OK guys, you may start posting now biggrin.gif

I've got some ideas to improve our front page so that it'll be more informative, and we can visit the first page from time to time. But probably because of these ideas, it causes the first page to be a bit messy laugh.gif But whatever, if you guys have some ideas to share, or you guys have something untuk disumbangkan, please be free to share, or you can PM me. Especially in Club Legend section. It really can tell us and other forumers about what exactly is FC Barcelona. I don't know why but not many people know our Legends. Guardiola is now famous because he is our first team coach. But not many know Kubala, Amor, Luis Suarez etc. etc. So I think our first page should have some notes about our legends.

Oh, and one more thing, should we have our LYN Fan List? huh.gif

0-6..damm. im not surprise with the scoreline, this is wat madrid offensive capable of, ronaldo scored a hatrick. this season sure will be very challenging for us to win the la liga title..

one more thing it is hard for our player especially messi to win the golden boot this year by lookin at ronaldo scoring line so far.. but i hope the golden boot will be in favor of our player.. wateva it is, la liga n champions league are the main priority to win. hope we r muc stronger n better than last season.

Don't forget to add me in the list as well.
Damn 0-6, left 1 more game for the table to be completed for match day 1.
Sure RMA top spot for the first match day, we could move to top spot if we win 7-0, exactly sharp 7-0.

Looks like JDs is getting the nod over Bartra at RB.
I prefer Bartra there.

What time do Muslims usually start going to the mosque on Raya day?
I go every year but somehow forgets.
The match is at 5 here in Queensland, Aus and it's supposed to end at 7am.
Hopefully praying only starts after that...

Thanks but apparently in this part of OZ, they started fasting a day later thus celebrate Eid a day later which
also means that Im fasting a day extra.. sad.gif

Messi and Fab really have a great connection don't they?

I really thought we were gonna lose the match when I saw our line-up.
3 defenders??? 2 of which were midfielders...
Thiago and Keita in midfield who are both not the ones you wanna play to protect the back 4 as they lose the ball more often than Xavi-Iniesta.
What on earth was Pep thinking?

Now I really believe we have time for every player.
You know how nice it was to see Xavi, Villa coming off the bench?
Compare that to the previous seasons when we had Bojan or Jeffren to come on in the match.
It never excited me haha

i totally agreed with ur statement.. i used to think who will start in the first 11, where to put febragas, what bout xavi n so on.. now i understand with our current squad, we r muc more flexible n our player wont be too exhausted for havin to play every game from start to finished. thumbup.gif

As I said, Pep is fond to rotate players around, even if meant to reposition several players. Yeah for us its a bit odd, because we are so accustomed for players to have their position to be fixed throughout a season, or even in their career. But not with Pep. Messi as false 9, Eto'o and Henry played out wide on the flank, Iniesta on the left wing, Yaya as CB, Abidal as CB, Masch as CB, Keita as pivot, Busquets as CB. Even Cesc was played as false 9 ala Messi against Napoli. Plenty of evidence showing Pep's ideas on effective rotation.

Not to say that I was not nervous when I saw Busquets-Masch-Abi defensive line for the first time laugh.gif I fully expected that either Montoya or Fontas would step in. But his final decision has surprised me as well.

But Pep has proven that he is right, AGAIN. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

i think it is depending on the situation. i believe pep will improvise accordingly to the situation when we face the opponent. for me this formation is kinda an emergency formation where we hv lack of defender due to injury.

Actually I do think that Pep is looking to apply 3-4-3 as permanent formation in the future. No reason in particular, just my feeling. But for now 4-3-3 is our optimum formation, mainly because we still have Alves bombing down the right wing.

Puyol is expected to play in the next match. That's a good news.

Oh, and since no one mentioned it in previous thread, Barca now has NINE (9) representatives in Spanish NT squad. Even Montoya received the call up. LOL even Pep was surprised.

Argentina won 1-0. Header by otamendi after corner kick by messi. Hehe. About 3-4-3, I'm also surprised. I'm expect montoya or fontas, somehow both our 2 DM revert back as CB.hurm..strange..I felt this was a pep's plan all along.. He only use 1 specialist CB, and other two our midfield. Pep want to develop entire game as midfiled in future? I suspect. So when pep said he opted 3-4-3 as emergency formation, I dun believe 100 percent coz in future, after puyol's retirement, we might use only one true CB, wih 2 DM, and four midfield to ensure the ball always linger around middle of the pitch. Pep, u r mysterious..

Well we won against Villareal didn't we? If we wanna talk about risk, is our 4-3-3 system risk-free tactic? What about other tactic? English long ball tactic? Catenacio? No tactic is risk free, or can guarantee victory. What a coach can do is to devise tactics that may minimize the risk. I think our now famous pressing game is Pep's solution for minimizing it. Of course the risk is still present, but again no tactic is 100% perfect.

Spain won 3-2. Iniesta+fabx2. uzary..atm..that's what I'm felt. Pep might have an intention to develop a whole team of midfielder with or without 'true' CB. Or pep might use onli 1 true CB to cover up GK and let other 9 player with midfielder ability or attacking minded to control the game/pitch. I tried to figure out the reason why pep such reluctant to buy another experienced CB, instead always opted masch and busquet to play on CB whenever puyol or pique or both injured. As traditional formation, back four or three are very important regardless the formation 442 or 433 or 4231 and whatsoever. And at the installation of fab and rising thiago. And at the same time also, sold oriol romeu with buy back clause, and secure rising sergi roberto with clause 20M. At first I tought fab will be the replacement for xavi, but it seems not. Slowly and gradually, pep mix and let them play togather. I'm not surprise in next 3-4 years, such attacking minded fullback will slowly fade to let their posisiton fill up by these midfielders. In other word, pep want to transform pitch as one big training center with the ball pass around wide. We might see thiago at defense and and fab at opponents goal post. Ok, we have fontas and montoya. Yet again, I'm not surprise if pep installed them with attacking minded to marauding forward and let only one or no one to cover our GK. As la masia student, fontas, montoya and others understand the game..and pep will teach them more. Its like gradute with SPM in la masia, and now further study under pep to have a diploma. Its just my theory. I dunno..just to justifiy with myself the reason why pep not eager to find at least another 1 experienced CB. That's why I'm just keep quiet..because while he analyze game, we also analyze him. Hurm..the 'we are defender who attack, we are attacker who defend' mantra, from day to day..it makes sense. Perhaps it is the real Total Football that pep craving utmost. At least for me la. Hehe. Anyway, it just my opinion.

