Thanks for the tip.
I did a quick test and the 3G speed is similar to HSPDA.
EDGE of course was nowhere near either of them.
But how come HSPDA's speed is similar to 3G?
I thought HSPDA was faster than 3G?

yes its maximum speed is higher, but if digi cant provide faster, higher also no use right? so might as well disable it for now icon_idea.gif

nope, originally there's

gprs, edge, 3g, hsdpa, hsupa(H+) , depending on signal strength and telco support or not, the connection will drop from right to left. what you're doing is disable hsupa(H+) so your phone wont have to scan for the availability of H+ anymore. i cant say it'll save battery, but it definitely wont drain battery smile.gif

hahas miui cant really help you much until someone who uses it comes out.

usual procedure
download and put inside your internal memory, flash cf-root, enter cwm, wipe data(factory reset), choose install zip from sd card, choose miui's .zip, select yes, then wait it flash.

Why so mafan and need to deal with all such tuning ?? Just get another spare battery or a portable external charger. Even the original 1650 mah battery is now cheaper at RM 80+ only or get Momax 1650 about RM 50+ or even cheaper Andid RM 30+

i cant be sure it'll improve or not la, i'm neither a samsung engineer nor am i an e&e engineer sweat.gif
if you turn off hsdpa you will get 3G icon. if you really want save you can try change to 2G(edge/gprs) but it'll be slow. also if you're lazy turn on/off, why dont you install juice defender or green power(recommended) then set it to enable data only when you unlock your phone? icon_idea.gif

changing da charging rate frm da kernel is rather unsafe in the long run.

assuming da circuit that breaks the charging is built on da main board (judging frm da ability to software tweak da charging rate) it's generally not safe to increase da current as the operating current is inversely proportional to the life span of some components

about the circuit - it functions to cut off any further charge to the battery(in other words, to prevent them from overcharging) china made batteries lack this circuit or have defective circuit, so they tend to swell up when overcharged..

Maximum current output for USB 2.0 is 500mA. since output is fixed, there is no way to trick da phone into taking more current. unless u use usb 3.0 (900mA) output

some portion of the current will be lost as heat, that's y battery heats up during charging. it actually decreases the charging efficiency therefore it is better if u place ur phone in cooling area while charging.

3G and HSPA speed depends a lot on ur location n ur telco. my umobile can easily hits 10mbps at puchong, but crawling at 1.5mbps in cheras. at my office which is near bukit bintang, 5mb no sweat.

Should be at most similar in cap to the Original. Nothing more. Seriously people, the battery cannot really contain any thing more if it's not physically bigger. Plus cells might be of suspect quality and might not last as long.

It might be cheaper then Ori though.

But like I said, I have enough batteries to last me a week nowadays lol. Even thinking to get rid of at least 1 of the momax expowers.
