Another update from me:

1 Wind noise > 80km/h
= Acceptable, never expect Perodua NVH better than others

2 Loose number plate on the rear trunk door. Rattles when close
= It was stick to the car, screwed it will be better

3 Engine noisy inside cabin > 110km/h
= Acceptable, better than proton wira

4 Steering veers to the left, slightly off axis at straight road
= Alignment can be done outside to fix it. Use conventional ruler rather than computerised alignment.

5 Roof noisy when rain
= For those car before 2011, you need to report it to P2, it will be better after sound proof material

6 Soft horn sound
= I got no issue, but you can change it to hella horn

7 Power window on driver side not smooth when in operation, jerky motion
= NIL

8a) Gear shift, 3rd to 4th, not smooth
= NIL

8b) Reverse gear sometimes produces sudden strong vibration on car
= NIL

9 Low whining/whistling sound when engine is idle
= Engine characteristics, noise minimal, accepetable

10 Cabin light not always turned on when car doors are opened
= Door ajar sensor, front left and right, their parts got defect

11 Rattling sound of loose part near driver seatbelts on B-pillar
= Yup, I also got

12 Rattling sound on dashboard
= Yup, I also got, don't ask them dismantle it and assemble it back, no point cause will be the same or worst.
This caused by tooling, their original cast for dashboard not good, all using plastics, snapped in, not screwed.
You will noticed major different, especially day and night. Day more noise cause hot, night less noise cause cold.

13 Rattling sound from rear seatbelts when going over uneven roads
= Yup, I also got

14 Bluetooth not working
= I didn't use before, not useful for me temp.

15 Long distance/high speed braking not smooth, car jerky. No hard braking
= Mine ok, got engine braking

16 Dirty front rims
= Is brake pads dust, cause by original P2 LUCAS brake pads. You can change others if you don't like

17 Noisy tyres
= Acceptable, cannot compare with good one

18 Leaking water from engine compartment and exhaust, when air-cond turned on
= I didn't notice but Where is it?

19 Air-cond takes time to cool cabin, not cold enough
= Acceptable, my fan blower strong and I got full car tinted

20 Soft knocking/tapping sound on engine when accelerating between 1 - 1.5k rpm after driving for some distance. Noise is also present when car is stationary and engine revved at the same rpm range
= Not sure about this

21 Air-cond knob can get stuck between "1" and "2"
= My switch working fine

22 Rubber frame on left side front door does not fit perfectly
= Mine ok

23 External door handles too stiff
= Mine ok

24 Scratches on surface of car on every sides
= Cause by those f!@# who scratch my car

25 Rattling sound from third row seat, loose board on back of seat
= A bit, sometime got sometime don't have

26 Stationary and speed brake pedal vibrates when front wiper is running
= NIL

27 Steering rack vibrates and noise on uneven roads, especially when turning
= Didn't notice, need to test

28 Front suspension noise when going over speed breakers
= Previously got, now ok

29 Loose black cover on trunk door causing rattling sound
= Yeah, a bit, can fix DIY

31 Jerky motion during acceleration, possibly another round of gear problem
= NIL

Mine was auto premium, year 2010, mileage 30,102km, average fc = RM 0.15 / km (Esso/Petrons, light foot, tighten throttle cable already). I'm kind of understand your issues and dissatisfaction, our local parts not so reliable if compare to japanese or korean. If I'm not mistaken, this whole car was truly made in malaysia, sometime no luck really will get problematic one.

You better ask service centre to adjust the throttle cable for you rather you do it yourself.

For me, I never expected sound proof will be good for this 5-doors compact MPV. As you mentioned about the built quality, it was not as good as toyota or even daihatsu but still yet better than proton except chassis toughness.

My car was auto EZi, stock & non-modify, spark plug, air filter and 10W/30 API SM used standard as spec written. I managed to clocked at RM 0.15 / km or 12.6km / L (Light and moderate foot) , jam 3 hours a day to pj and back home daily.

1. Sound proof, Perodua Alza 2011 already w/roof sound proof, those before 2011 that can report to P2 and have them to install it FOC. Don't give high expectation on 5 doors local made compact MPV. Due to cost constraint, all had been removed to minimal if compare to Toyota Passo Sette.
SO, PLEASE DON'T EXPECT CABIN NOISE WILL BE QUIET AS 4-DOORS SEDAN!

2. Power to weight ratio, not as good as 1NZ-FE engine but enough to move it freely. For me, I felt it was ok if compare to heavier proton exora. 3SZ-VE was good in low to mid torque, sufficient for town use. 1NZ-FE was full aluminium engine where else 3SZ-VE was cast iron engine. Both different in material and of course the cost to built it. Therefore performance and FC will be slightly different.

3. Chassis toughness, only met Daihatsu Total Advanced Function compliant, proton was better than perodua!

http://www.daihatsu-aichi.co.jp/en/daihatsu-cars/

4. Seldom got weird problem. 3SZ-VE well known to be used in Toyota and Daihatsu. I can said much more steady and reliable than campro series engine. Gearbox, it happened to some unlucky owner, just claim P2 and shoot email to via perodua website. I sent 3 email, they call me 3 times and I question them why P2 charge me for sound proof to be install for 4 doors as it was min. requirement for manufacturer to install it before the car delivered. P2 speechless and start talking alien words.