A sad sad sad day for Cules worldwide especially who are on twitter. Barcastuff is closing doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

For those here who doesn't know who he is, well, he (some speculated it's actually 'they') is the founder of the famous fcbtransfer blog. For me it is still the best Barca blog out there. And although the blog is now dormant, it is still the best source of documented stories during treble season.

Yesterday I checked out his twitter as usual, only to find out he has already cut off his news feed, only to mention countdown to matches. Why all good things have to end? cry.gif cry.gif

There are plenty of alternatives. But to find the good ones is another story. Definitely nobody has come close to Pep the blogger in grinding out stories, interviews, stats about Barca. Even TB as the supposedly a continuance project of fcbtransfer has not actually up to the par IMHO, although they have more people behind the scene. They lack the interviews. Maybe its only because Spanish media have done lesser interviews with Barca players nowadays, but still how did Pep get all those interviews for his twitter feeds? Surely it came from Spanish media too. hmm.gif

Speaking of youths, we have a new youth sensation making his debut with B team. He's Grimaldo, a 15 y.o LB. Performed well in the last game, and provided a beautiful assist for Rafinha's goal.

keita is not a DM ffs

and busi - fontas combination wont work for CB. theres Abidal & Masch available for that position.

i hope pep wont play em out of position again. Villa is the one to blame for that 2nd goal.

The whole team played badly. We had the opportunities to kill Sociedad off, but we didn't, and we had to pay for that. But one thing worth noting, Fontas was really shite. Hope Pep gives him some good lecture on what good workrate is.

He's been playing there the whole last season. I didn't hear much complain back then. The whole team performed underpar, not him alone, and Villa's mistake has nothing to do with him being a LW.

Pep has never underestimated his opponents. At least that's the impression he always gave during media conference. But its inevitable that at some point during the season, Pep has to do some experiments. It turned out well against Villareal, but stumbled against Sociedad. This could happen. For me, it's the players' fault for letting the opponents a way back into the game.

Why? Because he didn't hear Fontas yelling at him because of the ball?

Then what about this?

Please be firm, and don't get easily swayed by general perception. They are not always right. Valdes = Casillas, or any other top GKs.

"Maradona is the best player in the history of football, no doubt about that. I never even saw Pele play, but I don't have to see him to know that Diego was the best."

Judging on current form, I think Cesc really deserves a shot to play alongside Xaviesta in 3-4-3. Although the system may be relatively new, I think we should focus on dominating midfield to isolate Milan's forwards.

The only worry right now is Villa's and Pedro's form. Not that its a big deal, but its still a fact that both of 'em are a bit shy of goals right now.

Will the new Nou Camp stand on an island off the Barcelona coast, in the middle of the Mediterranean? Blaugrana fans say a resounding 'yes!'

A FC Barcelona member has unveiled the Barça fans' dream for a new Nou Camp-- and it is unlike anything anyone has ever seen. Catalan architect Emili Vidal's project creates a Stadium at Sea; some hundred metres off the Barcelona coast, and connected to the city with a bridge leading to the Fòrum at Diagonal Mar, the new FC Barcelona stadium would stand on an artificial island and have a capacity of 150.000 spectators, as many as

This project is the answer to the current seating problems at Nou Camp, where most matches sell out in days, leaving fans without a chance to attend. The interior design of the new Barca stadium would be curvy and wave-shaped, and two separate levels would be built, a 90.000-seater and a 60.000-seater. The stadium roof would evoke a fisherman's net.

Designer Norman Foster had been reached to ask for a project for a re-estructuring of Nou Camp, but the designer of the new Wembley stadium found no way to significantly increase the stadium capacity beyond 10000 more spectators. The current FC Barcelona stadium can only hold 100.000 of its 150.000 members.

Making Vidal's dream come true would cost as much as 1000 milion euro, but many fans have lent him his support and will campaign for the new Nou Camp - Stadium at Sea. To watch a Barca game there would certainly be something else!

Only a draw, but I still think we were the better side. We literally pinned them in their own penalty box for the whole game. I highly doubt Cassano even had touched the ball. Oh well sad.gif sad.gif

shows that we really miss pique..Puyol obviously not match fit.. keita is not providing enough cover at DM.. Abidal had to come in countless times.. I think dani-masch-abidal-maxwell/adriano would be better.. while sergio plays where he plays best.

Nesta is still one of the best defenders around, and he's wat? 58?

LOL, nesta is 35 years old btw, in milan, you can expect oldies to perform brilliantly, like maldini, gattuso and ambrosini all played against liverpool back in 2007 at the age of above 30..

im just glad to see how messi frustrated after a challenge from nesta from an angle against abbiati..nesta did really well in his debut against messi rclxms.gif

Andres Iniesta will be sidelined for around a month after suffering an injury during Barcelona's Champions League draw with AC Milan, the Primera Division club have confirmed.

the team were really poor in corner defense and aerial challenges.
in the past game against madrid they would almost scored 3-4 goals
from the corner. WTH !!!!

and now thiago silva proves that point.

agree.

eventhough in the first half we attacked a lot,but when milan try to counter attack, damn lots of space down there.and valdes aint convincing either.

like somebody said before,we really miss pique.

i got to say, milan's really good.their back four really hard to penetrate.and seedorf notworthy.gif

IMHO we were just unfortunate. Had Abidal didn't concede the corner easily, we would have win. Not taking anything away from Milan, as they also played well, especially Nesta, but the fact that we conquered the game from start to finish shows that there was nothing wrong with Pep's system. His players fought well from a goal down, and were going to win the match only to be cancelled by the last play of the match. We failed to win, but not because of our system.

just have a weird feeling about pep rotation lately. Keita is not a DM for me despite his great 2nd half last nite.

Nesta is class. that tackle was perfect. messi reaction after that was funny laugh.gif

Good observation there. Yes he had pretty good 2nd half, which make me think that Pep knows what he is doing, and Keita is slowly getting it.

