied to your email at night. Handphone is switched off and never reply.

Just wondering, isn't his claim weak when it is not supported by any 3rd party uptime report?

No offense to them, just my 2 cents.

None taken.

I actually forgot what his exact reply was (already deleted it in my Yahoo mail). He was blabbering about having own monitoring software that cannot be viewed by public.

And the uptime guarantee refund if did not meet the 99.9% is probably too small a compensation for any possible losses in revenue for web publishers.

how about ipserverone? anyone registered with them?
serverfreak seems to have good reputaion..
and im kinda interested in this cynet too...
but what im afraid is the one-man-show thingy...
i have to choose between these 3 which is not a one-man-show hoster...
anyone hav any idea which is which?

Again, I have to attest to serverfreak. Very good. I have just renewed one of my expired hosting with them.

No, they don't pay me money to recommend that.

if you want to form blacklist, pls include versatilenetworks, simply the who's who in the hall of shame.

i've actually used about 10-15 hosting throughout these years. another bad one is probably jv-hosting.net (but not a malaysian hosting)

thus far, serverfreak is the most reliable. the worse downtime i experienced was with jv-hosting (24 hrs), versatilenetwork (20 hrs), qualityhosting (16 hrs) and pixcle.com (14 hrs). various reasons like server overload by AWstats, or "network card needed to be replaced"

..then i found serverfreak they setup my server in less than 5 mins after i bank in the money to them...good service lor and fast servers...they price is quite cheap also not as cheap as mogutou but good service and high uptime rate...

ermm, how come mogutou is cheaper lor? serverfreak offers 500MB, 10GB bandwidth for RM60 per year. mogutou's 500MB, 10GB is RM90/yr.

Where is your thread?

Added on February 9, 2007, 8:08 amGuys, anyone can answer my query here? If I were to sign up for multiple domain hosting (through addon domains), how can I assign different IPs to each domain? I've heard of extra fees per month which I don't mind paying.

Lemme know.

Yes, it's a good hosting company, but not for small-scale website. They are offering minimum 3GB for RM99 per year. If you are doing a web forum, maybe can lah.

Hmm, no response from Serverfreak or Exabytes? I'm quite surprised with jag's review of Serverfreak but maybe, for me, d/load speed is not an issue for me (at least no visitors have emailed to complain about it)

Hmm interesting discussion. I actually have never purchased any domain from the hosting company yet. I did not know it is that hard to change nameserver. I thought a simple user login would do. After all, the domain is owned by the purchaser (I do agree on crynobone's analogy about buying a house but the key is kept by somebody else)

On service support during "holiday season", I have actually signed up with CynetStudio hosting recently, for one of my "mini" sites. I did have initial reservation whether or not they have support during CNY, but they did. My support ticket was answered within a few hours and prior to signing up for the hosting, the guy assured me there are personnel working on shift during that holiday. Thumbs up for that.

Crynobone, have you attempted to transfer your domain name to a proper registrar company? The prices shouldn't differ much from each other.

P/S: I still have one hosting account with Pixcle. I have moved other accounts to different hosting companies. I'll reserve my comment with Pixcle smile.gif

I've been with cynethosting for 100MB hosting for about a month now. Surprisingly good. So far, I think my uptime still maintain 100% for these 1 month.

Once you subcribe to this CynetStudio, you wont regret about it. Come and compare it with another webhosting company.  biggrin.gif

I agree. I wasn't expecting much from CynetStudio, so I only signed up to host a "less" important website. At the moment, the uptime still maintains at 100% which is quite beyond expectation (that means I can live if the hosting is down for a few hours).

At the mean time, my two important sites, hosted on pixcle.com and serverfreak.biz currently register 99.82% and 99.89% uptime respectively.

