QUOTE(andrekua @ Oct 12 2011, 07:59 AM) MKV is just a container really. There are so many formats nowadays. Even MP4 itself contain over close/over 10 different profile. N9 also support MP4 but the old hardware says it all. Maybe an OS upgrade will bring it up to speed. There's a VLC Player under development which may solve most of the incompatible format problem. I hope it's not hardware related. But in the meantime there are lot's of converters around which you can use to convert to a compatible format. I find that Any Video Converter's (free) customized MP4 movie works well.N8/C7/E7 video accelerator is much more advance than N9. MP4 also got few different profile and sadly N9 hardware support the most basic one. Last year when I got the N8, I was using Legend and it can't play a shit. Now, a year later, I have to say there's no reason we will face this again except to say that Nokia SCREW UP N9 ON PURPOSE. That's it... This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 12 2011, 08:28 AM |

Friends, just to let you know some of the games which were free in Ovi store and My-Meego have become paid apps. I don't know if or when the rest will follow but you may like to act on it.

The difference is usually obvious only in low light shots. In good light you can hardly tell the difference between N8, N9, digicam or DSLR.
To me a camera phone is just for record shots. For those important holidays and event photography I'll use my Nikon D300. I'll never dream of using a phone camera. However camera phones have got so good that many users are thinking of using it as their main camera. You should only do that if image quality isn't critical to you. And the best phone camera out there is N8, period. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 12 2011, 12:17 PM |

QUOTE(andrekua @ Oct 12 2011, 07:56 PM) LOL Looks like the E6 font is even more tiny. Even for young people will be straining their eyes. Especially 2nd photo. This already magnified view. For actual view, how?I thought I'm the only one who feel so... The smallest font ever? Oh wait... A side by side snapshot with E6... Wow, not that small really... i guess my eyes get used to S2 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 12 2011, 08:33 PM |

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Oct 12 2011, 09:25 PM) E6 the font size can be changed, got medium & large. N9 dunno if got or not You older than me? Sure or not?Added on October 12, 2011, 9:28 pm Alamak tuan. I think I older than some of you, you need 8 eyes? Can't find any option to change font in N9. Well, I reckon the OS still isn't polished yet. Other niggles are no cover flow in music player and no equalizer. Also yahoo mail and pop mail have no push email support. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 12 2011, 09:45 PM |

QUOTE(Jo@NJS @ Oct 12 2011, 10:25 PM) Agree, worked with laptop, hp, etc etc. To me, everything is perfect except that i really need a screen protector. The unit i bought for my wife already got 2 lines of scratches sigh It may be pretty hard to find a screen protector for N9 so just cut your own from any screen protector which is bigger than the N9 screen. I cut mine from a 7" Galaxy Tab screen protector, one piece can cut 3. It's just rectangular with no holes so very easy to cut. The longer you leave your screen unprotected the more risk of scratches so stop looking for a special N9 protector. |

I'm satisfied with the battery. With the same usage I can charge up once in 2 days compared to once a day with my previous phone.

Yes, fully agree with Andy. A smartphone is meant to be used to the fullest so charge everyday if you have to. If you can get through one working day good enough. No need to set your screen brightness to the minimum just to save battery, just enjoy your beautiful screen.

When you add a contact is there any way to make it store on the SIM instead of on the phone?

But N8 has a physical camera button. How different is the operation between physical and soft button? I think the physical button reduce possible shake, no? In terms of speed won't the physical button be faster to whip out and operate?

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 14 2011, 12:15 PM) You mean N9 has less shutter lag? There's one type of shot which only only physical button can do - the self shot. Maybe, just maybe, someone may produce an app to map the volume buttons to zoom in/out and the power button to snap. Here's a camera comparison between N8 and N9 in gsmarena. Of course we already know the answer. http://blog.gsmarena.com/quick-camera-comp...ia-n8-featured/ This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 14 2011, 01:32 PM |

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 14 2011, 01:51 PM) Erm, is the photo quality of N9 that bad? It is all blur. I think the person who took the shots didn't know how to use the AF feature? I don't see any blurriness in that gsmarea link. Of course if you zoom to 100% some parts may look soft. Even DSLRs may be the same unless you're using pro lens.Probably the colour and quality, N8 is very much better but the sharpness couldn't be that much different... |