I'd love to see 3-4-3 again, but since we have Alves, Cesc may just fill in for Iniesta in 4-3-3. Anything Pep decides is good enough to me biggrin.gif

Based on last night game, I think if Pedro doesn't show improvement in several of next games, he'll lose his place to Cesc. It just seems worth it to sacrifice an attacker to bring in a midfielder who compliments Messi greatly.

well, u always can heard this kind of comment from the bpl fans, defenders in la liga are slow, soft in tackle, not physical..worst is barca cant win against stoke city..LOL

still, last night, our defense is not much tested by osasuna, next game shall be a real test to it.

that's ridiculous, just because they're impossible to face each other people like to make stuff. They're struggling against Dynamo Kiev in Europa League, and i'm sure will be easily destroyed by Barcelona.

OK now, for some analysis. Actually Chelsea played quite well in attack. However in defense, all they had was that 1 line of 4 last defenders, with no DM whatsoever (or was Meireless really useless?). A hell lot of time afforded to Man Utd players (especially Nani) to exploit the hole between their defenders and midfielders. So to go back to something Barca-related......

.......tonight, one of the BPL top teams have shown absolutely sh!tty defensive tactic, even as noob as what Osasuna showed last night. What's more, they had the supposedly rock solid Terry marshalling their defense. Who lead Osasuna's back line? Err....Riversio? laugh.gif laugh.gif

He already has his hattrick rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

But although Falcao is a beast, I think its pretty foolish of Atletico to spend all of Aguero's money on a player. I think they need the money to get at least one top class defender as well.

BUT that doesnt mean they have the best team or the best player

aguero in athletico consistent 20+ goals in a season, but he never won golden boot (correct me if i'm wrong)
come to bpl suddenly become contender to golden boot...not that i'm saying he's not good but you get my point
same goes to torres, when he arrived in england, first season he became oversea player to scored the most goal in debut season, overtake nistelrooy record

generally, bpl= high tempo, fast game, highly physical
la liga= possession football? skills?
serie a= defence specialist, counter attack

well...fact that barca and real madrid received way different revenue from broadcasting rights do increase the gap between teams

and the time of la liga matches are too late (most ppl are sleeping or have work to do next day)

in addition, sugar daddies bought clubs in EPL and it's certainly more exciting now compared to la liga in terms of the intensity

last but not least, imho the opinion barca wont last against stoke

is purely based on the fact that Stoke players are too physical and Barca may be cant cope well with them (easy to fall down and etc)

in terms of technicality, Barca is out of meter compared to all teams in the world

about every season, you can expect them to say barca/ madrid.
take note only barca/ madrid realistically have chance to nick it.

now ask the same question, who will win the epl?
some say man u? chelsea? man city? liverpool? arsenal?
look, i know liverpool and arsenal have been in a shitty form now.
but hey, we know both teams have a shot at the title every now and then. unsure.gif

speaking of CL, we all know barca is the greatest team now.
look at the previous stats, most of the time only barca managed to sail into the quarter/semi/finals stages.

The real question is, is there no such gap between Man Utd compared to the rest?

City is catching up because of their money.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are thought to be in transition. So they should be considerably weaker than they were few years ago no? So isn't that showing the gap? I don't need to speculate anything like how you do with that Stoke bulls, I just have to show Man Utd results against Arsenal and just now Chelsea. BOTH were really horrible with their defense. Bolton also received a mauling in their own stadium too. why not BPL fanboys just point this out as the gap, like Real-Barca have in Liga? At least we have 2 horse race in Spain. Right now, BPL fans have to pray for City to keep up with Utd, otherwise, BPL should be wrapped up early.

I heard there are 6 title contenders right? Who's the other one? Spurs? I LOLed laugh.gif

Intensity, yes. But better competition? Better midtable teams?

Now, Malaga has been bought by Sheikhs as well. Getafe will be taken up fully by another group of Sheikh next year. Atletico is still in fine financial state. Sevilla is still pretty much a good team, as long as they keep Palop outta their team. Valencia have never seemed to be affected by their troubles. Real Sociedad held us to a draw, Levante just defeated Madrid.

Clubs in Spain are in financial troubles, but it is not always reflected by on-pitch performance.

Can't you just see? People only talk about Barca and Real because Malaysian generally lack the exposure towards La Liga. Thus they are not familiar Villareal, Valencia and Atletico. They just don't realize that Valencia has won just as much league titles as Arsenal did during the past 10 years.

Meanwhile, although it has been always Man Utd who managed to grab the league nearly every year, because of the fan base, EPL teams are automatically regarded much higher.

Conclusion, your example is very biased, and in no way it strengthens your argument.

that is so not true. lack of exposure?
really?
come'on seriously? you think villareal, valencia and atletico can win the league?

if we compare valencia's title in the past 10 years and arsenal's premier league, we have valencia 1, arsenal 3. in the between blackburn won it once and chelsea also got 3. that is what i'm saying. even a team like blackburn pocket it once. can malaga/deportivo/sociedad do the same in la liga?

i dont see how fans will rate other teams higher? especially the arrogant devils. generally man u got the largest fanbase in asia. not sure about other continents. that doesnt mean all fans are bias towards the league their team in. smile.gif

last time you checked? i assume last season?
check 2/3/4 seasons back for better reliability/consistency.
la liga big 2 pervasively looking at BPL for players too if you can take off your spanish hat for a while.
ronaldo, manu>rm, the most recent, fabregas>barca, in the past owen>rm, beckham>rm, van nistelrooj>rm, van bronchost, petit, overmars, silvinho, arsenal>barca.

no hard feeling here, but it seems barca loves arsenal players so much. laugh.gif

This BS is the easiest and the last haters could hang onto, because in no way Barca can prove otherwise. Well, not if they somehow get into UCL laugh.gif

Just cut the crap OK? rolleyes.gif

Yeah it used to be like that. Not now though. Last I checked, Spain have 2 reps in UCL semis, 1 in Europa Cup semis, and 1 winner in UEFA Super Cup. In the meantime, BPL teams are continuously looking for players in the more 'inferior' La Liga. whistling.gif  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

Cheers.

i think u misunderstood the stoke barca thingy i mentioned

wad i mean is that I think....the person who said that (Andy Gray if I'm not right)

his statement might be based on physical of Stoke

apart from that, u mentioned about the taking over in La Liga

it's not that relevant yet, Getafe and Malaga are only in their 1st season after take over

PSG too (did not perform that well as well)

but chelsea man city played few seasons already, so the performance has improve alot

and about the scorelines against chelsea arsenal recently

arsenal is plagued by injuries (transfer policies defect for ages), chelsea is in transition

if u watch the game (esp chelsea) the 3-0 doesnt represent the performance in pitch

just the finishing of man utd is better

and if u read correctly wad I wrote

nvr once I said which league is superior wink.gif I myself watched both

I was merely analysing reasons why ppl said BPL is better (popular) than la liga smile.gif

last but no least, chances of upset in BPL is higher than la liga if nt mistaken

p/s: there are many ways to interpret the word 'better' , it depends on how u look at it, better as in better teams? more hype? and etc

no right or wrong here

that is so not true.  lack of exposure?
really?
come'on seriously? you think villareal, valencia and atletico can win the league?