Money was major issues. Perodua Alza was economically compact mpv in terms of price and costs of ownership w/minimal running cost.

We need money pay other stuff such as house, children, parents and daily expenses; really not all people can use their wages to enjoy the fun of cars and yet cars was 100% depreciate asset than houses.

You afford, you buy can choose expensive and better one. Not afford, get the one can serve your daily purpose. No choice.

1 point you failed to raise... I think Perodua with the Alza model, they're beginning to neglect safety issue...
*
Agreed with you, local excised tax and cost of built material was an issues. Everything seem to be alright will increase the cost, you can found this from new perodua myvi se/extreme 1.5, that's why selling at the price can get perodua alza... because material used was better than alza.

But Perodua never well-known for safety and chassis toughness, Proton performed very good job in chassis and handling over perodua but reliability and fuel comsuption you can't denied perodua is better.

You choose which one? Your decision indeed! Depends to what your own judgement and point of view.

I choose over perodua alza over proton exora

PRICE (Compact MPV and cheaper than Exora leh)
RELIABILITY w/minimal defect (Excluded chassis toughness and sound proof)
MORE ON TOWN USAGE (I never treat it like Toyota Wish cause it definitely cannot race)
HANDLING (Please look for sedan, MPV never met handling expectation)
FUEL CONSUMPTION (Consider better than others mid sized MPV such as Exora, Citra, Innova and Avanza)

Campro engine not steady. IAFM seem like wear and tear stuff and need to be replace after certain mileage. Campro CPS required VIM to run with and somemore campro tend to be not good to use in town due to the engine characteristic

Currently, Proton is planning to develop a new engine known as the code name "Family Y engine" with option of displacement between 1.2l, 1.5l, and 1.8l all in the variant of either natural aspirated or in force induction type.

The existing Campro engines which are limited to 1.3L and 1.6L engine options only will be EOL (End of Life) soon...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campro

Proton really treat the owner like white mouse and experiment. They invent so call new model and market them for testing and tend to phase out the model simply.

Proton Tiara, Proton Juara, Proton Savvy, Proton Waja 1.8 was the very truth example.

Obvious different between 1NZ-FE and 3SZ-VE

- Lightweight, thermoplastic intake manifold
- Air filter
- Cylinder head
- Plastics and Hoses
- Engine components arrangement

You can ask people who know about car, ask them which picture of engine was nice to see.

After 4 Perodua cars, I've always thought of that, but ever since the Alza, I would really doubt that statement...

OK, can I know what is your decision? Sell or complaint until they fix according to your expectation.

QUOTE(babylck @ Oct 14 2011, 11:35 AM)
Guys, from the manual book it says that during running in period only can drive below 90 km/h did you guys follow? My alza just clock 100+ km only. Is it only can drive normally after the first 1000km service?
*
Yes, before 1st service, less than 1000km, I drove less than 90km/h. After 1st service, I'd a trip to penang, speed 110km/h to 140km/h.

My clocked 30,xxx km right now. Already went 5 time service already. Next visit will claim my roof sound proof and front mounting (due to battery water) because Perodua HQ approved within a week once I complaint to them.

I sent complaint feedback for my issues, they did call me few time and find out more. I told them about it, what I cannot claim was the sound proof for 4 doors as all alza until present was not fitted.

Minor problem encountered: Perodua Alza 1.5EZi Premium 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Front, driver, door ajar sensor (Claimed and replaced)
2. Mounting rust by battery water (Claimed, waiting to fix it)
3. Roof sound proof (Claimed, waiting to fix it)
4. Front, driver seat (Dismantled and fixed)

Give and take, DIY
----------------------
1. Minor rattling that I accepted
2. Some wind noise that i accepted

Future will do
---------------
1. 4 doors myvi chrome handles
2. 4 doors sound proof
3. 4 tyres to 195/60/R15

Honestly the car served me well.

RM 0.15 per km / 7.9 L per 100km (70% city, 30% highway)
RM 0.12 per km / 6.3L per 100km (80% highway, 20% city)
Petrol = Esso-Mobil, petronas, caltex
120km/h @ 3,000rpm, max. speed tested 150km/h
Throttle cable adjusted to max.
Never worry car can't start unless no petrol / battery

If you looking for economical compact MPV which occasionally 5 + 2 people onboard, I can said Perodua Alza deserved for it. You looking for quiet cabin, luxury and european safety standard, this obviously was not your choice.

Perodua Alza, All Models, Defect discovered:
Perodua supplied lead-acid type battery to all Perodua Alza since the 1st day. But all owners or potential owners, please beware. The lead-acid battery, no matter how good it is, acid from battery will leak through the battery's case and drop to your chassis and gearbox right down from battery.

Potentially will cause the following:
- Rust on chassis & engine mounting
- Gearbox damage because acid leak into. This explained why some gearbox got problem or slipped disc issues

Solution:
- Change to maintainance free battery (NS40ZL) at your own cost. I'd complaint to Perodua several time but useless. They never admit it was a defect.

Believe or not, your choice. Open your front hood and see yourself, the gearbox was just right bottom of the battery tray. That place already started to ate by acid if you didn't take care it. Battery lead-acid can break through the seal and penetrate into gearbox if you didn't take care by now.
