After about 5 days of usage, I notice some bugs for my Nokia N9, let me list down in summary first -MfE issue -Feed screen issue -FB & Google talk issue -Poor Wifi issue -Video Playback issue -No Msn/YM connectivity and Lack of whatsapp which probably will never happen (personal pet peeves)
The MfE issue is related to “Can’t connect to server” error, I already highlighted to a guy who works in Nokia on MfE client for N9 regarding the sync issue. Basically it will show the error after you initiated first sync. I would need to toggle Non-provisional device off only be able to initiate the subsequent sync and toggle the option on again to initiate another sync. So it would be extremely fiddling everytime I want to sync my Microsoft exchange account.
Feed screen issue. I notice that feed screen can’t be set to update manually, even if I set it to be manually updating, it will still update once every 1 hour. I also find it generally annoying that feed screen would auto scroll to top everytime I switch to another home screen and switch back. I would like to stay where I am reading. Another thing is (though not bug), is the inability to filter through feeds. I have lots feeds and would love to filter them sometimes, the feature is unavailable.
FB and Google talk always give me password incorrect error when I first try to connect, it will only work after 2nd and sometime 3rd attempt to connect. Another google talk issue is that, it’s not able to detect Nimbuzz or 3rd party app that supports voice call for google talk as available to voice talk. Thus can’t initiate call though can still receive call from them.
One more thing, the reception for wifi is quite poor. Hardware limitation I guess but gsm and 3G reception is phenomenal, I guess there is a trade off.
I’ve not tried mkv video yet but I tried one thing I’ve never expect it to fail. Videos from N8!! I transferred the videos taken by N8 (using the beta camera app which supports 30fps video shooting) and it will not play smoothly, it just stutters all the time. Videos of 25fps from N8 plays without problem though.
And I am still looking for ways to connect to MSN and YM, my 3rd largest friend’s list after whatsapp and fb chat. *Speaking of whatsapp, [rant mode] I know what I am getting into, in fact I am still keeping my n97 mini for whatsapp but I can’t help feeling a bit restricted without it. Speaking of which, I kept bombarded by friends on FB for switching over without whatsapp. They are nasty bunch, I am telling you[/rant mode]
By the way, any N9 gathering? I secretly need to plot for the unlocking of NFC level for my angry bird so that I can keep on playing after being stuck with on 5 levels. HEHE

QUOTE(merajey @ Oct 17 2011, 09:05 PM) owh...ok I rephrase my question : nokia n9 got a pre installed application named Feeds right??so in order to add your favorite feeds you have to type in the address one by one. Since I do have a google reader account do any of the sifus here know how to import the google reader feeds to the pre-installed Feeds application on N9? I have test the Newsflow but it can't support offline reading. no you cant do that on feeds, it is just an rss reader, it will not be able to read google reader's feed for you, however, u can download the app called newsflow from nokia store, that is a third party google reder Added on October 18, 2011, 9:34 amBy the way, to those who reported extremely good batt life. Did you turn on the online mode for chats? This post has been edited by nebousuke: Oct 18 2011, 09:34 AM

To those who interested to to connect to MSN and YM please follow the following guide, I already did it. It worked! But you have to enable developer's mode first and gain access to Terminal, also you need to have software like Gajim on your computer to activate the service for MSN and YM for your Jabber account. This is to setup Jabber account for you to connect to MSN and YM http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1049366&postcount=12This is for you to manually insert Jabber account into the N9, needs terminal access http://wiki.meego.com/Migrating_from_N900_...e_account_setupTS please insert this to the beginning of the page. MeeGo was the promised child of 2 years ago, I followed the Qt migration path strategy for Symbian to MeeGo/Maemo. It was the best strategy and I believed to its vision of total integration across the devices in our daily lives, then came February 2011. Everything changed.
The reason I bought N9 no longer valid to my original believes. I buy just for the sake of owning this extinct beast. It was rather emotional purchase than a sensible one.

I am really amazed by how people can conserve their battery up tp 2.5 days. I tried most of the options. Let's talked about this morning. From 7am onwards, I am conencted to skype, facebook chat, google talk and MSNYM(via jabber) and i read some news, check some email and chat with someone here and there, max i give those usage a total 1.5 hours of continuous usage. After that I turned off my connection to chat though the feeds from twitter, fb and AP news are still updating in background (the update interval cannot be set, don;t know how). I also set my other RSS feeds to pull feeds every 3 hours. I turned off Push notification as well. Yet despite all these usage I am not getting 56% of battery left by 11.30am.
I checked with battery monitor, highest usage is from MeeGo system itself(no other detailed breakdown unfortunately). I had also enable developers mode but I doubt it affects the battery life. So why am I getting such a different battery life than some of the forumers here?