Yup, its lack of exposure. While most people know how dude like Joe Cole and Benayoun play, how many people know how Piatti (Valencia), Perotti (Sevilla) and Camunas (Villareal) play? Which of them are good, which are overrated?

Oh, and how about Arsenal and Liverpool chances? Do they really have chances? If you take off you English hat, you will see that for quite a while now they haven't had the consistency to properly challenge for the title. And right now, its just all about Man Utd. Things are getting worse there brows.gif

For me, who actually WATCH both leagues, in some matches, Liverpool have shown as much fight against Man Utd as Valencia have against Barca. Not much difference.

QUOTE
if we compare valencia's title in the past 10 years and arsenal's premier league, we have valencia 1, arsenal 3.  in the between blackburn won it once and chelsea also got 3.  that is what i'm saying.  even a team like blackburn pocket it once.  can malaga/deportivo/sociedad do the same in la liga?

i dont see how fans will rate other teams higher?  especially the arrogant devils.  generally man u got the largest fanbase in asia.  not sure about other continents.  that doesnt mean all fans are bias towards the league their team in. smile.gif
LOL, see? Your misinformation just show lack of exposure? And surprise, you just did a mistake with Arsenal record as well.

BOTH Valencia and Arsenal won their respective leagues in 01/02 and 03/04 seasons. Please refer wiki back laugh.gif

Oh, and for Blackburn, Deportivo la Coruna won the league in 2000.

Chelsea? I always regarded them as the only side who can offer consistency to challenge United. So for me there has always been big 2 in EPL. So I'd compare their position with Real Madrid. The difference now is, while Real is still pushing Barca, Chelsea has now slowed down at an alarming rate.

Liverpool has been shite for a long time now, just like Atletico Madrid.

But I'm actually referring to current situation. To actually roll back 10 years can be misleading.

QUOTE
last time you checked? i assume last season?
check 2/3/4 seasons back for better reliability/consistency.

If I were you, I'm gonna check how Spanish team fared in Europa as well wink.gif Atletico and Sevilla won it remember? Villareal in the semis last year? They were not that bad, as how you guys in BPL clubs thread like to point out laugh.gif Sometimes reading comments that is Barca related in those thread is laughable. All of them ooze some kind of arrogance about their supposedly 'better' league, with not much of understanding about LL.

What's your comment about how Real Sociedad earned a draw against us last week? How about Hercules who defeated us in Camp Nou last year? Are those results because they are crappy teams, who likes to lie down so Barca can roll over 'em?

Shiiiit. Everytime there is a discussion, I'm busy at work or on holiday.

EPL fan boys,
after the "international break", look how easy it was for Man U and Man City to crush their opponents. And SAF as just complaining that too many of his stars need to play for their respective countries.

COmpare those results and matches to Madrid's and Barca's.
They both had trouble in the so called "inferior and less competitive league". Barca actually drew and Madrid had a lot of trouble but in the end won their match.

He seriously has some issues.

most of them are bandwagon
just follow crowd and friends..just wanna fit in

knowledge about football..zero..ok maybe got abit la
but when champion league or world cup/euro, english team or england lose, they all butthurt..how can? (because this clowns only watch bpl and are clueless about other european league- la liga, serie a, bundesliga etc)

yes, bpl is the most exciting league
yes, bpl is the most competitive league
yes, bpl is the most entertaining league
(heck i watched bpl more than la liga itself)
BUT that doesnt mean they have the best team or the best player

aguero in athletico consistent 20+ goals in a season, but he never won golden boot (correct me if i'm wrong)
come to bpl suddenly become contender to golden boot...not that i'm saying he's not good but you get my point
same goes to torres, when he arrived in england, first season he became oversea player to scored the most goal in debut season, overtake nistelrooy record

generally, bpl= high tempo, fast game, highly physical
la liga= possession football? skills?
serie a= defence specialist, counter attack

uefa champion league winners speak for itself
12 winners from spain
11 winners from england
11 winnners from italy
if bpl>all, shouldnt english team should have more UCL trophy

What's with all these number rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

For me, the best way to understand football is to watch it.

You want to understand BPL, you watch it.
You want to understand LL, you watch it.
You want to understand Serie A, you watch it.
You want to understand Barca, you watch 'em play.
Simple.

Stats are ruining football by oversimplifying the diversity of beautiful game. How can you judge psychological demand based on challenges made in a league?

In the latest Revista de La Liga, David Silva offered some interesting POV. He said the difference when playing in LL and BPL:

1) BPL is more physical and fast paced, but lotsa empty space attacking players can exploit due to defenders constantly out of position after pressuring;
2) LL is played at slower pace, but "in LL the defense is more organized" (direct quote from interview), thus leaving fewer space for attackers, and consequently they are harder to break down.

If you want to watch his interview, download Revista de La Liga 30th August episode. Of course he touched many other things, and he did pointed out the advantages of BPL. But are LL defense really that shitty? doh.gif doh.gif

arsenal won 3 times if i count from the BPL format. that is how i counted just now. smile.gif

if you talk about previous few seasons, chelsea, pool, arsenal are always there to challenge for the title. this season we have city up there.

seriously nobody gives 2 cents about europa league. and we are talking about bpl vs. la liga now. smile.gif

those scrappy results happen in every league. what about fulham drawing with citeh? wolves beating man u last season. wigan do the same to arsenal.

The first one you counted was more than 10 years ago.

If you still want to count it, please, learn this...

