anyway, d group purpose is to get d best price for everyone in the group. =) perhaps d price = US price+tax+shipping and with the lowest premium.

do go check us websites for silver coins prices =)

Well, if the price for bulk buy is more expensive than any other seller we know here, then no point bulk buy any more. smile.gif

I think bulk buy is for either lower price at that moment, or for special edition bars or coins that could be limited in supply and someone found a source while the rest join in and buy.

chef

So what we are doing now is to start with bars, 1 type. then slowly as we pick up momentum, will have more selection or choices.

the process will be like this.

let say for example, we want to buy scottsdale bar, we target around 100oz. so we will announce in the group, we gonna order 100oz so who would like to join, they need to state d amount they want to buy.

so then lets say, i take 10, nidz take 10, chef take 10, n bla bla bla. so we have 10 buyers each take 10oz. so we pay to one appointed member to collect the money (which will be calculated beforehand, including shipping, tax, currency exchange and etc). pay to this appointed member, he will then proceed with the buying from overseas.

the item arrive. then it will divided among the members, 10oz each. ,if place is near, can COD. if not need to add alittle for post. i try last time, 10oz d post is around RM7 only.

the advantage..bulk buying from overseas can get cheap price. but we need to buy in bulk. so thats why we have this bulk-buying together.

Added on October 18, 2011, 12:32 amand again. we will offer this only to FB group member and also Lowyat.net member. we need details and etc. and yes, of course the money to buy d item as well. to avoid any last minute FFK.

1. DIfferent meaning of bulk. For me bulk means 500 oz minimum. 100 - 200 oz is considered small.

2. For some bullion delivery time is very long, so I won't not want to get my $ stuck for long2 time. cannot do business.
upfront payment is required. nevertheless some form of collateral (10oz silver bar etc) can be given once payment is made
let me think how to go about this.will get back to you.

Morning Everyone,

Here is the main procedure I went thru to when i made the purchases.

1. We get the indicative price, then we make a decision on how many we want.

2. We call again to reserve the price and the quantity. Note that the indicative price might differ slightly/vastly from the reserve depending on how long it took to come into a decision or how drastic the spot changed during that consideration period.

3. The reserved price is in USD, as supplier wants to avoid forex losses/gains, so we’ll have to pay in USD.

4. Payment: Once the price is reserved, he’ll let me know which account he wants it in, and how much a he has a few accounts. I’ll get it converted to USD according to the TT rates and send it.

6. Then we wait for delivery ard 7-10 working days

Sounds complicated, but actual fact is just pay and wait for abt a week and a half then the goods will arrive. I have the calculation with me but won't be posting it here for everyone (yet)

Here's the rough idea:

Spot 32.07 USD
Forex 3.17
Sunshin 1 oz 35.8 USD

= 119 MYR per oz (This includes insurance + (xxxUSD every 100 oz )
(The price above is my cost (excluding any slight markup))

Rough pricing for different silver bullions (not latest but just for comparison):

Sunshine
100 oz 35.8
500 oz 35.3

American Flag
100 oz 35.8
500 oz 35.3

Silvertowne
100 oz 35.8
500 oz 35.3

Johnson Mattley
100 oz 45.25

Engelhard
100 oz 36.73
500 oz 36.23

Johnson Matt (fine)
100 oz 51.4

A-Mark
100 oz 40.1

Pamp Suisse
100 oz 49.39

Hmm... collateral... it's a good insurance gesture, but it will be very unfair to you as buyer/middleman.

Maybe in part not whole, say I ordered 40 oz of bars, you give me 1 or 2 pcs 10oz bar. But again, you are taking the risk as well, so unless you benefit a little more. But that may mean the bar will not be cheap enough for bulk buy.

Money stuck in delivery is say 2 weeks as per godslove estimation, but money stuck if the goods is lost in transit, the time needed to claim the insurance will take a while. or stuck in custom buyer will have to go clear it and maybe pay some extra if they demanded it.

so all of us must be ready and willing to participate and take the risk. I'm happy to say I've already known some great people here who are good bulk buy partners!! who never chase me for the goods but I feel equally bad due to the long delivery time like goldchan mentioned.

Ok guys, are we still going ahead with the fb or are we just buying from Goldchan? I have not registered for fb yet so am waiting if we are definitely proceeding with fb. Another question, I like to join the buy purchase but problem is am overseas. What should I do? Can Goldchan or some other trusted person keep the coins/ bars until I pick it up? Please advise.

there are few sellers buying direct from abroad so they know all the procedures and loopholes. i think it's better to buy through them. bargain with them for the lowest possible until you think is fair price. try this first and if it doesn't work out then try another method. by doing this you can save time, paper work and running up and down.

What your goal or objective in bulk buy?
- lower price per oz? how much lower? RM5? Don't forget you need to pay the middle man maybe RM5 also.
- save on shipping cost? metal is heavy can't save much.
- don't know or don't want the hassle of importing from oversea?
