reference price:
XBA-4 JPY 30,975 or RM 1,286 XBA-3 JPY 24,675 or RM 1,024 XBA-2 JPY 18,375 or RM 763 XBA-1 JPY 7,455 or RM 309. (for iPhone-use models, add another JPY 1,000/RM 41 to the price) compared to other BA earphones these are more affordable it seems. [source] |

Who know that will be their good sales point since audiophile also wanna try. Bringing portable chair also will add more fun to the gathering and scare the sales person away. Off topic... No point bring own chair, you need to stand to test it. |

tried 'em out at Sony Building the other day.
while the price's quite irresistible for 4 drivers, personally think that 3 drivers is enough. just briefled tried listen to them, didn't had a distinctive signature, or it's rather bland? need to audition them again when I got the chance. |

We don't have prices for the rest of Asia yet but these are the reference prices for Japan:
XBA-1: 7,455 yen (US$96) XBA-2: 18,375 yen (US$237) XBA-3: 24,675 yen (US$319) XBA-4: 30,979 yen (US$507) All models are available in "iP" versions and that cost about US$16 more. The XBA-series headphones should hit stores in Asia from November |

A slight update - XBA series is officially launching tomorrow in Malaysia. There will be a press event and you might read about it in the newspaper later. I got invited but unfortunately won't be able to be there.

I tried calling sony centre gardens, they said the stock for xba-1 isnt here yet due to the flood in thailand. Which somehow sounds like b/s. Sony centre midvalley however, said they dont sell headphones at all. Maybe my engrish aint that good, i dunno. I specifically said "do you have the xba-1 headphone in stock?" Tried calling sony store klcc, nobody pickup -.-
Where else can i get the xba-1? Really on a rush here since im leaving for kuching this weekend @.@ |

Sucks that they actually said "now available in malaysia", at least thats what i saw on the lowyat frontpage. I cant play the waiting game since i will be leaving for kuching this weekend. And flights without music, in fact anything without music really bores me. |

That why there is:XBA-2 - Dual Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer XBA-3 - Triple Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer + Tweeter XBA-4 - Quad Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer + Tweeter + Super Woofer XBA-1 may suitable for someone who only want to hear full range. I mean more to mid freq. (Like most girl do). |

About sound quality. It lacks bass. But one thing is for sure, the detail in each song i play now is so damn rich, i feel like im on a treasure hunt everytime i shuffle a new song on my player. Im not joking, i can literally hear sounds i wasnt able to hear before using my bass heavy ex50 before. I didnt change any settings on my poweramp app, just changed earphones. But the difference is like heaven and earth. Maybe its placebo, maybe its just me being a noob, but from this point onwards i wont go back to my older iem. Trading bass for rich detail is fine for me now HAHA.XBA-2 - Dual Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer XBA-3 - Triple Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer + Tweeter XBA-4 - Quad Balanced Armature Full Range + Woofer + Tweeter + Super Woofer XBA-1 may suitable for someone who only want to hear full range. I tried using it in the middle of my flight without playing music, kenot hear the engine, vibrations etc. Can only hear the pilot announcing stuff, that also quite muddy. Wasnt the case before with my older iems. Pretty dangerous if you use it while walking on the street IMO. |

just saw the xba line up today. frankly speaking, i'm relieved to see their small sizes, especially the xba-4. very interesting design and pricing. too be honest, i think the price is comparable to most ba phones out there. the xba-1 is similarly priced as pl50 while the xba-2 (rm499) is cheaper than the brainwavz b2 (rm540). so, sony has made the pricing very competitive for the market (considering too, the sony hybrid tips that come with the 'phones). a good move for them.
regarding sony 'phones sound quality, well they have always make products for the masses. still, they do produce good quality headphones from time to time. they are no technics, mind but i used to own a v5 and love my time with it. very costly too at that time. silly money, true, but then again, how many have heard of audio technica back in 2001? senn and shure are pro equipment maker, same goes for beyer while the china made oems, well, let's not talk about them. so we have sony, aiwa, panasonic and a few other choices. all from the mass market manufacturers. exposures (internet especially) made us realised there are tons of options out there, better ones too. but i have to agree with nordingh, without sony (and aiwa), i would not have fell in love with music as much as i am now. heck, those countless walkmans and discmans that i have used and destroyed. all served me well to the end of they life. =) |

