well, maybe u can start off with DSP architecture and slowly branch towards graphics engine
i'm sure fishchicken has lotsa articles on it

talking abt DSP , I find it alarming to come across so many candidates that have no clue on Nyquist sampling rule. That is like the most fundamental theory before we even go into signal processing and stuff. some can't even answer what would happen if you feed in signal into an ADC that violates that rule ( answer : aliasing ).

lol, i guess it depends wat u wanna focus it on
some ppl when doing DSP, they use it as an intended signal processing(filters)
but some ppl are only interested in it's mathematical prowess
how to develop the a DSP that uses the multiplier methods that have a balance between intended workload(bit size) and speed
i have one person at my company that is all crazy about multipliers
as long as it can improve speed, he'll be very interested on how to implement into our hardware laugh.gif

Yeah i love math units as well. I was recently working on multipliers, helping out my friend with his project. Architecture is one thing. Layout for large fancy multipliers can get funky if you're doing full custom. Mad wiring.

Long time didn't reporting in.

Having not much chances to touch electonics things after chg job, more towards software engineering and RTOS stuff. sad.gif

@lgh > from ur posts, i'm quite sure u are working in ag***** under FPGA team.

Recently i'm going interview with the company and yeah, they do like to ask Nyquist Theorem stuff. luckily i still remember it sweat.gif but i had forget much about aliasing (i can imagine in my head but just dunno how to explain it). I hope u are not the 1 who interview me, LOL

Speaking of Nyquist, i remembered the manager did ask me a question but not sure what is the answer. The questiom goes like this, let say i have an ADC which need to sample signal with max 500MHz, so with Nyquist theorem, we need min sampling freq of 1GHz.

But let say now my signal that goes into the ADC normally at 100MHz for example and we did know 1GHz sampling is quite fast. What is the way we can slow down the output data without data loss? Let say now i want to receive my sampling data at 500MHz?

Oh Shannon Nyquist and Shannon Weaver, how could anyone forget thee? tongue.gif

Did network theory for my last exam, tons of questions pretaining to that, and even a f***ed up section on Turbocodes.

My research on temporal streaming prefetchers for a CPU. Finally done. rclxm9.gif

Turned out pretty good too. No fancy hash functions and all that. Simple and nice, and actually hardware viable unlike many other similar papers including the one we based our design on.

I thought it was 68HC11 and not 6800?

lol, i remember linking up to that, writing code with MS text in ASM and using Kermit to upload it to the MC praying the gods of serial would allow it through at 2400 bps.

There are also many microcontrollers descended from the 6800 architecture, such as the Motorola 6801/6803, 6805, 68HC08, 68HC11 and 68HC12.

ss 68HC11 same with 6800 ??

hi, welcome!
computer engineering study in depth about hardware, and also its relation with software.
IT / comp science focus more on software and coding, and little on hardware.
Besides, computer engineering graduate is a professional, whereas IT/comp science graduate is not.
