any software to convert audio cd track or aiff file to mp3?
*
drag your AIFF file to garageband, and choose share to iTunes, it will automatically convert it to mp3

Actually you can still do it at iTunes..add the AIFF files into the iTunes, right click file in the playlist and select convert to mp3.

One page before this
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/202116/+600

So far I haven't found any free ones yet. Been searching for quite a while
Finally settled down with TuneUp. It's one great piece of software. Out of 3k plus MP3 I have, it can't find about 100 plus songs and that is a mix English, Malay, Chinese and Japanese songs that I have.
Couple it with Soundhound if you have an iPhone and it will work wonders if you really like to listen to music and having a nice library to go along with it. Few years ago I don't mind having rubbish MP3 gallery but ever since with iPhone, it's nice to have ID3 tag along with it where your can sort out by genres, have album cover to go along with it and you can do a proper search for it as well.
Only complaint I guess would be it can't detect for duplicates if you have any

Hey, you bought TuneUpMedia yet? If not yet put it on hold first.
Just bought my second mbp and I plan to install it with TidySong just to compare since it have the duplication detection as well. Reason being I copied my library from another mbp to this new one and it went nearly doubled. Being lazy bum and not much time to redo I might just give TidySong a try. Will feedback it later on. Plus to have one license for TidySong and another for TuneUp makes it much more worth it rather than have 2 lappy with TuneUp. Once both are in sync I can have another software running that will makes both lappy always in sync using this http://www.supersync.com/
It's free up to 25 music and you just need to relaunch it again. Knowing I won't have much music difference in terms of 2 lappy most probably just stick it on the free version

any future software you cant find. Go to macupdate.com

search for flac, play flac, etc. you're bound to hit something. there's no such thing as "nothing can play it". unless the file format is proprietary. if you really cant find, there are always free converter software.

@almertfrenzy: A few are listed on the first post under CD/DVD authoring software. Nero = Toaster (Roxio) I guess is the closest.

I'm not sure what is good myself. I think I've spent just a whole day trying out apps. Still trying to get my head around using Mac OS.
(reminds me of being a Windows noob and just downloading all the shareware/freeware to figure out what is good lol)

If anyone can help me with this one. On Windows I use Internet Download Manager (IDM) which has a very useful grabber tool to grab
videos off webpages with a handy "Download" button that pops up at the top right of nearly any videos detected....e.g Youtube/Vimeo/etc.
Is there any program on Mac OS with this feature? I've tried Speed Download and a few others but I can't seem to get a similar function.

Ideally, I'm looking for a download manager+accelerator with that grabber function.

Cheers.
