Was wondering, what are the prerequisites before flashing this ROM? Am currently using an unrooted CSL 2.2 ROM. Suppose I would need at least CWM installed?
*
yup. need rooted 1st.
suggested to flash to cm7.2 nbo 1st ( eav5/ batteryfix nbo)
then flash this gingerb
so far by going this route u wil save from orientation problem

Where to get the CM7.2 nbo? Since I prefer using nb0 format, IMEI wouldn't be lost laugh.gif

Ok, I manage to root the phone using SuperOneClick, so, next step is to flash cm7.2 nbo(which comes with CWM I suppose?) then follow the steps as the blog page of the ROM chef? It seems complicated, a lot of steps to deal with. brows.gif rclxub.gif

Project updates.

Several builds have been tested and the project went well so far.
As you all remember I moved my project to a more capable laptop, I am pleased to say that average build time for each build is no more than 30 minutes. biggrin.gif

For now, theme process is still under development, including transparent statusbar, custom theme for Gaia and several mod. Thanks to UOT kitchen and several of my codes.

Gaia 1.2.0 should improve performance by 40% compared to 1.1.0. Several tweaks I tested and suggestion from terry@android is a go, with promising result. So I am setting the deadline between 1 - 2 weeks to release.

Thanks for the support guys biggrin.gif

Currently I am writing a complete preview of each features of Gaia ROM/Firmware. It will be posted as soon as possible at the development blog so new / veteran users can read through what differentiate Gaia from the rest, all and all, look forward to good news in the future. smile.gif

*
Currently none, as I don't have a mi-357 to work with. I can only work with devices that I currently have (which is the mi300) and other official supported device by cyanogenmod. I can however make a port but there's no guarantee on the stability. Other than that I do have plan for other CSL devices such as the mi410 and mi355 (which is the 357 without the dual sim if I'm not mistaken) as soon as I have the devices at hand.

So it is important that the donations keep on coming / any willing sponsors for this project to grow to be the greatest project, specially for Malaysia which this project currently, correct me if I'm wrong, unofficially the first in Malaysia and used around the world (in record of 4000+ downloads and still counting for Gaia 1.1.0 only).
It is most appreciated for any donations / sponsors received to keep this project alive and kicking smile.gif

Owh and let us not forget those who supported me during the first launched until now, your feedback and suggestion made is what makes this project better and better every release.

Added on March 22, 2012, 11:25 pmNow that the release is getting closer, I decided that it would be useful for some users to watch me work on the draft via Google Docs, you can see the current draft document and comment here for any feedback or suggestion on improving the ROM.

Don't forget to follow me on twitter and check the development blog often biggrin.gif

Added on March 23, 2012, 10:35 pmUPDATE :

On my other project, MIUI port for Z71 shows positive results, finally it boot up showing it's glory. Of course there's bug everywhere, currently the what is not working are :

- WiFi
- Baseband / Radio
- Lockscreen wallpaper changes
- Apps do not show
- other minor bugs

Other than that all are smooth, and stable even under overclock. For now the development will not be prioritize so it will be slow progress. As far as I know, this is the first positive result for MIUI port for z71. Cheers biggrin.gif

@angelictears

improving stability and performance would be a must if it me... nothing else matter

owhhh tongue.gif i got suggestion bout da logo, how bout a picture of earth with a small android logo holding a V flag on top of it with a black backgroud, easy to imagine isnt it? black and white should be enough.

as for boot animation, an animation of invisible BUS(mb board) centered with a microchip printed (AngelicTech) on it, with a glide of white light running through da BUS vein from center, make it a black background

Black is a symbol of elegant and white is pureness, elegant+pure, what else to we need??? hmm.gif

and a droid voice saying INITIALIZING GAIA V 1.2.0

smile.gif juz a suggestion, ignore it if u dislike it, i m really suck at drawing so i can juz giv a simple and easy to imagine suggestion

i hav seen ur log on dev ur project, literally, its up to u on da look n feel, as for me,stock launcher will be flawless as a default.

bout da kernel, juz choose da one u decide, no need for suggestion or explanation as u re da dev here, u re da father this ROM so u will be da one who will decide as what ll be da one n da best, as its not so easy to fulfill all ur users(us) wants n needs.

Good Luck on da RED highlight n Congrat on da GREEN highlight, Thank You so much on ur hard work n may God bless U rclxms.gif

Added on March 24, 2012, 4:46 amAs for da MIUI, i dont really like it so juz continue ur dev on it, as for me, developing ICS mod are more needed, but its juz me, no offense to all MIUI lovers.

As for now, i think focusing on da nex generation of GAIA will be top priority. Personally i also cant wait for da release, but i ll maintain my cool wink.gif n ll wait for it.......

hi guys

need to ask a simple question, anyone know how to enter download mode without da combo mode, adb or anything at least.

I accidentally drop my mi into puddle. normally it will RIP but i luckily managed to recover it by disassemble it part by part and dry it for 2 day, it comes back alive from coma but with end call button totally RIP. I cant find da part for that one so anyone who know a way to enter download mode without da combo button please tell me.

anyway, a quick guide on anyone who got same exp with me. Even ur phone drowned into water, take it back quickly. quickly open ur battery and sun dry 1 day. takes off all part (guide on boston mania) with screw driver and put it with white bread for at least a day in dry condition. Finally assemble it back while checking da board if it already dry. And last but not least, pray for hope when u try to press da power button. Its works for me. smile.gif