Does anybody know any sony stores where I can audition the xba-4?
Checked out Berjaya Times Square, for sale only no testing. Doesn't seem to be in their plan to eventually allow auditioning... just like their EX lineup. Don't feel like dropping RM1200 without testing first..... |

try sony style klcc. usually they have a test unit for each of the 'phones they sell. in fact, all the staffs are required to listen to each 'phones so they can actually know the difference between them (so they can they can sell them according to customer's need). well, that was how i was trained back when i do part time there.

Tried xba-1 to 4 already using iphone, apple lossless quality.
xba-1 : Bright mids and highs but not veiled nor sibilant. Detailed. Very airy, quite good soundstage for a 1 BA phone. Bass is very weak, almost considered missing in action. I think for the price of RM199 this is actually an OK buy. xba-2 : What the.... sounds like a cheap dynamic phone. bassy but totally flat and small/wrong soundstage. 5 seconds into auditioning this I nearly rage throw it. xba-3 : Couldn't get a good fit dunno why, so no impressions. xba-4 : Big soundstage, mids and highs similar to xba-1. Bass is very good but can over power the mids sometimes(not by too much though). The only problem for xba series is I think they need to be amped for true potential. My iphone needs 90% volume for normal listening on these. xba-4 hisses a bit, even the highs have some sort of distortion without amp. |

hmmm. based on cyloh impression, these don't sound that good at all. guess they're meant for the commercial market? still haven't had a chance to personally try them. would like to compare the xb2 to my b2, honestly.
cyloh, where did you go to test them? klcc? i need to go and have them in my ears. soon. ;D |

Tested them in Jaben. They're definitely made for the mass market. But then again it depends on the listener in the end.cyloh, where did you go to test them? klcc? i need to go and have them in my ears. soon. ;D I quite like xba-1 and 4, 1 more than 4 unfortunately. The xba-4 sounds like an upgrade to my Triple Fi 10 but there is too much flaws and headaches. Will go back to Jaben and test properly(was in a rush earlier...). |

QUOTE(ertai @ Mar 12 2012, 02:02 PM) I guess i am not alone, i agree with your points on XBA-1: good isolation, the mid-treble is nice and pleasant but lack bass. I am about 3 weeks into it, but still not ready to accept the trade off (rich detail over bass) i have the XBA-1 paired up with go-vibe mini box. bass definitely up a bit. sony really surprised me this time with this IEM. good build quality, decent sound quality, great isolation. last time i had the EX310 and it was rubbish! I am hoping to trade the XBA-1 to someone who might appreciate it more. Otherwise i am considering to get an amp to push the bass up. That would be a good idea because i love the mid-treble quality compared to EX300. If i can get the bass up, i would LOVE it |

QUOTE(ertai @ Mar 13 2012, 10:17 AM) well, since i cant live without bass, i had to pick EX300 over XBA-1, but if you ask me in the terms of sound quality - no doubt XBA-1 tops it because it sounds way-more liquid smooth, but just the bass, its just me i know dynamic drivers trounce BA drivers in terms of bass anytime. but of course with amps things can change. |