Since the inception of EPL (92/93 season);

The league champions were:

Man Utd - 12
Arsenal - 3
Chelsea - 3
Blackburn - 1

In Spain:

Barcelona - 9
Real - 6
Valencia - 2
Depor - 1
Atletico - 1

So which stats looks prettier? biggrin.gif

Please, put Liverpool and Arsenal outta that elite bracket. There has always been only "Big 2" in EPL i.e Man Utd and Chelsea. Because they are the only teams who have the consistency. Similar like what Barca and Real have in LL.

So with deeper thought, actually both LL and EPL contain similar excitement that anybody can take off points from anybody, even the top dog in the league right? So, please, do explain to us again, why EPL has better competition than LL?

EPL is physical, La Liga is technical, nuff said. How to compare? I personally thing as a league whole, EPL is more competitive but thats my opinion, if i debate or discuss with La Liga viewers of course there wont be a factual right answer.

EPL supporters think La Liga viewers are watching from a La Liga tinted glass, and the vice versa. Well guess what, duh! If i watch EPL more than La Liga, obviously i have more knowledge about EPL and thus can argue more strongly for EPL. at least i know i will be having this tinted glass laugh.gif

It's always a cycle in my opinion. in the mid 2000s, theres a fear that the gap between top 4 in England is getting bigger and bigger, coz of the spending power. It used to be that same 4 teams at the top in the first half of 2000s, only until recently Spurs and City are challenging into the bracket. and by 2009 & 2010 only the event of a minnow team can beating the top team is more common. When i was watching Man utd in 2006-2007, i can see a fixture and say "hah! a win in a hand". Not the case now though.

I think the same thing happens now, only now its 2 teams at the top of La Liga and nobody seems to be able to stop them. Who knows what might happen? Valencia gets an injection from some new owner? Malaga's owner splash cash as well? Some genius manager took over Real Betis and ressurect them from the depth and challenge at least for Europa spot? (yes back when the ever-so-selfish Denilson is with them).

Regardless, there wont be a right or wrong answer. Discuss all you want, both sides will be biased. Ive been in such discussion before, this is not the first and definitely wont be the last.

PS: If you really wanna watch competitive league, go watch Bundesliga. The winner can be a team that doesnt even qualify for UCL the previous season, and the 2nd and 3rd in 2009-2010 end up as 13th & 14th in 2010-2011 laugh.gif. And in terms of financial aspect of the league, they have the healthiest one with very few debts around.

Somehow, I'm agreed on this part..LOL

The league just started with third game, i wont be tat arrogant to deny other team chances for the champion even though Barcelona and Real Madrid are the favorite among them.

You can have an excellent start, but must consistent enuf , else will flop like some <insert name team>, cool2.gif

since i'm too lazy to quote anyone,so here goes

yes EPL is six horse race, but not all gunning for the trophies

the three teams(United,City,Chelsea) are going for the title

the other three teams(Arsenal,Spurs,Liverpool) is going for the 4th spot in UCL.they do have outside chances to win the premiership though.since Aston Villa is doing fine under Mcleish so throw them into the fray as well

Maybe I'm one of the guy who believe that not every general opinion are correct.

I also think that Barca and Real are the safest bet to win La Liga.

Now the difference between our opinions are the number of teams could win the BPL. You believe in the so called Big 4. I say in recent seasons, chances for Liverpool and Arsenal have always been exaggarated. Thus I believe in my BPL's Big 2 theory. But since you are Arsenal fan iinm, surely you won't accept this. So we may just have to agree to disagree then.

LOL!

Milan did well against us imo. they utilized their chances and their defense was world class. (Nesta)

Midfielder Thiago Alcantara has stated that the ‘League of Two’ (Barça and Madrid) is “a big lie” because all “the teams bring the best [version] of themselves and come to win.” Additionally, the player has expressed his delight with his developing role in the team.

The alleged ‘League of two’ between Barça and Madrid has been one of the major talking points so far this season. Even more so after the blaugrana dropped points in Anoeta and the blancos at the Ciutat de València. Thiago Alcantara has taken it upon himself to contradict this bipolarity of the Championship: “It’s a big lie, the League of two. It has never been nor will it ever be. The teams come with many desires, they bring the best [version] of themselves and come to win. Today you could be up and down tomorrow, because the League is very long.”

but last season it was a two horse race in the epl.

I just saw the league table on espn star.
both manchester teams had a goal difference of 12 while the 3rd team only had 2  biggrin.gif

To be honest, it's 3.
Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea.
Arsenal was leading the table till the last 10 games or so before they start to self destructing. Then Man Utd leapfrogged them. Chelsea only overtook the 2nd spot in the last 3-4 games.

A championship winning team do not stutter badly at the end of the season. Arsenal did. For all I know, if I needed to choose a BPL winner last season to save my life, I wouldn't choose other than Chelsea or Man Utd. In the end, Man utd won, and by some margin as well. It was quite predictable biggrin.gif

By the looks of La Liga table right now.. after four matches i don't see any two horses race. What i see is 6 - 7 teams battling for no.1 spot.

....and i must admit, after 5 matches in BPL, it looks like it's gonna be 2 horses race between MU and MC. Both of them are steamrolling their opposition each week.

What a game now. If not because of Soldado's miss, we would be down 2 goals already...

I think probably this is the best all round performance by an opposing team against us.

we shud win this match, but i settle with a draw.. valencia is playin great, but i wana say very bad refereeing in this match, a lot of controversial decision, the saldado yellowcard, the 2 penalty claims..

and who said la liga is a battle only between rm and barca?

what i can say is the 3 4 3 formation is really a double edge sword, if it work, we won big, but if it didnt work, our back is really in very high risk, especially against strong team lyk valencia and also rm.

Added on September 22, 2011, 6:07 amalso we start to dominate the game as soon as pep switch to our original formation, and then we started to create a lots of chances and a bit minimizing danger at the back.

I screamed so hard after that Guaita save. What a move.

I think the result is fair. Both teams were great. Hats off to Valencia.

And Cesc-Messi combination is set to be our driving force for years to come. Maybe when Pique is back we will get to see the holy trinity of La Masia? I can't wait.

nah, comparing and slating other league is boring talk.. each leagues, each seasons, have own story.. my life arent so empty, so i only follow one league..

btw, Banega guy look great. made few sloppy passes, but made Barca CMs looked average than usual. wonder why no big teams (only Inter rumoured to be interested) after him.. he have poor Copa America, but looked class act last season.

a quote i got from espn soccernet bout our team.

