i think switching not nessacary as KLCI 1500++, unless switch to bond to lock profits.

both equity fund, p ittikal moderate, and the sequel expose to high risk.

cannot compare both because sequel is a new fund.

But by limited the fund to EPF investment, and nearly full subcibe, does it have effect on the unit price in future? i means that now is 0.83xx, can it perform better to 0.9 or 1.00 in a few year time?

fully subsribe the units, nothing to do with fund performance. if the holding stock price goes up, the unit price may goes up too, because the fund value goes up. and vise-versa.

lest say the total units are 10,000 with fund value Rm10,000

the unit price is RM10,000 / 10,000 units = RM1.00

if the Fund value goes up due to holding stcok price goes up, let say increase RM100,
RM10,000 + RM100 = RM10,100

so, the unit price will be (assume UIC is the same)

Rm10,100 / 10,000 units = Rm1.01

same if the fund value drop with holding stock price drop.

Just to share, since i've just done this up for a friend of mine:
PIX's & PAGF's performance for
5 & 10 years ending 13/01/2012 (so-so ending period)
5 & 10 years ending end 2010 (good ending period)
5 & 10 years ending end 2008 (bad ending period)

PFEPRF's, PFES', PSEASF's & PRSEC's performance for
3 years ending 13/01/2012 (so-so ending period)
2 years ending end 2010 (good ending period) - pls ignore the PDF's title being off a bit tongue.gif
1+ years ending end 2008 (bad ending period)
Please note that 3 and less years dug up as PSEASF just launched in 02/10/2007

Note
1. The reason of choosing different ending periods is to purposely "see" the bad times' and good times' performance.
2. Data pressed out of PM's software, FPAdvisor.
3. Use at your own risk brows.gif

Is there any money back guaranteed mutual fund available? Or at least capital protected?

Oh the JMB of my condo wanted to invest 50% of the sinking fund into FD and mutual fund. So I was wondering whether this type of mutual fund exists or not

New investor - go for a more conservative profile.

No worries, the amount I invested in PIF is not much (still within 4-digit figure smile.gif) since it's just a start for me.

I had invested into Public Mutual Fund since 2008 (an initial of ~2k and 200 more per mth, DCA). And friggiting frat - I only got 5% in total due date (notice it's not per year. counting by per year it should be like... 1% PA?)

I understand that this fund is pretty risky (80% equity), but still I think this fund is much under performed. Any input on my situation? Is it worthy for me to switch to something less risky like saving funds or something?

I thought 2008 is a good time to invest. If its only 5% for 5 years, then the fund really underperform.
I bet its not local fund as PMB don't has a good record for oversea fund maybe except for australia.

EmpireKhoo - if U really invested into Public Mutual itself, U should be laughing all the way to the bank

However, if U invested in one of Public Mutual's funds AND don't know which, you should be thanking your lucky stars it's not a negative return/loss - know the saying about "xxxxs and $ are soon parted"?
From your blog - you're working as an engineer and yet U do not state the specifics.
How are fellow forumers to digest the needed data/info and advise? doh.gif

Specifics are:
a. What fund did you get into?
b. What's your definition of "less risky"?
c. What's your aim for this chunk of $ by when?
etc.

Engineers these days... (sorry old man's ramblings notworthy.gif)

Not related to the topic but I want to add.. "Most engineers these days are document engineers, or more commonly still Facebook engineers" sorry to say...