QUOTE(ertai @ Mar 17 2012, 11:23 AM) Call me crazy but I think this is amazing experience for me as an amateur, cuz i think my brains got "burn-in". Now I find my EX300 a tad too bassy and now XBA-1 bass is good pretty good. nope, you're not and you might just be the target market that sony are looking for. something bassy but at the same time wanting a bit more clarity than usual.I actually tried to boost XBA-1's bass through an amp but couldnt accept the trade-off on the treble side. When I go back to EX300 the sound quality drop and it's a big difference to me now. OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE THIS. I need to re-review my thoughts over this weekend. Just a week ago I was convinced EX300 was more fun than XBA-1, but now it's growing on me and I'm loving the XBA-1 more now. This is insane stuff. i did manage to test the xba series yesterday. for me, i had to agree with most of the previous impressions about the series, especially the xba2, which i check slighter closer since i want to compare it with the brainwavz b2. to put it in a few words, veiled and bassy. perhaps sony might have decided to pumped the woofer to bring out the bass to compensate the usually 'thin sounding' signature of balanced armature. i personally found it to be uncontrolled and bloated. while it might suits modern music such as hiphop or electronica, those who want to listen to guitar licks, tight bass and clear vocal might might be sorely disappointed. damien rice's volcano sounded lost and confused with the xba2. with the b2, i love to hear the guitar pluckings, the violin's crackles and all the small details which were lost with the xba2. they are not truly terrible 'phones, these sonys, but just not my taste, i guess. Well, xba-4 is in my to buy list.
It is a sidegrade to my TF10. Larger soundstage, never sibilant and slightly more forward mids compared to TF10. Live and fun. Only problem now is the price and the J-cord puny cabling. |

jus puchased xba-1 from klcc sony centre.
my first impression when i plugged it into my Sony walkman nwz-a726, listening to a vocal music is tat it sounds too bright, i.e. treble set too high. it almost sounded like a radio to me. then i switched to xba-2, to my suprise, it sounded better. better in the sense tat i have tried it in the same store before this using sony own demo walkman. when i switched from xba1 to xba2, it sounded soft/low. but not today. i wonder if its a faulty device at tat point of time. anyway, after standing there testing it out wif various songs available in my walkman ranging from fully vocal song, mix vocal and bass to fully bass songs, i have somehow adapted to its characteristic. no longer the treble sounds too high for me. i can say tat the difference between xba2 and xba1 is definitely on the bass side only. the xba2 can really give tat whomping bass sound. xba1 has the bass but not whomping it out. i tried xba3 and xba4 for awhile only and it didnt give me enuff impression to fork out tat much of money for it. i will try again at home and compare it wif my AKG 242HD headphone together wif a fiio E7 amp. Added on March 19, 2012, 9:26 pmi plugged it to my Fiio E7 and compare it to AKG 242 HD and this time i can definitely feel the treble is a tad too high, in my opinion... it also sounds kinda like radio...not sure how to describe it or what's the word for it...lack of soundstage perhaps? the bass does improved wif a thumping sound after pairing it wif E7. thumping...not whomping...err...meaning i can feel the bass clearly but it is still not as omph as the xba-2 so there goes - my personal review for XBA-1. hope u guys find it useful. p/s: on a side note, i got 10% discount when purchasing it for being a Sony Member. But during my last weekend visit to Pavilion Sony Centre, the staff there claimed there's no discount for it for being a Sony Member. so beware... QUOTE(ertai @ Mar 24 2012, 04:49 PM) thanks for the review after 'brain burn-in' and more comparison wif the AKG...i find the treble not so high anymore...but i do note that if its NOT plug-in into the ear tightly, it'll sound like radio. something some might find it uncomfortable after awhile....unlike a headphone...i never found the treble of XBA-1 to be too high, to me the treble have a certain sweetness-pleasant sound to it which i like so much but i remember when first time auditioning all the models, i found XBA-1 relatively thinner sounding compared 2-4, at the same time i found there was just too much going on in XBA-4, but then those where just short impressions - after experiencing my 'brain burn-in', i know how i can fool myself into anything i found my xba can be more revealing than the ex300 to the source of my songs, if its low quality, then it will sound very cheap, ex300 can cover up better i also think generally BA drivers will have lesser soundstage compared to dynamic ones btw, how did you find using E7 on the XBA-1? esp. on the bass and overall? but yeah...the soundstage is lesser compare to AKG. using E7, i feel the bass improved. I test 4 model XBA-1/2/3/4 at Sony Mid Valley.
I don't why, I not really like all the model. The sound still not up to my expectation. Maybe cos I prefer full size cans than IEM. |

fuuuhhh... i tried the XBA-4 series last sunday in The Gardens Sony Centre..
super balanced... the bass goes so deep but the first thing that you'll notice when u wear them is the super-perfect fit which unbelievable isolation! although, i was hoping for the bass to be a bit more boomier~ I think i might consider it.. despite its RM1000++ price tag~ |

