hey, please help me out..

i refer to macforums and all but i still cant solve my prob. using mac os 10.4.11..

others avi files is ok with sound and all but when it comes to movies, it just wont work. =.=
*
try to download VLC. it's an app to watch video n supports a lot of codecs that quicktime doesnt. also u can download Perian, it enables quicktime to play lots of files otherwise not supported

QUOTE(ecVk @ Feb 18 2010, 08:07 PM)
Guys, after ive downloaded Windows Media Player and i try clicking on it some weird text code come out. How to solve this problem? sad.gif
*
Windows Media Player is, as the name suggest, a Windows program. a file ending with .exe is Windows only, OSX uses .app. ALL windows programs cant be installed on OSX, surprise! tongue.gif u need to look for mac version or alternatives. in other words, you wont be able to install windows media player (none of us want that either), use quicktime or download VLC.

QUOTE(uncontrolled @ Feb 20 2010, 03:13 PM)
Hey guys, how can i burn a mp3 file to an audio CD(radio supported)?! My radio cant support mp3 audio CD.
*
in itunes, make a new playlist n add ur songs in that playlist. insert a blank CD-R, n in itunes, select the playlist u created n there should be a "Burn Disc" button below

QUOTE(~funeralofheart~ @ Feb 27 2010, 05:28 PM)

u can also try http://www.screenjelly.com/

it's a web app to record u screen. only 3 minute limit, not much options n the framerate is pretty bad

but then u dun have to dl anything, it's just a web app. for a simple screencast, it gets the job done smile.gif

QUOTE(stryfox @ Apr 24 2010, 05:01 PM)
i am currently running on imac 20" (2.66Ghz intel core 2 duo with 4Gb ram) which normally left running 24x7 (once a week i restart) due to using uTorrent.

but because i also use parallel (version 5) to run window vista ultimate 32bit in coherence mode (which i set running at 2 processors and 2.5Gb ram) (mainly to use windows player as some video i cant use using quicktime player and planning to use to play starcraft 2 later), now always hang or very slow performance. if i upgrade to 6Gb ram (by replacing current 2gb with 4gb ram), would the performance be better? but 4Gb ram 1067mhz ddr3 already around RM500++....ideally i want to upgrade to 8Gb but too costly

any help? suggestion?
*
i think RAM shud be ur last choice. im running 2.4ghz C2D with 4gb ram, using VM (winxp) is smooth for word + excel + autocad. i dun think parallel is suitable for you.

- there's a utorrent client for mac. it works great. http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/mac
- for videos, try download these 3 on ur mac: VLC, Perian, Flip4Mac. shud take care of most video codes/format out there
- starcraft2 in parallel would lag. use bootcamp instead smile.gif

there, u dun need parallels anymore hehehe. if u stil need windows, dun use vista. ultimate version makes it worse tongue.gif for best performance juz use windows xp biggrin.gif windows 7 is slightly slower

tarvalslain87 /viper-xs / dvlzplayground,

thanks for the advise.

yup, Parallel & Vista Ultimate 32bit not good combination running together.

However, too troublesome to restart in bootcamp everytime. too bad i already bought Parallel at RM299 and also Vista Ultimate is original copy (32bit & 64bit). Thought of testing n see how it perform. Now regretting as running Vista on Parallel affects performance very bad and cause hang in Mac as well. so, may have to get 4Gb RAM and see how lor sad.gif
*
u can juz do what i recommend earlier, the softwares are free. atleast u dun need to run vista all the time. juz run when u have very specific needs that OSX cannot do

anyone know the best DVD burner like NERO for MAC...

need it to burn my muvi....

thanksss...
*
if u want the closest to nero then go for Toast. other than that u can try Disco...the UI is quite cool hehe

QUOTE(Maverick Wil @ Aug 6 2010, 04:47 PM)
@almertfrenzy: A few are listed on the first post under CD/DVD authoring software. Nero = Toaster (Roxio) I guess is the closest.

I'm not sure what is good myself. I think I've spent just a whole day trying out apps. Still trying to get my head around using Mac OS.
(reminds me of being a Windows noob and just downloading all the shareware/freeware to figure out what is good lol)

If anyone can help me with this one. On Windows I use Internet Download Manager (IDM) which has a very useful grabber tool to grab
videos off webpages with a handy "Download" button that pops up at the top right of nearly any videos detected....e.g Youtube/Vimeo/etc.
Is there any program on Mac OS with this feature? I've tried Speed Download and a few others but I can't seem to get a similar function.

Ideally, I'm looking for a download manager+accelerator with that grabber function.

Cheers.
*
i get what u mean. i was looking for something similar before. i cant get speed download to 'fetch' the links. if u use firefox, try using the extension DownThemAll, very nice smile.gif
