It does say 1.0 inside the Control Panel, but it says 1.3 both under the router and on the box.

Anyone can help me out on OpenWRT? First after I installed it, I followed the guide at Openwrt http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/recipes/3gdongle

at first I managed to get this message:
usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic
usbserial: USB Serial Driver core
USB Serial support registered for GSM modem (1-port)
usbcore: registered new interface driver option
option: v0.7.2:USB Driver for GSM modems

But after I restarted, the message changed to alot of errors about USB_WWan and more. Sorry couldnt paste the error here because I reflashed to original firmware to get back online.

Then I also could not dial the 3g, even after I edited the 3gchat to dial *99# instead of the default. Ifup wan returns no message at logread.

I don't think so. Customers need to walk-in.
I think there are sellers on Garage Sales section that carry this model. You may check it out.

Is this true?

MR3420 settings for 300Mbit/s speed (40MHz channel width). In case you guys unable to get 300Mbit/s connection, use this settings. Only for OpenWRT firmware & only with wireless card that support 40MHz channel. Also for 802.11n connection, security mode must WPA-AES or WPA2-AES (WEP & WPA-TKIP are not supported).

Settings:-
(Set Channel = Auto)

(Set "HT Mode" = "40MHz 2nd channel above")

Many thanks!!! notworthy.gif
I just realize that choosing different country will give you different options in the transmit power part:
SG - up to 20dBm (100mW)
US - up to 27dBm (501mW)

Yup, so far so good. I don't see much difference in performance, maybe slightly faster reboot or modem detection. Unless you need the added features in OpenWRT, the stock firmware should be sufficient. You'll need some Linux command knowledge if you run into issues with OpenWRT.

I suggest everyone take a look at Asus RT-N13U
http://my.asus.com/Networks/Wireless_Routers/RTN13U/

It's a 3G router with better spec compared to MR3420 and better

MR3420 having QC issue

Hey bro

I just tested a Huawei E372 with Asus RT-N13U B1..it is working fine. Just make sure the firmware is the latest.

stability is very subjective for 3G connections. It's not entirely rely on the router. Anyway, I do find that OpenWRT reconnects faster after a disconnection happens compared to the stock firmware. One thing I like most in OpenWRT is the ability to set schedule task. I use it to reboot the router every Monday on 4am. This will ensure the router are in a fresh state. You can schedule the task based on your preference, if needed, you can schedule it as frequent as you want.

At times when the modem hanged, I have to unplug the modem and plug it back in to restore the connection as rebooting won't help. This happen to both custom and stock firmware.

Not very stable with 3G as there's no native 3G support until now
Sometime the 3G modem "hang" or disconnected need power cycle to reconnect.

Rebooting wont help