QUOTE
VERDICT: If they perform at their best and stay injury-free, no one can stop them.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story...group-h?cc=4716

our performance so far was good but not really at it best, but injuries are starting to hit our players one by one.. sweat.gif sad.gif

also this from the article

QUOTE
Messi, in particular, has bailed his side out of trouble time again in recent years and it would be impossible to fill the void he would leave should he be sidelined for a sustained period. That said, Barca have enough class oozing from their fringe players and celebrated youth academy to plug holes when they arise.

just hope nothin serious if messi got injured.. not that i say we cant win without him, but wit him we hv better chances of winning especially tough matches. rclxms.gif

Messi , even not playing at his best, still can provide 2 assists (shoulda been 3, blame villa). his stats so far 9 goals 9 assists. amazing.

i was just being sacrastic. lol

MU did play the best football in PL so far.

abt barca his 1st and 2nd goal was just awesome. and 3-4-3 did produce another manita today.
*
indeed the formation works this tym compared to when we were against valencia, however i notice this tym alves was more in the defense rather then goin up lyk he always did, gues that is why this tym it works and the opponent dont simply attack our left flank easily lyk wat happened during valencia match.

Alves was kept on a leash by Pep hehe.

I seriously don't give a damn about the pinchichi/top scorer award.
At the end of the day, it's the team title that is more important.
Messi thanked his team mates again last night.
The kid is so humble unlike the "rich, good looking and good" player.
How many penalties did he get and score this season already?
And how about last year?

Hello there,

I am a new to the forum. I just came in to say I am a Barca and Liverpool fan.

Been supporting Liverpool for almost 11 years and Barca about the same time. Mainly because of sibling rivalry really, since other members of the family supports Manchester and Madrid. I opted to be the odd one out.

Anyway I really hope the results will continue to roll on for us as the last thing I want to see is the smug face of Mour carrying the La Liga at seasons end.

Sevilla brought the game on with them. We were ineffective.

I was watching the stream on my laptop and it was pretty bad but the gist of it: a very disappointing draw.

Onwards to the next game.

And the Barca of England was routed 6-1 at their own ground. smile.gif

Cesc obviously said something. I think he has some histories of being contentious on the pitch ever since his Arsenal and La Masia days. But to suggest that he threw racist remarks? doh.gif So far no concrete evidence showed, like Villa and Busi's cases. This stupid rumor will die soon enough I think.

Be careful there. I'm pretty sure that you, like me, don't know Spanish much. Even if we have a seemingly strong evidence, we still don't understand what Canal people said in Spanish.

And like you've put it, Cesc ALLEGEDLY insulted Kanoute. You see? That's the best you can put it. Because in truth nobody is sure 100%.

And what about Abidal, who was just about metres away from Cesc during the incident? Shouldn't he also reacted towards whatever horrible things Cesc may have said?

Haha, come on bro. How can u say Abidal was meters away from incident ? Look the clip below n clearly u can see Abidal and Valdes running from nower n confront Kanoute !!! Busquets did a good job of preventing a bigger fight smile.gif

Cesc did clarify things, if you followed his twits. Saying how he's been working with people of various background, and that his latest GF is Lebanese, and he'd never make racist remark while his own social circle consist of many people from many races. But of course since he is a Barca player that's never sufficient right?

Doesnt really matter wat cesc said, anythg would anger kanoutte in that situation.. The tension n evrythg, let say u r kanoutte, the ref giv penalty to my team, last minute plak tu, then u go n kaco the ball b4 I kick it, then my fren came to u n sound ' nice move, congrat on ur yellow', I believe u also will snap, my point is, both kanoute n cesc hv apologize towards each otha, wateva he said doesnt matter anymore, even us, sometime we were racist too when we got mad, but we never really mean so.

and i`ll be happy if alves maintain last night performance. perfect cross, perfect goal, perfect games!

david villa is 1 of the best strikers in the world and if pep put him in the middle not on the wing he will score and don't compare between zlatan and villa because zlatan is a crybaby

Well, when Zlatan with us, we always cross at the right side because Zlatan good with header and he's taller.
And Villa pretty good in finishing.

Kind of funny to c most of our bought player - affelay, sanchez n febregas injured.. Hehe kinda like we stick to the same old team as las season.. Hope all the injured players recover soon n got well n not to injured themselve again. Feb n sanchez in comin back to play, only affelay stay sideline till nex year, I pity this guy, he is yet to show muc to the team, n I hope he stayed wit us longer to show something n not to loan/sold to anybody b4 he prove himself worthty. I hav faith in this guy. Recover fast affelay.

Never doubted the little guy for a while. Players have their up/down days. Messi just wanna raise CR7's hopes high so he can crush those dreams into tiny pieces when he wins the Balon D'Or again.

On side note, Cuenca is rly nt bad, lol....totally can fit into the first team as well, if u guys saw his run and ball controlling...

Are you assuming that he is a good header because he is taller?
How many times has he scored with his head?
I think messi scored more with his head.
Zlatan is pretty scared to head the ball.
Even if he has a free header, he would try out some ninja kick.
It got to a point where Pep got mad during a match.
I followed him since his Ajax days since I'm an Ajax fan too.

Well he didn't suggest we were successful with our supposedly "plan B" aka the crossing game. In truth during that season it was proved that we have no decent crosser and, yes as you pointed out, Ibra was not a good header.

But Cuenca has been a revelation so far. He helped the team a lot with his crosses. Perhaps we will see more goals like the one Cesc scores. Now its time for our midget players to learn how to time their late runs into the box to attack the ball. I think Cesc and Thiago are the best ones at doing this among current players.

Added on November 3, 2011, 3:05 pmOh and apparently Cuenca is a freestyler too laugh.gif

I also didn't talk about us being successful.
I'm jsut talking about Zlatan and people's perception that he is good with headers because he is tall.
It's like saying, Messi is weak because he is small.

"Barcelona was a childhood dream and I was walking on air, It started well but then Messi started to talk."

"He wanted to play in the middle, not on the wing, so the system changed from 4-3-3 to 4-5-1."

"I was sacrificed and no longer had the freedom on the pitch I need to succeed."