I just called Sony and they told me that there is no warranty for my newly purchase XBA-S65. When I made the purchase in pavilion I was told that it comes with a one year warranty, and need to register the warranty through Sony website. Kinda feel like I got cheated.
As for other models, I'm not too sure. So for you guys who wanted to get these iems, better double check again with Sony. |

Certainly there's a misunderstanding here. As long you buy from local authorised dealer you have 1 year warranty + additional 3 months if you registered online.
About the online registration I had not register my xba-4 yet, so I also had no idea which is the serial no. |

I'm afraid online registration is not available for Sony earphone as I couldn't find the serial.Somemore online registration required you to register within 7days after you purchased.
However as long you have your proof of purchase, the 1 year limited warranty is valid for your xba. |

Sony earphone is consider portable audio under audio section which is 1 year warranty. Unless they consider it as accesory like batteries or charger stated in the website.
This really makes me wonder Sony Malaysia know what are they selling or not... |

QUOTE(r28 @ Apr 6 2012, 01:12 PM) At this rate I think Jaben will honor the warranty and have their own way to settle it. Perhaps for others that bought direct will have a hit or miss experience when it comes to warranty.Does you box or earphone unit have any serial? Else I guess the +3month warranty is smoke and mirrors. ---- IINM, US and Aus both have 90 days warranty for sony earphones. Japan has 1 year. QUOTE(r28 @ Apr 6 2012, 01:30 PM) That's the exact problem I faced while trying to register it online.Like cyloh said, I believe jaben will honor the warranty for your earphone so I think you're safe. I think it's absolute ridiculous if there's no warranty for Sony earphone, as some of their models are quite expensive. And if you do browse through garage sales, you will notice many other brands do provide warranty for their earphones. |

Anyone interested in buying an XBA-3? Won one from a contest but its not the one i want so i'm selling it to fund the one i want
BTW for those that were discussing the warranty earlier, I've talked to the Sony Marketing people while picking up my set Warranty (1 year) is given only for those items above RM300 in price. So XBA's 2-4 will have it but XBA1 wont:( This post has been edited by Erehwon: Apr 23 2012, 03:42 PM |

The XBA series are really good for the money.
The XBA-1s BA driver is quite decent in covering alot of the frequencies, and the XBA-2 is a breath of fresh air in the dual BA world thats now filled with TWFK drivers that are rather dry and bass-shy. The XBA-4s I've used for awhile and sold it. Top end stuff. Very Ultrasone-like sound. Big powerful bass with stoic mids/vocals and sparkly, metallic tinged highs. Good for EDM music, or just about any other genres. Just.. yeah.. very big housing. The XBA-4SL has an annoying J cord which can be annoying. The iP version has the normal Y cords. Also, the XBA series seems to have dropped its price, with Amazon US selling them for 220USD brand new. Which is what? 700ringgit?? MADNESS |

