It seems Public Bank have indeed phased out the old red or blue ATM card, meaning no longer issuing new one now. However, if that really is the case and they only issue Day2Day VISA debit card now, they still shouldn't charge you for the card.

Anyway, why don't you send them an email via their website and see how is their response from the HQ ?

Sure will do. However, already deduct RM8 from the card once I received the D2D debit card on the spot.

the bank card still exist in their website http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/perso...ers/edebit.html

so I'm pretty sure the excuse was out of stock / no longer available, blatant way of cheating money if you ask me especially for basic savings acc holders
do update here, i'm pretty sure they will refund you the RM8 (else proceed to complain to BNM), but i'm not sure about the charges for next yr

Due to some transaction needs, just open a Public Bank Basic Saving Account, and requested to have (blue) ATM Bankcard, but the officier said no more, and force me to take Debit card.

Is not about I cannot afford the RM8/year, I just need to check where there is transaction (someone bank-in) online, and can they just force me to take the debit card?
*
When you opening the account, you need to insist have the 'option 1/option 2' for the BSA, some bank place option 1 for no annual fee charges, some is option 2, just refer to their website

i had opened one BSA option 1 with PBB few months ago, they provide me the D2D card but no annual fee charges.
However, all transaction over the D2D card is only 8 times (including ATM and retail transaction with the debit card), the following transaction will be charges 50sens if i am not wrong.

so far as i know, RHB and CIMB also give their rm8 debit card for "no annual fee" BSA. The card will not charges you, but limited to 8 trasactions

It's just "test charge" to check if your CC is valid. This amount will be auto-reversed.

hi guys, i am using maybank visa debit card. i am wondering if i use the card to make a payment overseas, will the rate normally be unfavourable?

I made a payment of 85 pounds and when i checked my account it was deducted at RM 431.94. So i divided the 431.94 by 85 and got the rate of 5.08 which is above the current rate.

Can anyone clarify this? thx

Is there any Debit card that I can get benefits from paying bills online ?

I always help families/freinds pay bills, which almost RM1000+ a month. Unifi, SYABAS, TNB etc.

Any bank that give benefits from these ? Maybe points, rebates etc.
