By default windows uses extended mode. It means your monitor keeps each individual settings. What you are describing is expand mode, where multiple monitors are used as one large desktop. But you CAN'T use expand mode UNLESS you are using 3 exact same monitors (nVidia surround/ATi eyefinity).

Anyways on blu-ray movies, most of the ones I watched (from original blu ray disk mind you) are Anamorphic wide-screen, thus it's not 16:9

You can manually set the color for your monitor. Go to screen resolution --> Advanced settings --> Color Management
Click on "use my settings for this device"

Great. That is what i really wanted. Not the nvidia surround / ati eyefinity setup. Thank you for confirming this. The monitors should run well according to my needs smile.gif

Woohoo~ Just collected my first IPS panel - Dell U3011 which was purchased from Kelvin bro.

At first thought the Dell U3011 is indeed H-U-G-E. It took up both of my passengers seat in my car. Unpacking it was very exciting and easy. It took up almost 1/4 of my desk space. Setting it up along side with my MBP 13' make my MBP looks miniature. Too bad I can't test it right now as I'm lacking a miniDP to DisplayPort cable. Will set it up tonight and see the difference. I am expecting the color to be on par, or even better than the MBP display smile.gif

So exciting right now even by just staring at its black matte surface. Sexy!

Looking forward to post my mini-review about it smile.gif

A few pictures would be great smile.gif

Why not get the same monitor to match your dual setup?

Couldn't find it online. Perhaps you could open up a WTB thread over on garage sales. If not, then its time to look for a brand new monitor smile.gif

What would your budget be btw?

At last tested my U3011 with my MBP 2011 via miniDP to DP connection. I was really lucky as there is totally ZERO DEAD PIXEL. No issue with the backlight at all. My first impression was OMG! The color is much much vibrant in the monitor especially color grading whereby you can really see each different level of color. Color on the MBP display was great enough, but pair it up with U3011 and you got even vibrant color.

Regarding the screen estate, at first I was really afraid that I might not be able to adapt to it. But after using it for like, hmm, 1 minute I instantly get used to it. Having such huge screen estate really make multitasking easier.

If you had read on other site many often complaint about the strong AG coating or sparkle on the matte panel itself.. For me I didn't really noticing any of it.

Ok I guess that's enough for now. Watching HD movie on it now smile.gif Feels awesome.

Umm differences between U2312M and U2312HM? Not really good in monitor hardware stuff.. I'd like just a simple idea of what makes the difference.

U2312HM = Dell where the U infront means Ultrasharp.

Anyways, The Dell uses an IPS panel whereas the Samsung uses a TN panel.

What this means is that the Dell monitor would show you so many shades of colors that you wouldn't be able to see on the Samsung. The colors represented on the Dell monitor is more accurate than the Samsung as well. Another thing, let me put it in a user friendly perspective, when you tilt your head, the image would appear to be blurry / unclear on a normal panel. So your head must be at the right position all the time when using a TN panel. However when you're using the Dell, with the IPS panel, the image would still be viewable if you were to tilt your head. Another feature of the Dell is that you can turn the screen around , either in landscape mode or portrait mode. smile.gif

Hope it helps

Anti Glare monitor is good when you're in a room facing a light source. You wouldn't see much reflection on the screen. Of course depending on the quality of the panel, there will be some sacrifice in terms of brightness / colors. Glossy will always show better colors compared to matte (anti glare) but if you're sitting in a well lit / bright room, you'd see tons of reflections on the monitor.

From the specs listed for the monitor, it seems like it'll serve you well in terms of gaming, but almost everyone in this thread favors dell's monitors. If your budget is around RM600, Dell's U2312HM would serve you well. Its an IPS panel, so the screen is of a much higher quality than the TN panel from HP. For the difference between IPS (Dell) and the TN (HP) refer to my post above.

I think you mean matte and glossy screen
Glossy looks nice especially in movie but prepare for reflection and fingerprint
I prefer matte screen BTW