Sony BA user here...just got it yesterday...first impression, worth every penny (sound wise)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Will be using it for daily commuting to work and sleep... Bass department surely wont suit those who are MegaBass fans....but detail wise, my gawd!! It was either MDR-310 or the XBA-1...but in the end went for the XBA... http://www.sony.com.my/product/CompareProd...els=MDR-EX310SL Added on May 2, 2012, 6:32 pm QUOTE(dpo_99_sl @ Apr 4 2012, 06:23 PM) I just called Sony and they told me that there is no warranty for my newly purchase XBA-S65. When I made the purchase in pavilion I was told that it comes with a one year warranty, and need to register the warranty through Sony website. Kinda feel like I got cheated. Yap...my new purchase also no warranty...Sony must have big cojones and confident of their product... As for other models, I'm not too sure. So for you guys who wanted to get these iems, better double check again with Sony. QUOTE(cyloh @ Apr 4 2012, 06:36 PM) If I'm not mistaken there is this pinkish sticker on the box with something holographic. That should be the nope..that is authenticity numbers which can be verified if u sms the number to Sony...serial for registration? Sony earphones should have 1 year warranty and when you sign up online I think they add another 3 months to it? QUOTE(r28 @ Apr 4 2012, 08:08 PM) Certainly there's a misunderstanding here. As long you buy from local authorised dealer you have 1 year warranty + additional 3 months if you registered online. Nope, no misunderstanding....it does not have any warranty whatsoever, no 7-days 1-1 no nothing...only Bluetooh and Noise Cancelling headphone got warranty....I suspect due to electronics reason, but earphone is passive equipment so no warranty...About the online registration I had not register my xba-4 yet, so I also had no idea which is the serial no. btw,xb1 really bang bucks! worth the price and this is the sound signature that i am finding all the way~ =D
i tried xba 1,xba2 n xba3. xba2 just stay at my ear 5 sec only, it sound very weird to me. xba3 more better in overall, got 3 driver which each driver do their work nicely but my personal preference is vocal, xba1 vocal more warm, more magnetic ~! |

i do compare with er6i, er6i vocal become dull, and dry; xb1 sound more musical, warm and magnetic (in another term is the mid very nice)~
bass is there but not strong.as i use to etymotic er4p and er6i bass respond, xba1 bass is just nice, the quantity of bass is better than etymotic series =) as i say,rm199 really worth for the sound signature =) even in i play directly frm my samsung tab 7.7, the sound still very impress me =D for sure, with a proper amp,it will become more better, some how with amp,the bass will be more good~ ohya,i do compare to klipch x10 and triplefi10, i still prefer xba1 xD *the review is based on my own preference song which is more toward vocal, like emi fujitra, 蔡琴, corrine may, olivia ong |

I just tried out XBA-1 to 3 using my phone (as it's the only music playback capable device I have ATM), at my local Sony Centre. They had them on display on a counter and they let people plug in their source with them.
From 1 through 3 I can hear noticeable increases in bass presence. However, I do not get the price gap between XBA-1 and 2. For RM300 more all I seem to get is more bass, and that's it. XBA-1 seems to sound louder at the same volume level at my phone than 2 and 3. XBA-1 sounds smoother, with XBA-2 having a slight bump in the bass. Oh and to add about the XBA-1, I dunno if it's my memory of the sound of PL50 getting hazier, or the noisy environment, the XBA-1 doesn't sound like the PL50 (another single BA). The PL50 is smoother, while the XBA-1 is more analytical. XBA-3, although very expensive, it did sound enjoyable. I was surprised by the bass it produces, quite deep and fast I think. Detail is so much better than XBA-1 but RM600 would better justify its performance. So yeah, good sound but too bad about the price. Isolation is at best, average for all three, but a seal is so easy to achieve. I would be able to better judge their sound at a quieter place, but the condition at the time was good for a real-life scenario test. I wish I had more time, but the Sony salesmen and women were looking at me and I was shy and embarassed. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Jul 21 2012, 04:45 PM |

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Jul 21 2012, 06:06 PM) I can't recall one at that price from my experience. The volume I use when testing them were my ideal volume, which is pretty low. I don't like using the volume of music as a primary way of getting isolation. The environment at the time was pretty noisy too. You can look for it at your local Sony centre and see if they have audition units up on display, so you can have a go yourself.BTW, JonSpark, nice shot of those IEMs. Too bad they didn't have the XBA-4 for me to try out. All three XBAs were very very light and comfortable. They're actually really pretty in real life. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Jul 21 2012, 07:04 PM |

