QUOTE(bmkia @ Aug 13 2012, 09:16 AM) Bro, noted. mine is 17" but still waiting for my car. T_TIf possible skip the MC5. If yours is 16in try to get the Yokohama advan db 551. If yours in 17in then go for the goodyear F1 A2. MC5 performance is okay, just damned noisy and loud IMHO. QUOTE(ice-green-tea @ Aug 14 2012, 06:56 PM) Just to share some thoughts after weeks with the conti MC5, Im awared of road noise issue with M3 so first thing i do when I got the car is to check the road noise instead of performance. The first few days, it did annoyed me honestly so I dropped by my friend's tyre shop to get solution. Then I questioned about ps3, a2, Yokohama all that. He is a close friend of mine so he kinda know what's the point behind my questions, without talking much he hooked up 4 ps3 used tyre with 70% thread left and went for a test drive with me. i was thinking to distract myself with music in the car. I will be travel on highway more often, that's y i m concern on the road noise. There was improvement although it's used tyre, but it's not a Super Huge one from what I expected. He kinda explained to me in detailed that there is always certain noise level when come to R17 45/40 series tyre, it is just how bad or worse and how well you can take it as time goes(depends on each person preference). From there I realized I actually magnified this issue a lil too much within myself. True enough, after 2 weeks driving the car my attention over road noise issue actually got distracted by every other bits of the car. The smoothness, handling, keyless, styling etc... Just got to say I love driving it. Performance wise of MC5, I would say its fair though. Only one thing need to pay attention, while taking a big curvy corner with the speed of 110-120. When the road is a little uneven, the tyre seems can't get enough traction and under steered could happen then you will find the car is slightly sliding towards your next lane. Don't get me wrong, I'm talking about those smooth curvy corners on bigger road or fly-over. Not sharp corners with the speed of 110, those sharp corners only Hamilton can do it with that speed. Way too dangerous to do that though. Overall conclusion, it's not really that bad with the MC5 but definitely room of improvement is there. If budget is with you and having a thought of changing, Why not? There are many other cool features could easily drive your attention away, that's why we are landed here with our M3... If i have an option to have lower noise, better or same traction and handling, why not? I am not into tyre much, that's y need your input and your review which is really valuable for me. QUOTE(kinx @ Aug 14 2012, 08:04 PM) Not that into tires myself, I don't pay that much attention to the road noise.... It is noisy, but not till the extent that it becomes a concern to me... for me, I'm more into safety, I don't mind spending for safer performance tires... Enjoy every bit of driving my M3 everyday... handling is superb P/S: Am thinking of changing to 18" rims |

I went to see the GLS HB that i booked and not happy with the color.. was told by my salesman that it is graphite mica but it is not the same as what we used to see... aihh... Decided to change it to White.
Also i noticed the gap between tyre and body is really huge. I'm thinking of eibach spring. Anyone can share eibach experience here? How much does it cost for M3? |

My HU is the black glossy Caska unit, the radio reception is quite poor, noise alot for listening to FM. Just wanna know if any M3 bro here with same model of HU, caught in this issue as well? Personally, i drive around PJ area, i nvr feel the noise in my old Iswara, but this Mazda, it is YES. Just curious, hope i can find a way to rectify it, cause i only has radio player in Iswara, so already get use to listen to FM daily....pls share...thanks alot. |

I am not into tyre much, that's y need your input and your review which is really valuable for me. I am finally happy with my M3's road noise after soundproofing my car as per below. Here is the solution, go to KK Lau Audio (google them, they have a website) in Ara Damansara and apply Dynamat Extreme to your M3:- Here is what I did and I am damned happy with the results:- 1st Stage:- (Total RM1.7K -15 pieces of Dynamat Extreme and some insulation materials including workmanship) 1) Apply Dynamat Extreme to 2 front wheel wells (2 pieces of Dynamat & some insulation material) 2) Apply Dynamat Extreme to the Hood (2 pieces) 3) Apply Dynamat Extreme to the 4 doors (double layered) - 8 pieces 4) Apply Dynamat Extreme to sides of the trunks (3 pieces) I was so impressed and amazed with the results and am still running on my stock MC5. IMHO, this alone managed to cut 40-50% of the road noise. I was so impressed that I went back for 2nd stage the next day(RM1.5K for another 12 pieces of Dynamat Extreme and and some insulation materials including workmanship:- 1) Dynamat the floor (8 pieces) 2) Dynamat the roof (3 pieces) Not so much improvement for stage 2. Just maybe another 5-10% reduction in my IMHO but I haven't tried it under heavy rain yet (for the roof Soundproofing). I drove back on the federal highway (smiling all the way) with my music mute and for the 1st time ever, I really enjoyed the ambiance of the car and its low road noise all the way back to OKR. Don't bother with Autofoam's soundproofing, the owner there oversells but does not deliver. Head to KK Lau, the owner there does not know how to sell or have the gift of the gab (his command of English is not good), but his humble nature, SP methods and products really work. I could have saved RM3.2k earlier if I just went to KK Lau instead IMHO, if you really want to cut down the M3's road noise to an acceptable level, pay RM1.7K and spend half a day in KK Lau. That is all it takes. For me, I have spent almost RM6.5K and three half days as follows:- 1) Autofoam (RM3.2K - Waste of time & money (except the comfort autofoam (that isnt really SP anyways) 2) Stage 1 in KK Lau (RM1.7K) 3) Stage 2 in KK Lau - (RM1.5k) This post has been edited by bmkia: Aug 17 2012, 09:52 PM |

guys, how frequent you wash your car, mine is white.
since our car coming with TRIBOS coating, do you guys wash yourselves or wash outside? anyone buy the Tribos shampoo (how much?)? Or which shampoo is good? for warranty, i think we should register again at their website, i'd email to TRIBOS and they asked to register again. http://www.triboscoatingsautomotive.com/wa...y-registration/ |