I do not have BT on, I don't turn on email push at all. And I switched to GSM. So I don't know what's culprit. It says "MeeGo System" the biggest culprit but no idea what is that

I am using Digi GSM only, in PJ. Considerably alright. But I suspect something running because I enable developer's mode Added on October 19, 2011, 12:23 pmQUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 19 2011, 12:09 PM) Also, it depends on your telco too. If your telco's signal is weak, it will consume more power (especially on 3G). I am currently using Celcom and got 2.5 days MAX (less by 1 hour). Do you enable twitter feed, FB feed and AP news feed on the Notification home screen? This post has been edited by nebousuke: Oct 19 2011, 12:23 PM

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 19 2011, 12:52 PM) Twitter feed - yes Facebook feed - yes AP news - totally no. RSS - notification screen no, manual retrieval. I don't see a need to set it to auto. Are you constantly connected to Edge or constantly connected to wifi? Coz' I am constantly connected to Edge instead of wifi due to the fact that my office has no wifi, that might be a significant factor perhaps

QUOTE(joshuawong @ Oct 19 2011, 01:31 PM) Have u enable power saving mode? It actually help alot Power saving mode renders the point of the whole mobile as useless as it disconnects all the connection. I am trying to find out what's the difference between my usage pattern ViRaViRa and I as I really am bizzare by his high standby time. And he seemed to not differ that much with how I use my mobile. So I am hoping that he could answer how he connects to internet all the time. Via Wifi or Edge.

Sthing to do with 'ssh server', whatever that is. Yeah i saw that as well... but I thought I might get some answer over here as well. Did ViraVira enable Developer's mode?

I think favourites on the map should have search ability.. total pain in the ass to look up my favourites right now. Also the Drive App should have my favourite within as well instead of launching map, then pick my favourite, then launch drive app. Back to my quest for battery good battery life, I’ve disable developers mode and deleted all the relevant packages. I wanted to do a thorough test, but forgot to charge my phone this morning, only charged up to 82% (7.45am). I’ve got myself connected to edge all the time with RSS feed pulling feeds every 3 hours and push email, connected to chat once 1 to 2 hours.Usage pretty normal, checking news and chatting during breakfast and some reply of sms during office hour. Now I left 28% (5.17 pm), seemed like some improvement. But I would try again with a full charge tomorrow.

QUOTE(Upsilon @ Oct 20 2011, 09:01 PM) updates for ur app? Added on October 20, 2011, 9:40 pmjust in case someone is still looking for a way to unlock angry bird magic levels, our I/C, touch n go cards, and access cards (for those automated gates) can be used lol~ OMG THAT'S BRILLIANT!!!! Added on October 21, 2011, 2:20 pmQUOTE(joshuawong @ Oct 21 2011, 12:03 AM) As all of you know that our Twitter client app on N9 is very basic and we can't share photo with it. Just to share a way you can have twitpic http://theidealmobile.blogspot.com/2011/10...to-sharing.htmlThe new update PR1.1 for N950 has pic.twitter feature added on the twitter client, hope it will come to us soon. Hope to see N9 to growth! I am using Pixelpipe via email instead. Can upload to multiple services but somehow their tag service not working right now. DOn;t know why Added on October 21, 2011, 2:34 pmI wonder if any works is being done in optimizing the Notification home screen or even the notification for this matter. Because right now I felt that the current solution is to put it bluntly rather resources hogging. Everytime when twitter and FB updates itself on the homescreen, the entire phone feels so lag. Or when a chat notification appears on top of the taskbar, it will just become jerky while I was scrolling down through the pages. That makes the user experience bad. QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 21 2011, 04:44 PM) New record today - Battery life 2.5 days + extra 2 hours Previous records :- 1) 2.5 days (less 1 hour) 2) 2.5 days (less 3 hours) That sounds more like idle time then using it. I have an average of active usage of 2.5 to 3 hours daily, impossible to get the results you published here. Maximum I can last till night time.

wifi reception is generally not too good for N9, i am struggling at some spots in the house too. But please read this http://konttoristhoughts.blogspot.com/2011...ml#comment-form, he explained that reception improves a lot on PR 1.1 f/w update plus lots of feature and bug fix
