Question:
When you purchase an app from OVI Store, if the same app available for Symbian, do you need to purchase again?

Of course lah, Andy. Symbian is Symbian, N9 is N9. Ovi store cheated me on one paid app. It's supposed to allow me to download free up to 10 times but the second time it asked for payment. Emailed them quoting their email payment confirmation but got no reply. Luckily only RM2.00 lost but still, the pain....aargg!

weird leh. Which app? All the paid apps i bought can re download, no extra payment. I re download 2 to 3 times some more cos re install pr 1.1 update.

Dunno sifu I bought the app from nokia store from n9. Then I go to my symbian ^3 nokia store check under downloads its there so I download. Did this for all my phones

OK, maybe my info not accurate because I was basing on logic only. Better believe the sifu.

Ha ha, thats nice. But logic is the same app for symbian cannot work for meego, os different.
now aspire mention, i remember wallpaper can work for both. I had a few wallpapers from symbian that automatic appear on n9, can re download free. Apps i dont see any from symbian, but then those i use symbian one and n9 one is different - like youtube downloader, symbian one i think wouldnt be compatible with meego.

This can be a game changer. imagine Nokia now going to have 3 OS. That's crazy, People will start to think and question should they stick to Nokia.

What's wrong with Nokia having 3 OS? It's the biggest phone company in the world in terms of physical assets. Samsung has 3 OS - Android, Bada & WP7.

In fact I believe Nokia should have gone for a multi platform approach all along instead of killing of Symbian and Meego and depending solely on WP7.

Welcome to the world of QT. Nokia been talking about it since the launch of nokia n900.

Nothing wrong with having multiple OS, but if one need to purchase every app again it can be a problem, mainly for the users.

1. Long-term Symbian user who have spend a lot on Symbian apps.
2. Today, he/she buys N9, start from ZERO, have to buy all the apps again. What will he/she feel and think?
Imagine Android or iOS, whether they upgrade or replace new device, their purchase is there. Yes, it because they stick to the same OS, but to a user, that's not the main point. For Nokia Store/OVI Store, you're using the very same account; At the very least, they can work something out if they want their uses to stay.
3. Tomorrow, comes Windows Phone, again, have to buy everything again.
Many users may just switch to other instead of staying with Nokia.
Or imagine someone who owns Symbian and MeeGo device, and later Windows Phone. Having own 3 different device, and need to purchase 3 times using the same Nokia OVI Account.

This purpose is to help feedback to Nokia and hope they can work something out. Can someone please verify if needs to purchase again for MeeGo/N9?

To those that had been saying that N9 is that last of its kind so the ecosystem is doomed, yada yada. Well I was totally shocked when I logged into to Nokia Store last night. So many apps added. It's crazy, i had downloaded a few more. I added at least 3 more games, Circus, EvidenceHunter and Urban FatBurner. Now if only ebuddy XMS just release its beta now.
