QUOTE(dfcloud @ Dec 1 2011, 03:11 PM) Hellow, For some reason a Mod asked me to asked here and close my thread in Q&A.My current Samsung LCD is probably dead. So I would like to ask for some suggestion on LCD as per topic. Budget around RM400 but willing to push max RM500 Must be 16:10 ratio and reso just either native 1440×900 / 1680×1050 only. 19xx*1xxx is a no2 for me. So does going HD(16:9). Screen size is 19inch & above la kot. If there is none from what I prefer, I will probably be forced to buy this Thank you very gooding. soooo |

Any recommendations for a 20" monitor? Thinking of getting one for my laptop. Planning to extend the displays when necessary

Thanks for the suggestion about the issue I posted earlier.
I've tried reducing the contrast, indeed it helps with the brownish tone. However, it seems my monitor have the contrast set to 70 by default, even with brightness set to 100 already. Reducing it to 50 improves the color, but it looks dark. Its as if they increase the contrast to make it look brighter. Check the auto light level all off. Looks like there's no way to further increase the brightness on this monitor. Now I leave the contrast at 60 |

Decided to get the U2412M and P2312H combo. A 16:10 and 16:9 delight. So i'm covered both ways if necessary. Haha .
Should be a problem right using 16:10 and 16:9 monitors side by side? |

QUOTE(kembar4 @ Dec 2 2011, 01:10 AM) Nope. I do not span my monitors. They are extended, thus movies/software runs on one monitor without bothering the other. What I said about aspect ratios are modern movies usually are shot in 1.85:1 or 2.40:1 ratio. Thus it does not matter if you are using a 16:9 or a 16:10 monitor. they will still be black bars. |

This would depend on the source , and of course how its encoded. Anymore further and this topic would become illegal if you know what i mean. Anyways, from my experience, bluerayR Btw, how do i treat the 2 monitors as separate monitors? I mean, the desktop would extend to the 2nd monitor as well, but when i maximize a window, lets say my browser, would it be maximized across the 2nd monitor as well? If it does, how do i stop it and all other applications from maximizing to the 2nd monitor? |

Anyways, from my experience, bluerayR By default windows uses extended mode. It means your monitor keeps each individual settings. What you are describing is expand mode, where multiple monitors are used as one large desktop. But you CAN'T use expand mode UNLESS you are using 3 exact same monitors (nVidia surround/ATi eyefinity). Btw, how do i treat the 2 monitors as separate monitors? Anyways on blu-ray movies, most of the ones I watched (from original blu ray disk mind you) are Anamorphic wide-screen, thus it's not 16:9 QUOTE(Hornet @ Dec 1 2011, 09:30 PM) Thanks for the suggestion about the issue I posted earlier. Woohoo~ Just collected my first IPS panel - Dell U3011 which was purchased from Kelvin bro.
At first thought the Dell U3011 is indeed H-U-G-E. It took up both of my passengers seat in my car. Unpacking it was very exciting and easy. It took up almost 1/4 of my desk space. Setting it up along side with my MBP 13' make my MBP looks miniature. Too bad I can't test it right now as I'm lacking a miniDP to DisplayPort cable. Will set it up tonight and see the difference. I am expecting the color to be on par, or even better than the MBP display So exciting right now even by just staring at its black matte surface. Sexy! Looking forward to post my mini-review about it |
