Hi, I got 2 questions.

1. relative got 1 car that already have expired road tax & insurance from MCO period and want to transfer to us. Do i have to renew the road tax & insurance for puspakom transfer of ownership checking first?

2. I got 2 other cars under my name, can i transfer/exchange the NCD between them? Cos the NCD 55% are for my lower value car, where else 30% is for my much higher value car.

I just traded in my 2nd car for a used car for my son. I can answer both your questions.

1. Puspakom does not require valid road tax & insurance. But dont forget its an offence to drive a car without valid road tax & inc. even to Puspakom. Your option is to tow the car. I understand you can request on site Pusspakom inspection. Contact Puspakom for details.

2.Yes NCD transfer to another car is possible, if you are the new registered owner. If car is to be registered to any one other than you, not possible. Any Inc. Co. will assist on this.

its coming to 2023, there must be an easier way to transfer ownership. I remember last time I sold my own car, all these inspection and both seller/buyer no need go to JPJ. We are going backwards.

Note - found got an easier way that is to use MYEG runners.

Yes using runner takes away all the hassle. Although runner fee is $150, worth it. Used car dealer did ever thing, even Puspakom inspection.

Dear SIFU,

I planned to settle my bank loan by tmr morning. Monday I plan to transfer my car to my wife name. May I know what is the right step should I do.

1. Settled car loan and cancel ownership from bank or any release letter
2. Go remove tinted
3. Go puspakom for B5 report (this need appointment or not?)
4. Go JPJ do thumbprint to transfer to my wife (can walk in? Or need appointment?)
5. Done?

Sorry bro, I don't have details or contact. This was arranged by a used car dealer when I traded in MYVI. The car dealer took care of everything. I just handed in my car , did all the paperwork at the dealer's office, took the car I wanted & drove off. Two weeks later collected the registration of the car I chose, from the dealer.

The only hassle I faced was driving back to dealer to collect the reg. card. I live in Sri Damansara, the dealer is at Cheras!

I agreed to buy a 2nd car from private seller. Car rd tax & insurance expired so car will be at his home.

Seller agrees to go together to do name transfer at JPJ, then go to bank to give him cash over the counter.

My concern is if :-

1. I can get the insurance immediately after name transfer

2. car is stolen from the time the name transfer is done, money given but haven't gotten the physical car in my hand, worse if I haven't gotten it insured

If car rd tax/insurance not expired, he can hand me the car while we go to the bank to do transfer.

Am I over thinking this? How can we protect each other?

after transfer, you can buy insurance immediately + road tax; maybe hand over the cash at his house where the car is

Thx.

That's a good idea. Good thing the seller lives nearby.

I will ask the seller to bring the car in front of the bank & hand him the cash at the bank.

Hi guys. I am buying a used car from owner directly. Owner already done the puspakom inspection. So we arranged a date for payment and jpj transfer.

Now I'm trying to buy the car insurance online. But the application is rejected because my IC does not match with the registered owner of the car (obviously). What is the walkaround for this?
*
Hi, how did you handle this in the end?

I contacted the customer service of the online insurance agency and informed them I need a manual quotation.

Lately car sales down or what? I am at Puspakom today and practically don't have queue. Maybe 4 or 5 cars already parked waiting for inspection then no more queue at all outside...

I just engaged a runner to help me do Permohonan Tukar Injin (Engine Change Application). The runner is asking for all-in RM500 free. Is RM500 the fair current market rate? Thanks!

I got it. Not sure why you worried its too dangerous, if they transfer the car but the physical car is with you then what can they do? It was convenient way to do transfer to reduce number of times visiting JPJ and lining up.