"So I asked for a meeting with Guardiola - for a discussion, not an argument."

"I said I was being used in the wrong way and that they shouldn’t have bought me if they wanted another type of player."

"I told him what a friend had said to me - 'you bought a Ferrari but drive it like a Fiat'."

"The chat seemed to go well but then Guardiola started to freeze me out."

"I would walk into a room; he would leave. He would greet everyone by saying hello, but would ignore me."

"I had done a lot to adapt - the Barca players were like schoolboys, following the coach blindly, whereas I was used to asking 'why?'."

"I like guys who run red lights, not pedantic and strict rules. So I tried to be overly nice, didn’t dare lose my temper."

"But after this I stopped trying to adapt. For example, at Barca players were banned from driving their sports cars to training."

"I thought this was ridiculous - it was no-one’s business what car I drive - so in April, before a match with Almeria, I drove my Ferrari Enzo to work. It caused a scene."

"Pep was staring at me and I lost it. I thought ‘there is my enemy, scratching his bald head’. I yelled to him: ‘you have no balls!’ And probably worse things than that."

'You are s***ing yourself because of the lose against Inter. You can go to hell!’ I was completely mad."

"I threw a box full of training gear across the room, it crashed to the floor and Pep said nothing, just put stuff back in the box."

"I’m not violent, but if I were Guardiola I would have been frightened."

credit to Barcastuff, as Ibra wrote in his book.

So guys, what can you make of this? rclxub.gif

I think his story has shaded some interesting nature inside our dressing room atmosphere. The 'schoolboy' word just show that Pep has put a number of restrictions, and our players are just happily obliged to follow them. No ego whatsoever occur. I think I'm pretty much prefer that kinda atmosphere in our team. Much more stability in it. Well, of course it was until Ibra cause the scenery.

Secondly, I think it just put to the bed the accusation that Pep didn't want Eto'o because of his attitude, because if Pep did, surely he wouldn't want another hot headed guy. As I said in previous thread (or was it 2 years ago?), the 'feeling' was just about football, and nothing personal.

Oh well, Pep for all his accomplishment, is still a rookie. Much things to learn I suppose in terms of relationship with his players. Or maybe in choosing which player to buy.

I'm a bit ol fashion guy and only got internet at home in July 2009.
One of the first things I did was to bombard the Barcelona email with emails why they shouldn't sign Ibra and instead go for Villa.
It was at the time when Laporta was reported to be in Milan or Moratti in Barcelona, one of those 2.
I just dislike Ibra for his inability to perform in big matches, his horrible attitude and his PIZZA maker turned agent.
Since I am an Ajax fan I knew his problems.

But for him to pick up a fight with Pep in the dressing room is really disrespectful, the worst act so far.
It actually made me sad for a couple of hours thinking about Pep.

And yesterday another news came out that Ibra boasted how he would beat Pep up in public and his agent said Ibra would keep his word.

Anyways, we have the last laugh.
He can keep his Ferrari while we are collecting trophies.

On an unrelated topic,
the Barca youth team in the Baby Champions League beat Man City 4-1.
Imagine if that squad included G. Deulefeu, S. Gomez, Espinosa who are all in Barca B now.

Yeah Ibra acted like a douche. That's pretty obvious. But I think Ibra had a point about the Ferrari Fiat bit. It seemed like Pep didn't have definite plan for him. Like you pointed out, if he had planned to play Messi in the false 9 role, then Villa was the much better choice than Ibra, as Ibra's best role is the false 9 too. And its incredibly surprising considering how serious our efforts were, both monetary and time. I can't fault him if he feels that he had wasted his time at Camp Nou.

Last night I watched the B team played against Cordoba. Gerard and Espinosa were playing. Both had pretty average game, but Gerard did flourished during early stages and scored the only goal. He drifted away badly thereafter though. But I heard he has bern good witht he B team so far. I heard he was given atanding ovation at Huesca iinm last week.

Yeap, horrible pitch. Overgrown grass, heavily clogged with water. Furthermore they were absolute lucky to get the 2nd goal. But I guess we were also kinda lucky with Messi's goal and Amorebieta's sending off. So can't complain much I guess. What struck me the most is how on earth Athletic had the stamina to defend like that? And all them had that sudden burst of pace to catch up our players even Messi.

Villa had a row with messi remember?

Hehe no just kidding.
He had a slight discomfort since last week.
He looked good though when he came on, jsut need to sort out his shooting skills.

What a tough match. Our team just don't have a good relationship with the nature (volcano, rain). mad.gif

I finally thought that we could win an away game which I think we had a chance cos we didn't play horribly even in those conditions. Imagine if it didn't pour like that.

I don't follow the Barca babies. No time for that. I did download or stream them last year though but no time for that now.
Espinosa, Rafinha and G. Deulofeu are supposed to be the biggest talents. Many said that Rafinha is better than his big brother Thiago, we shall see.
But from what I;ve seen during the pre-season games, only Deulofeu failed to impress me. He looks like a hit or miss guy.
But since then he had a standing ovation at an away match and was even being called up and actually played some minutes so I guess he must be doing things right.

At first I thought that you agreed with Ibra driving a Ferrari to the stadium biggrin.gif
But that was really low of Ibra when everyone drove in company car.
It offended both Pep and his team mates.
Imagine you're supposed to wear a school uniform and one kid wears an original Gucci cap, YSL shirt, G. Armani pants and LV shoes to top it off.
How would you feel?
Ibra doesn't get the whole uniformity and equality thing.

Crap!! The match tonight won't be shown either live nor delayed telecast.
Was looking forward to see some youngsters on HD on TV.
Gotta spend a few hours downloading tomorrow.Sigh.

That's tabloid story, so don't worry biggrin.gif

But if you follow Revista de La Liga, well they do have interesting story they speculated about Villa.

Read here.

If you read it, please take note the words "story" and "speculated" brows.gif

Yeah. We lost the CL and when he left we won it back.

Did you guys notice how England scored the goal?
Through a dive from Milner who was then rewarded the FK which was then converted into a goal.
Milner threw himself to the ground.

This question deserves a new thred. Besides Rosell represented his view as the vice president of ECA, not as a Barca president.

Moreover, while the Champions League suggestion is related to the European scene, reducing teams in the league is only a suggestion for La Liga. Read here. And apparently Pep has voiced his support for this idea, saying that it will increase the level of competitiveness in La Liga.

