my sis using alza too..sxi advance version. the problem:

- rattle sound at 2nd row seat (still searching what is rattling there)
- foggy headlamp!!! (this is crap man)
- driver door sensor got problem..
- when change to reverse, its sound like i did not properly step on the clutch pedal, but i already did. same with 1st gear.

my others issue:

- perhaps P2 should think first that tall people oso will drive alza. not all people in m'sia pendek2 one. really annoying when my knee will knock below dashboard each time i press the clutch pedal..

SXi .. so it is manual transmission right?

as far as i have read, Toyota Passo Sette no manual transmission at Japan .

and as we know Alza is Malaysia version of Passo Sette, so P2 fit the Myvi manual gear box into it ... so it may not that "fit" ..

Just wanna compare am I accelerating too much on my Alza or not

I always reset trip A to 0 after pump full tank.

Then the next refill I'll pump full tank again and divide the $ with how many KM in trip A.

exp. 25th Sep 2011, Reset trip A = 0, Petrol Full Tank.

then 30th Sep 2011, Trip A = 350KM (reset it after refill), Refill petrol RM60.

the calculation will be RM60/350KM = RM0.17+/KM

this 2 months my city drive around RM0.17~RM0.19+ / KM

1. Once we receive the car from the salesman, what important things we should look into/check through??
2. Any minor MOD needed..?? From some reviews, the car is too long and when turning/cornering, it needs heavier load to be more stable. Check through and saw ULTRA RACING. Too many bars and costly. What is the basic bars we need for ALza?
Any advise on this?
3. Not sure about sounds though, too many noices/sounds... just turn the music louder abit... Hhaha.. thats what my fren told me... Do advise too...

For a comparison, I pumped RM 30 last week in anticipation of car masuk kilang, but tak jadi, so refueled again upon finishing the tank few days back. I was able to clock 225km on 90% city drive. 300km on RM 50 seems a bit high on FC isn't it....? FYI I usually refuel when I'm left with one bar or left around 100km range or less.




Another question, anyone here already changed to a more soft and comfy suspension...? Any recommendation on that...? I kinda miss my old Camry's soft suspension feel, Alza is a bit too stiff and harsh, MyVi even worse...

1. DO NOT receive first... tell your salesman to allow you to see the car before registering it. When receiving the car, check for everything on the checklist given to you, make sure everything works fine. Off the list, check for surface scratches, and rear trunk wiper - make sure they fitted the short one for Alza, not the long one for MyVi, else it'll end up scratching the rear spoiler when activated.

2. I did not install ultra whatever shitty bar, I'm not a racer. I prefer to be called an uncle driving a big ass comfy car.

3. I spent few grands just to get rid of various noises. It's up to you if you wanna spend that kinda money on sound-proofing it. Also, spend a grand to get rid of those noisy tyres. Cranking up the music volume will only makes things worse because it comes with crappy speakers. For some odd reasons the external and rattling noises coupled with the treble-muffled speakers made the driving experience like driving a 5-year old car. Freaking sad case...

4. Complimentary advise from me - if you still can cancel your booking, just do it and spend more to get a better car. Else you'll be stuck with a worse car money can buy for the next 5 years, and buying cars are not investments. Make sure you make the right decision. I regretted mine...

Did a refill yesterday night. Here are my readings, slightly better this time.
RM66 / 405km = RM0.16/km

Mostly city drive, say 80%. This time, I let everyone over take me. Mostly 60-70kmh, sometimes top at 80km on the way from Sg Buloh to Kuala Selangor. If you find the traffic moving very slowly, hey... it probably was me in front. Hahahaha.... but that was last week. This week, back to normal driving and let's see how it goes.

I can imagine your throttle response is pretty powerful. I can do 420+km with 66 bucks, but that's with my car always feeling underpowered. Also around 80% city driving, going up to 80-90 kph whenever I get the chance.

Pushing 120-130 kph on highway is hard, feels like the engine wanna explode, I wonder how some ppl can manage 160kph on an Alza...

Push with 3rd gear, then down steep slope shift to 4th gear, push suicidal mode ON = 160kph!! Do it with a manual transmission for more fun.

To get 405km, I'm driving really slow. Oh, mine is auto by the way. Not enjoyable at all. RM66 / RM1.90 means I pumped 34.7 liter. So still have less than 10 liter inside. Therefore, probably best guess is with full tank I can do around 460-490km, before I get kosong inside.

Because the tangki is 42 liter, which is RM79.80 full. But to do this, I have taken the fun out of driving. Perhaps this is my long distance drive target. To achieve as close as possible to 500km with full tank... maybe drive from KL to Johor early in the morning, something like that.

So city drive, perhaps a reasonable target is 380-400km, by putting in some fun back into driving. I don't want to follow behind uncle auntie's car.

Here's an updated list of problems plaguing my car:

1 Wind sound in excess of 70kph = Problem recurs

2 Loose number plate on the rear trunk door. Rattles when close = Problem recurs

10 Cabin light not always turned on when car doors are opened = Resolved

11 Rattling sound of loose part near driver seatbelts on B-pillar = Problem recurs. Fixed outside

30 Loose black cover on trunk door causing rattling sound = Solved via DIY

Exora is coming with Turbo Boost soon and probably in 2013, electric hybrid version.

until today, did not hear any facelift nor next version of alza also..sigh, quite disappointed

2013 is still a long way, I bet Perodua have something for Alza up their sleeves, but don't expect major changes under the hood... Perodua's definition of facelift has always been superficial... Remember that Perodua has always been a car assembler, they're not exactly into R&D...

anyhow, exora turbo boost coming end of the year alridi..i believe that will give a big competition compare to the current alza, especially if alza doesnt improve all these existing problems

I really dont think it worth a cent to buy a car and been plaque by all this problems. Be it a 60k car. I dont wanna spend time at sc to report complaints day in and day out. ALZA - off my list (no hope for malaysia car for me..)

This caused by tooling, their original cast for dashboard not good, all using plastics, snapped in, not screwed.
You will noticed major different, especially day and night. Day more noise cause hot, night less noise cause cold.

= Yup, I also got

14 Bluetooth not working
= I didn't use before, not useful for me temp.

Mine was auto premium, year 2010, mileage 30,102km, average fc = RM 0.15 / km (Esso/Petrons, light foot, tighten throttle cable already). I'm kind of understand your issues and dissatisfaction, our local parts not so reliable if compare to japanese or korean. If I'm not mistaken, this whole car was truly made in malaysia, sometime no luck really will get problematic one.