Just an honest review smile.gif

OK, here are some hosting companies that I have had experience with. I keep track or bookmark their uptime performance. Just to help fellow web customers in LYN to choose smile.gif

Serverfreak.biz - right now have 500MB hosting with them, and have used them for smaller hosting space before.
http://www.siteuptime.com/statistics.php?I...5&&UserId=12364

pixcle.com - have 1GB hosting with them, also have purchased a few other smaller hosting these past 2-3 years
http://www.siteuptime.com/statistics.php?I...2&&UserId=14621

lrehosting.com - surprisingly cheap, surprisingly good. currently hosting 50MB (small package) with them
http://fmh.alertra.com/fmhuptime/?id1=125294

realsimplehost.com - very cheap, "unlimited web space" as long as you follow the rules, but decided not to continue due to some "error" with file uploading, quite confusing, but as you can see, the uptime record is good..
http://host-tracker.com/uptime-statistics/248940-248941

planet3host.com - currently using small hosting of 30MB, very cheap
http://host-tracker.com/website-uptime-stats/259772

anjungcafehosting - cheap, using 50MB hosting, downtime is acceptable lah, since used it for my smallest site
http://host-tracker.com/website-uptime-stats/259780

cynetstudio - got 100MB hosting with them, thus far, still maintain 100% since i signed up a few months ago.. the uptime stats below is for my website hosted by cynetstudio since i did not track their uptime from day one..

I was previously impressed with pixcle.com until today, I noticed that my website hosted with them were down for 11 hours! No wonder I saw my web visitor stats plunged heavily.

If the pixcle.com guy reads this thread anymore, please explain how such massive downtime can occur? Note: this is not the first time it is happening. Last time, their excuse was "network card" had problem and resulted in about 12 hrs downtime!

Things like this will seriously make me think twice about continuing with pixcle.com. Just my 2 cents...

Sorry to hear your bad experience with them.

Have you tried contacting them to find out more information?

Thanks.

Hi Michael

Thanks for your concern. The website is up now after 11 hrs downtime. Hence, I do not see the urgent need to call them.

Having said that, during the last massive downtime back in 2006, I in fact tried to call and SMS all the numbers in their website, but to no avail. Only when the dust had settled that they sent a generic non-personalised email regarding "one of their network cards" had problem.

Even that was a dodgy excuse since how on earth that one card failure can affect the whole darn network? Perhaps they indeed just use one network card and pray nothing will happen.

And I also got the owner's excuse why he couldn't answer my phone call. Apparently he was "outstationed" in Brunei and could not receive calls from Malaysia. Saving a few pennies I guess.

These were the posts I wrote last Dec 2006 regarding the 16-hour downtime occured with pixcle.com

QUOTE(my44 @ Dec 8 2006, 08:50 AM)
I have 2.5GB server with pixcle.com and tonnes of pages. They went down since last night and I lost quite a lot of Google Adsense income (estimated about US$12 this morning and growing since the sites still not back up yet!).

I have the contact number of Amos Dong, the owner of pixcle.com but the phone was not picked up. I noticed they are based in Bandar Baru Nilai (suspecting these are operated by students?)
QUOTE(my44 @ Dec 9 2006, 12:36 AM)
pixcle already explained what happened for that 16-hour downtime (that's VERY long for me!). One of their network cards was damaged, so the whole network was "down".

Quite interesting story because how come you only have one "Gigabit Network Card" for your whole operations? If indeed they only have one network card to rely on, suppose another maloperation happens again, then server downtime will occur again.

I'm seriously thinking of switching hosting (yet again! yes, I keep falling for these Malaysian hosting companies who claim to have Singapore internet exchange for reliability).

Yes, we have servers at Netmyne(Shared Hosting) and AIMS(Dedicated Servers).

Hi sampride,

I'm interested to sign up with your Netmyne Cyberjaya hosting (IP: 202.71.103.138). I'm sick of pixcle.com. How do I specify that I want my website to be hosted at Netmyne?

Regards

You mentioned about uptime guarantee. Any proof of your past track record in server uptime as monitored by 3rd party web monitoring stats?

Its lucky I found it out before I made a payment.

VERY interesting conversation. At least there was somebody on the end of the so-called 24-hours-customer-support-online. Unlike most other Malaysian web hosting which claim to have online chat but never been online.