Whatever, just create a new thread Sols. FL is seriously lacking of neutral thread these days smile.gif Or perhaps we can use the Champions league thread? hmm.gif

Puyol has experience playing there, he's played there ever so often and also before he was a permanent CB. But playing him at RB tonight is really weird coz he definitely has no pace for SB anymore (even seedorf outran him in an instance), whereas we would have missed the steel and mind he could have contributed in the centre. Wat happened to Dani and Pique? I think pitting pique against ibra would mean that ibra could no more be such an easy channel for long balls from their defence, as we have seen tonight.

Nevertheless a win to top the group. Can't complain. Maybe resting players after the international break is really important when el classico is around the corner. Two amazing passes from messi to see the 1st and 3rd goal was good enough. Fab and villa was a bit off tho.

1) I know right. Puyol should've just played at CB and sMasch at RB, he played there before., can't remember vs. who.
2) Pep saw how LLorente bullied Pique when we played Bilbao and made some adjustments I guess.

I am really not confident that Barca would retain the CL title and the league this season.
They just don't have the ability to pressure so intensively anymore and
they don't retain possession that good anymore.
It's almost December and the team still hasn't reached their peak.

It took me an hour to fall asleep again after the match.

i agreed wit u, this season either we r not better than last season or other teams knows how to press us when we posses the ball.. also most team that manage to draw with usually play a very fast pace when counter n also when pressing.. kinda our strategy turn against us.. hmm.gif but wateva it is i still hav faith our team will win either cl or liga, but both, that r very tough.. nod.gif

To be fair to the team they have plenty of fitness issue this season. Many of our players have various muscular discomforts this season. And yet we won our UCL grouppretty comfortably, and still only 3 points behind the marauding leaders in La Liga. If anyone who should be praised for our fairly good fortune so far, he must be Pep, however strange or over-tinkered his tactics might be.

I think its better to have this fitness problems in first half of the season and fix it immediately, rather than during the second half, and losing everything in the process.

Our first loss has finally arrived, 1-0 to gatafe.. we really unlucky tonite, almost get a draw, but anyway gatafe defend very good. 6 points now behind real madrid, levante after this, then the el classico.. if we cant win both matches after this especially against madrid, then i guess this season the throne will goes back to real madrid. frankly speakin, our performance currently way below par,and on the otha hand real is in a superb form.. will it be a treble season for real this tym?? only us can stop that.. hopefully..

sitting 6 points behind them will mean that mourinho can play for a draw and play ultra defensive when we play them at the bernabeu.

they don't need to win, a draw is good enough.
hopefully we will enter clasico with a 3 point difference only.
that will be a big factor.

3 points = madrid needs to win
6 points = madrid can play safe

Good news is Cesc, Iniesta and Sanchez has resumed full training. Hopefully we will get no more injury issue and everything will be back to normal. Ever since the start of pre season Pep hasn't been able to work with his full first team players consistently. The only positive outcome from this injury havoc is the emergence of Cuenca.

But we still have several notable issue. Afellay, and, well, its weird nobody hasn't mentioned it yet, Tito is recovering from the operation to remove a tumor from his parotid gland. Second member of our team to be strucked by a malign tumor. Anims Tito!!

Noway Owen is better than Messi. The writer want to argue that to be the best, Messi should join a mid table team like Stoke and win the title drool.gif

Nobody can do wat Maradona did for Napoli though

Flawed. Carry a sense of bias. Must be someone who hates Messi. However, he does have some point valid. The weak foot part. Isnt that the way Messi was outmusled, kept quiet by Arbeloa during the CL game against Liverpool few years back?

cesc and mascherano is not my favourite, they sometime cause some passing tempo lost. mascerano especially is very risky with his long ball passing
*
i agree with your assessment about Cesc. But he brings another dimension to our game. His direct gameplay and quick thinking ability inside opponents box is always useful. Now that Villa is off form, I think there's a big possibility that he will lose his place to Cesc to partner Messi.

I remember he'd written another heavily biased article about Barca 1 or 2 months back, although I forgot the title nor the link. My opinion is, either he is being paid by Soccernet to be funny, or he's really another hater who couldn't stand looking at Barca lifting 12 trophies in 3 years.

I always look up for Phil Ball's articles in Soccernet. He is the best source of football articles regarding Barca/La Liga.

Napoli in late 80's wasn't as bad as Stoke today though. I wonder why people keep on saying Napoli was a shit team, when in fact they had the money to buy Maradona on a then world record fee?

As MADReaLJL said, Messi has grown tremendously since then. His goals using his right foot.

Barcelona line-up (official): Pinto, Montoya, Bartra, Fontàs, Maxwell, Dos Santos, Thiago, Rafinha, Sergi Roberto, Cuenca and Pedro.

Barcelona bench: Oier, Piqué, Riverola, Kiko Femenía, Muniesa, Sergi Gómez and Deulofeu.

barcastuff

Although the game is pretty much meaningless, Thiago and Rafinha starting together bring a whole new excitement into the match rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif Gonna see some brotherly magic tonight rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

So so so proud.....

Before the match I wanted Thiago & Dos Santos in midfield because they are best friends and they use to run the midfield in the youth teams.

And Rafinha to play false 9.

Haven't watched the match yet, its on Astro PVR.

If its true that youth talents come in cycles, it seems like a long time before our Masia cycle stops.

Romeu also played well for Chelsea.

Napoli wasnt a shit team but for a club which never previously won the Serie A before , the Maradona effect is something big !!!!!

Sorry been missing for a bit.

I just got back from Chicago. It has been a really busy month.

Anyway best news for breakfast this morning. We don't have to re-thrash the Manu boys. They deposited themselves into the thrash bin last night.

All I can say is their arrogance will continue to be their undoing. Loved the radio chatter this morning as well.

Barca's B-team has already achieved a B+ on my list. Good win with and thanks for the highlights biggrin.gif

Wow.

At times the Babies looked better than the A-team.
Better movement, not relying on anyone to create some magic but instead all work together as a unit. A
What made me the most happy was the recovering the ball time. The A team has been too casual with it at times this season.

And Wow.. THe best league in the world only has one CL hopeful.
I guess the league is so strong until they're worn out tongue.gif
