the 3 - 5 hours specs is just a pre-caution that your playstation2 slim won't easily fall to the category of "Lens Dead"

you can go beyond 6 hours or more. (yes. 24 hours also no problem. but must be cooling area.. [Fren playing GT 4 Endurance Map gila Sial... 152 Laps. ]

i think the heat produce by ps2 slim also connected wif wat kind game u play
i play game tat require little loading time it get little bit hot
when i play game require more loading time it got very hot

I just bought a PS2 1 week ago & so far so good, just yesterday when i'm played the NFS 'Most wanted' it hang once, after reset it work well, hope it nothing wrong with it. the model i bought are scph70007 ntsc/j & is from DjiNn shop. Anyway, just add a customer usb fan at the back, seem it cool down alot, but what i'm worry is it will caught more dust after long run.

i hear somebody say, play DVD movie using PS2 can make the PS2 damage. it true or not.

Not exactly damage the console.
It will only shorten the lifespan of the lens, because the lens would have to work 'harder' to read a dvd movie... or something like that.

That's what I heard anyway.

the theory is
when playing games the load time is sparse and not continuous(but also game dependent)
while the movie dvd, the system continue to retrive data from the disk
thats why the lens have to work harder compared to when playing games

plus the problem is compounded with the using of weaker lens(rumoured) by Sony Corps on the ps2s set

just buy a dedicated dvd player, 99 can get, better than buying a second hand lense for rm 200+

hanging is like a comman thing for the PS2. we all have hangs on ours. if it still hangs . just change the disc.

there is a batch problem with NFS : Most Wanted. a lot hangs on the NFS : Most wanted Logo Screen.

i can enter the main menu
after enter profile
start story it loads forever

When i bougth the PS2 it come with as free games, it having the same problem also, just try reset a few time & ti work until now without a prob. , now i'm play it daily & no prob with loading, just hang once while loading the blacklist 9 challenger only.

hmm i got a problem with my PS2? How come my PS2 cannot read all disk n how should i play PS1 game at PS2?

How to play PS1 games:
Depends on your modchip.

A few modchip will direct boot the PS1 game.

Some would require you to hold the reset button until the bluelight appears.

anyone encountered the red screen "Please insert Playstation or Playstation 2 disc" in loading new games? My old games works 100% okay.

red screen can be common now a days it can be this problem.

1)your ps2 is old modchip. have to change a new one
2)the Disc got problem. change another disc
3)Modchip wiring loosen. have to resolder back. (sometimes when you put too much alchahol near the chip area. (sony chip . the biggist one. [forgot whats it calls] it will show the red screen.. )

Define old..some are cd-rom based, not dvd..and if that's the case probably yours lens dead
