If you have previously made an application and have not finished it, the application may still be in the system as an unfinished application, suggest using you old details and try to finish up the old one?

Or you can call immi tomorrow morning, just remember their wait times are about an hour sometimes, call first thing in the morning and you'll get someone.
*
The old one was saved, but every time you go into it, it starts from the first page again (0%), just with whatever you typed in still there. So it had the same problem, and I deleted it.

Yeah I've never been able to get through on the phone, I might do that at like 8:29 since I don't have anything to do tomorrow morning.

This isn't urgent like I need it tomorrow, but I'll surely need it in a few weeks, maybe even days if the SOL changes - I'm not 100% sure it won't be cut short yet, but I guess that's all we are gonna get in terms of updates until 1 July.

Thing is, news/blog posts last year had very clearly pointed out which occupation codes would be taken out, and which would be added, by the first couple days of June. This one just mentions a few to be added and says none have been taken out. It's a huge if.

A paper application is gonna royally muck things up.

There's no more visa 175, 176 .....
Replaced with 189 (independent skills) or 190 (state sponsor) or 457 (working visa)
My understanding is if your company gonna sponsor you then it's 457, hihihehe was based on this visa before, right?
If your employer not gonna sponsor you that then you have to apply either 189 or 190 and have to go thru skillselect.
1st thing you need to make sure the company that hire you gonna apply and pay for your visa
For my case, i'm the last batch of 175 which didn't go thru skillselect.
*
I'm applying for a 485

a 485 is a bit like a 457 except it's independent, nothing to do with the employer

so it's like a 189 except it's temporary, not permanent

unfortunately somehow it got bundled up with these archaic visas and now i can't even apply

i was in 485. 6 months of waiting for approval(bridging visa) then another 1 and a half year for the visa

how many times have you make the new applications?
*
oh is that a problem? i went into the system a few times, and sometimes accidentally created new applications because that happens when you go in. probably a few, <10 new ones were made.

haven't tried with new email yet.

6 months sounds like a lot - I heard of some TR and PR applications taking 2-3 months recently.

go try with new email account. as far as i remember, system doesn't allow duplicate applications

no, actually it was actually a year for me to get TR. lodged from March 2011, granted on April 2012, expired on Oct 2013  sweat.gif
but at least i can stay 1 more year extra under bridging visa. annoying part is i have to get bridging visa b if i fly out of country
TR process is more to first come first server basis and you can check the progress like what date the department is currently processing too.
*
i see. I heard stories of ppl who took a year or more to get TR. then others who got quite fast.

The system itself generates duplicate applications sometimes when you login, so they did exist until I deleted them. Will try a new address, thanks.

Might have something to do with their system 'outage' last week and this week

this reminds me that there was actually a fast processing for some groups of occupation(in demand) but marketing was definitely not in the fast track
*
but it's good as the bridging visa allowed you to stay

what was the process to get bridging B? complicated? expensive?

in my case if bridging takes 1 year i would want PR before i even get TR zzzz

just have to submit paper application to immigration and justify the reason you leaving the country. i applied twice($100+ each) and just simply state visit family as the reason and approved on the spot. but i heard different story recently that they no longer approve with a reason that is not major

you still can apply for PR while you are waiting for the TR though. it will cancel your previous visa once your PR is granted
*
I see. I guess the biggest thing would be the travel restriction - though I'd be working and wouldn't have the freedom I previously had.

Hmm have to come up with a reason. How come twice, there is a time limitation?

Damn, I knew it. Same error message.

Although I suppose if the TR takes that long, a brief delay won't be a huge problem.

As long as the employer can accept the bridging visa. Although that has no expiry and will present a problem in terms of the contract.

Most of my engineering friends applied for 485 around mid feb and got the official 485 by mid april. Bridging visa was given directly after lodging.

Thanks for the heads up.

Urgh one problem solved another just pops up.

i applied only when i going back malaysia for CNY. depending on the officer, they may give you 3 months of bridging b or up to 1 year. first time i applied they gave me 3 months then a year on second time

you can simply make up like attending your family member wedding but of course dont put cursing reason like saying family member sick, etc unless it's true smile.gif
*
i see... yeah I have heard wedding as a reason before. Didn't realise there was a time limit but now it makes sense after what I've heard.

hoping they fix the system in time! I have never ever seen an Australian system break down sad.gif

Unsure. But the planned outage on June the 14th to 15th does indicate they might want to implement some changes to the system and roll it out on Monday.
*
although the changes wouldn't apply until July, presumably

main question is whether the full list will be revealed and confirmed

i bloody hope it doesn't change, I'll have 70 points when the time comes next year

hardcover saver? well, the environment here is different from malaysia. icon_rolleyes.gif early expenses will rock up X3 your initial budget and you got be smart where bound you to go.

this whole WHV thingy more like a scout looking for adventure. icon_idea.gif
*
actually I saw an article about fruit farmers... they want the WHV or something along those lines promoted as their pickers weren't returning for future seasons!

didn't research the WHV as it's not a viable option for me - but there's a cap on it anyway

Figured out why my application wouldn't work. An error with the health declarations.

Immigration was extremely nice to deal with smile.gif

Roma and Miles site based work. Didn't pay the day rate of 800 for 10 hours a day I wanted but it was a good offer.

I'm not sure, might get a competing offer from GE Oil and Gas and that's why I've elected to sign my contract (with medicals and background checks done) on my start date and reserved the right to pull out as I wish in the probation period.
*
I see. Congrats on the job!

Do they use standard medicals - or you probably haven't done one recently?

Each employer will have their own medical provider and you do it every time you get a new job. It's pretty much the practice. The only transferable medical I know of is a "Coal Board" medical.
*
I see. I've not been asked to do one. Then again, all the visas make you do them, and all the contracts have that easy termination clause.

you can still be brought in and sponsored

just like how Malaysia imports executive talent

you just need to be really outstanding - unfortunately that is not the case here

i'm talking about people with 5-25 years experience, strong and proven results, leadership, unique talents or skills, and can blow people away with their resume and their phone interviews

a person who can assume the role of CEO, or transform an entire research department, for example

most people are struggling to find work even when they are living right here... how is someone outside going to stand a chance without all of the above
