Just wondering if anyone here is buying RM3,000 PRS yearly via FSM for tax relief purpose ?

In this scenario I plan buy using DCA method , 1k August, 1k September, 1k October, all is for the same fund > Principal RetireEasy 2050

As I read from the thread , FSM receipt is not acceptable for tax relief, if that the scenario where can I get all the 3 receipt ?

Do I contact Principal Asset Management Berhad
Customer Care Centre ask them issue me these receipt ?

Thank you !

Principal will send you an annual statement sometime next year Q1. The statement will have the total contribution you made this year. That statement will be the best proof for your tax relief. So it does not matter whether you buy from FSM or somewhere else. As long as you put money in the principal PRS fund, you will get the statement.

Me. I have been I vesting since najin intro it. Even got free RM1k from najib. Ye si only use FSM to buy my PRS.

I just lump-sum once a year. Don't really bother about DCA. You can just buy every month also if you want. I prefer lump sum as that way I get it off my to do list for the year.

Yes they can email you backdated statement. Keep your eye out for SMS send to your phone. They will tell you when the statement is available to be downloaded.

actually can see all in the PPA website, if you login and go to My Account > Annual Statement, so doesn't matter what provider you use. I can see my old public mutual and my new Versa/AHAM PRS statements there too.

The is no such thing might as well. During July 24, you didn't sell because thinking it can hit RM29.6k in times to come.
I had the same thing from Jul 24 till now in my UT via KWSP. In Jul, it was 22% profit and now is -1.75% (vs. initial investment, a switch of fund in Sept 23).

This is investment, its a long term or you realized if you objective is met. no regrets after that

Well said.

And most of us put money into prs mainly for tax deduction. If depends on return alone I don’t think anyone in their right mind would invest in prs.

So my stance is. Not loss earn average is enough. The key is reinvest (not PRS) the saving you earn from the tax deduction. If you keep spending the tax deduction, you lose the compounding interest on that and in the long run putting money into PRS is kinda futile.

That and also its part of “diversification”

if as you said , PRS aim is to gain tax relief 25% or so

And no body put money in PRS as investment...

and you said as long as your PRS dont lose money you are happy already...

The question now is if your PRS has made significant profits
why not sell them off then? especially the portions that there is no penalty 8% Can use that money to diversify......

its a small amount. and PRS means keep and let it grow, not be a smart ass change here and there, just like any DCA.
like i said, its diversification, if i want to play, optimize i have other fund for that.

its just like EPF, many ppl say not earning good enough bla bla bla, try to optimize try to blame here and there coz less flexibility.
yeah i did think about it long ago but now epf is the safety net. shouldnt touch shouldnt worry.
again, if i want to optimize my investments, i need to save for the fund and invest.
if i couldnt save that money and invest and i always make noise and touch my epf for investment then i'm doing it wrong.

not to say my way is the best way but thats just what it is. usually over optimizing point to one thing, one dont have enough fund to begin with.
so work on getting more fund to do more diversification so one could take a small chunk, take more risk, to earn more.

if i need more fund, i could always take from my reserve cash.

btw what portion no 8% penalty lol?

Yeah I also don't go dig EPF money to try invest outside

But I got fed up seeing my PRS profits yoyo from 14800 down all the way to half or lower, that's when the idea to sell when it is coming up now...

Sure if got penalty 8% and profit too small then not worth the effort might as well just let it continue....

So it depends on individual case...

Isn't there a penalty / tax if you sell PRS fund before retirement?

For this year, I have invested RM 2k in Principal PRS Plus Principal RetireEasy 2050 - Class C.

In order to obtain to personal tax relief of RM 3k, I need to invest another RM 1k in that PRS.

The issue is that the NAV of Principal PRS Plus Principal RetireEasy 2050 - Class C is highest year-to-date.

Initially, I want to wait for its NAV to decrease, before I invest the remaining RM 1k.

However, its NAV keeps on increasing, and is good for those who who want to withdraw from the PRS at age 55 or above for retirement.

For someone like me who is many years away from retirement, it is painful to perform additional investment into that PRS.

Hopefully, by the end of this year, there will be a period of lower NAV, for me to perform additional investment into that PRS.

How do you know when it will increase or decrease? What if you keep waiting and it keep increasing? For long term holding just invest and don't try to time it.

How frequent do you invest in PRS?

Do you perform lump sum RM 3k investment in the beginning of the year, or do you invest RM 250 every month (as you said, ignoring whether the NAV is high or low)?

I invested lump sum usually at the start of the year. Make my life easier because don't need to think about when need to invest. Don't need to allocate some of my money for it after dumping it into PRS.

You can wait but sometimes not worth to wait as no sale and price keep going up.

I don't really care as it's RM3k and I can't touch the money.

For my stock I am more selective about when to buy.

I dump in 3k per year. That’s it. I don’t buy monthly. Small amount and it’s for long term so I don’t bother.

I'm lazy to decide when to go into the market for PRS, so I just let the campaign benefit decide it for me.

Past few years have been dumping it lump sum during year end for FSMOne RM40 promotion.

This year I'm DCA-ing into Versa PRS as you get 1% extra when completing the PRS quest.

Market ups and downs are not guaranteed, but campaign benefit is brows.gif

For the PRS funds , how certain are we to get back the capital once we attain age of 55? PRS value depends on performances of the funds.