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Jul 22 2012, 10:15 AM) Jaben is selling them for about RM1k. I really won't say Westone has higher quality parts or workmanship (happen to know which company is OEM for Westone). They are high quality, but ain't the much higher than Sony. It's between the price of an XBA-3 and 4. The Westones however have passive (electronic) crossovers (vs mechanical ones for XBAs IINM), different design, high quality parts and workmanship, which explains the price. It is interesting for Sony to go crossover-less though, as that is actually harder to do than passive and requires careful implementation to get it right. Most companies doesn't do mechanical crossover not because it is inferior, but because it will take too much effort. Passive crossover, like any crossover design, has its own issues. But it is easier (and thus cheaper) to implement and thus it becomes the popular choice. For case and example, Sony needs to custom build (or order) those BA so they know they will all work together well. But if you use passive crossover, then it becomes easier as the crossover circuit will help you mediate two / three drivers than are less than compatible to each other because the crossover, in a way, separate them electronically (frequency wise). But one the other hand, passive crossover also introduces more noise, phase issue and more noticeably, a wonky impedance curve that often places higher demand on the source. |

@ClieOS
This is what I got from my listening of the XBA3 and the XBA4. The XBA3 has better bass body and sounds more balanced. The XBA 4 has a super woofer but bass is non existent and sounds very thin but very very transparent. Transparency on the XBA 4 is very good. But the XBA 3 is more balanced and sounds better then the XBA4. If i has to choose between them both i would choose the XBA3 |

XBA4 is very picky on its source. I tried it on Xperia Arc, Ibasso D12 and Fostex HP-A3.
Like you said it sounds thin and no bass when plug into HP-A3. However when plug into D12 you get full body of bass and it does not sound thin anymore. The result of Arc is between those two dacs. |

QUOTE(joshuachew @ Jul 22 2012, 04:49 PM) @ClieOS The measured FR curve between XBA-3 and XBA-4 doesn't show a big different in bass, actually (mostly within 2dB, lesser in XBA-4). On the other hand, XBA-4 is a harder to drive IEM and I wonder if your source plays a part on why you hear what you hear. If your source doesn't drive XBA-4 well enough, I would expect the kind of result as you did. But on the other hand, XBA-3 does have a more 'balanced' FR curve (more V-shaped), so to speak, as it has higher spike on treble. If i has to choose between them both i would choose the XBA3 QUOTE(r28 @ Jul 22 2012, 07:24 PM) XBA4 is very picky on its source. I tried it on Xperia Arc, Ibasso D12 and Fostex HP-A3. As far as I know, HP-A3 uses TPA6120 as its headphone amp and one of the requirement of TPA6120 is an >=10ohm output impedance. That means HP-A3 will drive any headphone less than 80ohm poorly, not to mention the 8ohm XBA-4. D12 on the other hand probably has less than 1 ohm of output impedance (like most iBasso) and thus making it an ideal source for XBA-4.Like you said it sounds thin and no bass when plug into HP-A3. However when plug into D12 you get full body of bass and it does not sound thin anymore. The result of Arc is between those two dacs. |

tried these baby at Harvey Norman~
As far as I concern the treble part is kinda weird~ I like the XBA3 most from the rest, but its treble a bit digital/harsh/not smooth. The XBA2 and XBA1 mid, bass and treble is all over the place :swt: While the XBA4 sounds not as neutral and even it hv a sub woofer driver the bass is not as expected~ |

If i has to choose between them both i would choose the XBA3 I've owned the XBA-4 for about 5 weeks. They sounded alright down low, very full, deep and full of power. Extension is great.. Side by side, the TF10's bass hits harder and faster, but the XBA exhibits a more cultured bass response. I got the J cord one however, and couldn't live with that. The treble of the XBA-4s are the only thing I didn't like. Too metallic tinged. |

It's switching sound signature that's more likely it. I bet that if you listen to a bass-lean dynamic you'll find that it's an easier transition.

