o.. i thought PB mutual fund is doing good then the PRS will be the same too...
These are the PRS u recommend?

Cimb PRS Asia Pacific
AmPRS REITS
KenangaPRS
*
PB Mutual is not doing good when you compare with it's peers (other fund which invest in the same region)

Just choose one.

who is the guarantor for PRS ? it is more like buying mutual fund?
*
PRS is a unit trust/mutual fund except when you compare with traditional ones, this one lock your money up until 55 years old devil.gif

What is the difference between PRS and PRS public mutual?
*
Prs is UT but unlike normal UT, this one need to hold until retirement. PRS public mutual means the PRS is sold by public mutual lo. Avoid all public mutual funds.

However, unit price of PM prs funds are lowest. But with 3% charge. Happy choosing.
*
Unit price may be lowest but if they cannot outperform their peers? What's the point of buying then? Something ot think about.

Eg.
PM PRS return of 3-4%
Cimb PRS return of 10-12%

NAV of the fund is not important in this case.

newbie here , any advice, if buy in one lump sum or every month put in some money?and what fund is the best?thks you
*
For PRS, max you buy only RM3k. Don't buy more. tongue.gif
Put in RM3k - market crash, your return langsung (-)
Put in RM3k over period of time, get average returns.

Of course if you can time the market, different story.

Depend on your need. You want fund which invest only in Malaysia or other countries...

*
Like I said. You want malaysia only ke/outside malaysia/real estate ke?
If you are feeling lucky with RM3k, why not?

Oh...dun have much experience on this..I think every where also can if can have good return..dun have any rough idea..
*
You need to decide. Different region different risk/different expected return.

QUOTE(T231H @ Apr 7 2017, 07:43 PM)
the dividend distribution before and after does not make any changes to your available value in the fund.
before dividend you have RM10000 in the fund
after dividend you will have RM10000 (approximately) in the fund too

during dividend distribution...you get extra units but the fund price (NAV) would drops to reflect the extra units given to you....

so you think about it...
*
alex802, you must understand the above so that don't get cheated by agents/marketing people. Also, you decide whether you want to buy from FSM malaysia or buy from agents/banks.

PRS 0%

I was thinking to apply PRS youth, so I can get 1k from government also (I invest 1k only, to reduce tax and get incentive). But she told me that the changes is 5.5%, does it worth that value ?
*
PRS main purpose = get one time free RM1k + up to max RM3k tax relief (which means max for you to buy is RM3k/year).
Of course it's worth it as you are paying less tax and money in PRS is yours rclxms.gif

Up to you if you want to pay 5.5% or pay 0% by using FSM MY.

ASM does not reduce your tax. Being full is just an excuse. Checkout this thread https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4183284

You can actually buy ASM online.

https://www.imoney.my/calculator/income-tax-calculator

tried calculating, why does it show 0  sweat.gif

edit: ok i mistaken the income as monthly, i put one year and tried, tax 300+ without prs. if invest prs 3k then it became 152..
*
Not to mention that RM3k is yours which will be come bigger over time. The difference in RM100+ is not yours but the govt if you didn't buy PRS tongue.gif

Hi can any sifu confirm if the tax relief for PRS is going to increase in the coming years?

I only know the RM3k tax relief is until 2022 only, cant find anywhere stating it will increase after that.
*
Actually it's until 2021. After that it's up to govt want to extend or terminate it totally. I am guessing they will terminste it. A tax relief given = less tax earned. sad.gif

Hi imnotabot,

I just would like to claim tax relief up to Rm3000. how should i go about that?
I saw public bank stated:

Minimum initial contribution for each fund - RM1,000
Minimum additional contribution for each fund - RM100
http://www.publicmutual.com.my/prs/Resources.aspx

is that what u mean is, dump 3k this year, how about next year, do i need to dump another 3k for remaining year to take advantage of tax relief?

Just would like to have basic info before i headover to PBB office.

Thanks in advance bro.
*
Buy any PRS fund with RM3k. Done. That's all.
Yes. Need to dump another RM3k next year.

For PRS, don't think about the tax relief. Think also the about the best bang for buck fund.

If I were you, I will start away from public mutual. Reason:
1) lousy fund (which mean overtime you will get more money if you choose other fund - cimb/kenanga)
2) 3% service charge.

Buy PRS from FSM MY. Zero percent service charge.

Hi, does anyone know when exactly the extra RM1k by government for those under 30 years will be credited into the account?
*
FSM said there are 2x payment in year. One in the middle and one at the end. Depending on when you made your purchase. If before middle of the year, the RM1k will be paid in the middle of the year. If your purchase is after middle of the year, then paymemt will be at the end of the year.

Thank you for the info.

May i ask,

is it we cant sell the PRS until 55 years old? (so every year dump 3k like dat?)
*
Can sell but will kena penalty. 8% of what you sell.
Dump only RM3k in provided there is tax relief. Once tax relief is ended by the govt, no need to topup anymore.

1. People buy PRS so that no need to pay so much income tax.
2. No. It's only 3% each time you buy but with yearly fees from 2nd year onwards. I think RM8+/year. Could be wrong.
3. If you know where to buy, you can get it for free. Only need to pay the yearly fees.

Memang la. You buy from FSM, you let them do the running. Name also under your name. Some more no service charge.

You go buy from the fund house yourself, kena charge 3%+ service charge.

Only for first time. Later on, no need to send any form. Can buy online.
