Hi everyone, this is my first post in this section, I have some question to ask.

i have a RHB Cash Connect Visa DC which connected to my Saving Account, the cash back feature of this card is not as good as my Public Bank Day2Day Visa DC, and this stuff cost me rm20 per annum!!! (Public Day2Day only rm8) mad.gif

The normal RHB debit DC (chepest one, and no normal ATM card already) still need rm8 per annum without any feature!!! vmad.gif
I feel like i want to close this RHB account but no choice since my company used RHB for payroll.

So My question is:
1. Is it possible to switch my cash-connect DC to the normal RHB-Debit DC? (for reduce the yearly rm20 to rm8) laugh.gif
2. Is there any fees need to pay or prepare for this switching?

FYI,

if you do not need the dc, cancel it
ask whether you can convert your existing savings account to basic savings account (Option I) with normal ATM card, refer http://www.rhb.com.my/deposits/savings-acc...basic_main.html

else you might consider opening a new basic savings acc option I, the customer service will tell you blah blah blah, but u just insist that you want BSA option I or else you will complaint to BNM. That's how i get mine done at RHB USJ branch. You can also print the page above and if the cs dares to say they do not have that option, show it to him/her and ask him to chk with the manager or even HQ

fyi, under BNM ruling, all banks in malaysia must provide at least one type of basic savings acc with no annual fees bankard
*
Thanks for your reply

from the saving account on the website, looks like my current one is MySave, which they mention rm20 per card annually.

one more question, does the Basic Account option 1 provide internet banking?

Yes, as long as you have a bankard, you are eligible for internet banking

I will try to convert my account to the Basic, or else create a new Basic account.
However, according to the website, seems like the internet banking service is only for Option II, but you confirm even option I has the internet banking service?

and the "(except GIRO)" does that mean GIRO from internet is not provided? can only do in ATM?

sorry for keep asking

Zero annual fee ? That only applies to select card types, for instance the ESSO VISA debit card which is totally annual fee free. Some other card needs you to swipe the card x times and annual fee will be automatically waived. PBB Day2Day VISA debit card annual fee is indeed RM8. Not sure if they now issue the PBB D2D VISA to basic savings account though...

The zero interest rate is not true.
*
btw,is there any other debit card offered by public bank other than Day2Day which is also link to saving account?

2. If i apply online, what is estimated arrival of card? and upon received, just call to activate just like CC?
3. If i apply in branch, can it process immediately and give me the card? (I wonder because the name need to printed on the card, right?
4. will the esso debit statement account automatically include in my PBebanking account? (currently i have one online account with my saving account on it)

1. Yes.
2. I got my card within 2 weeks and my pin number about a week later.
3. You will still have to wait for them to send you the card even if you apply from a PB branch. My friend applied from a branch while I applied online.
4. No comment since I don't have any account with PB.
*
Thanks for your reply

I think apply online is more convenient since apply in branch still need to wait for the card.

Is the flow look like this? blush.gif
1. apply online
2. received card (~2 weeks)
3. contact PBB for card received
4. PIN received (~1 week)
5. Bank in amount to the account
6. Card ready to use
7. Call PBB for adding this account to my current PBB online account

Thanks you for take your time for reading notworthy.gif
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just tried to apply the Esso debit online, after filling all the stuff.

How do i enclose the signed customer copy and IC copy to Public Bank Card Service? only by post? cannot email??? sad.gif

If I remember correctly, the following events took place :-

1. Applied online. (I didn't mind printing out the copy and mailing it to PB. My friend, however, chose to let PB employee do all the work instead. tongue.gif)
2. Received card. (~2 weeks)
3. Received Pin. (~1 week)
4. Went to PB to set up online banking.

That's it!  thumbup.gif

Alright, i will send the documents today. May i know how to check the card application status later?

Hello guys, some question here. Thank you for your attention

1. May i know is the surcharge of 1-2% by merchant (if applicable) will also apply for debit card user?

2. Other than IT related items in lowyat plaza, is there any other product/item purchase will charges this surcharges by merchant? (from yours experience)

3. Typical minimum spending needed to accept debit card is RM50? is it possible to swipe card if the payment/purchase is below rm50?

Thanks again

Due to some transaction needs, just open a Public Bank Basic Saving Account, and requested to have (blue) ATM Bankcard, but the officier said no more, and force me to take Debit card.

Is not about I cannot afford the RM8/year, I just need to check where there is transaction (someone bank-in) online, and can they just force me to take the debit card?
*
When you opening the account, you need to insist have the 'option 1/option 2' for the BSA, some bank place option 1 for no annual fee charges, some is option 2, just refer to their website

i had opened one BSA option 1 with PBB few months ago, they provide me the D2D card but no annual fee charges.
However, all transaction over the D2D card is only 8 times (including ATM and retail transaction with the debit card), the following transaction will be charges 50sens if i am not wrong.

so far as i know, RHB and CIMB also give their rm8 debit card for "no annual fee" BSA. The card will not charges you, but limited to 8 trasactions

Cash advance/withdrawal fee is aplicable for credit cards only, not debit/ATM cards. And do note, it states no charges for Public bank ATMs only, other bank's ATM will incure RM10 charge.

And i believe your bro should press cash advance.
*
For PBB debit card (not those debit card which directly linked to CASA one)
Withdrawal from non public bank will cost rm10.

So make sure withdrawal from public bank ATM

If your card tied to saving account, then is debit card.

If there is no visa/mastercard logo there.
Then is atm card