You mean the laptop? I don't know any Sony F-series DAP.
Never tried the headphone out of any VAIO either. The only Sony DAP I like is the E-series. The enhancements are pretty much useless except maybe the Clear Bass on some occasions. My guess is, with just about any laptop, you can adjust the sound with a decent player with a decent enough EQ, like Foobar2000. Not gonna be exactly audiophile but it will definitely be bearable. I'm also guessing if the output isn't noisy (like my Vostro 1400), then you'll do fine. Or just plug in a decent affordable DAC. |

QUOTE(ooiwbng @ Sep 15 2012, 05:04 PM) Oooooh. I see. You meant the new Android one. Sorry, I'm not into high-end Sony DAPs much. I like their lower end series for their best value for money. Had a glimpse of a Z series (forgot what model it was). Pretty awesome sounding I would say overall. If it weren't for all the damn features in it that I wouldn't use and would make the price go lower if they were to go away I'd buy them in an instant. If it replaces the Z-series I think it'll be quite good. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Sep 15 2012, 06:58 PM |

QUOTE(ooiwbng @ Sep 15 2012, 07:16 PM) in terms of impedance wise, will it match the xba 4? Yes it's true that BAs are more critical when it comes to source but I don't think it is THAT picky. I tried an XBA-3 with my Nokia X2 and it sounded pleasing (albeit a little cold sounding). The only time I experienced something weird with a BA IEM was pairing a SoundMagic PL50 to a Hippo Box+ amp. It sounded very very messy, like a cheap RM10 dynamic IEM. Not staticy or anything like that, but somewhat...I don't know how to describe it actually...ripply, shaky?the xba 4 is a very very sensitive earphones and it really shows the difference between low quality mp3 and high quality mp3 as well as FLACs. cymbals sound very metallic in this pair. low quality files with cymbals can be very nauseating. Anyway try and get one to audition, and pair it up with the XBA-4. I'm almost sure that when you are close to purchasing one they will let it out of the box for you to try it out. At least it's almost always like that when I "buy" (read "try) their IEM/headphones. |

In fact, the UE 350vm sounds better with lower quality files. However, that's my jogging pair so what gives.
Thoroughly going through every single review I can find on the nz-f800. It's time to get a dedicated sound player. Anyway, I own the nwz-706f, it's light years away from the iPhone 4S. Both amped with the fiio e6. I must say the xba 4 is one of my most worthy investments. |

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Why would Sony make a flagship DAP that would not be able to drive their own flagship BA IEM?

You definitely got that right. The only question I'm facing now is whether to buy it or buy a tablet. Leaning more towards the player xD.
Thanks by the way |

Any news on the latest XBA series?
I see it's already been at the Sony website for quite sometimes but unable to find any review on it. Want to know what improvement on it and possible Jaben carry this? |

The xba-2 isn't really a good buy .. its decent but no wow factor .. The voices , instrument is clear and comparative to the urbeats .. I have tried all the earphones size and the one's with sponge sucks max .. why the hell they make those I am using it on my old sony nwz-a726 .. the wow factor on the ori mdr ex was too good .. I should have look for the old mdr stock to buy .. maybe because it was build and tuned with this walkman series .. |

I think it's agreed that the so-called isolation tips are a pain to use. They feel stiff to me, and to achieve a good seal is like an unnecessary task. The hybrid tips are good enough most times, providing excellent isolation.
On another topic, from another thread I have sent my pair of XBA-1's for warranty. Do note that the whole XBA range is covered under Sony's warranty terms, and other earphones only covering for rm350 and above. |

Tried a few BA before, bought the XBA-1 and gifted to a female friend of mine who loves music. She loves it and enjoy her music very much. As for me the sound and build is decent for the price. Clarity is great but sound is a bit thin for me.

I got shocked for a moment when I thought there's a new series of XBA out. Haha, I'm going to invest in the xba 40/N, currently using the xba-1. Not really happy with it and plans to sell it =)
