i am well aware of the expectations of the foaming process. In total i have spend 4K at Icecube place for 2 cars. so I know what to expect for each process

the way my car was design is the noise from the engine travels via the A pillar to the C pillar and then to the boot. Once the A pillar was done, what happen was the noise from the engine become very loud, noise from the road became very loud, and noise came from the boot area.
So we treated the fenders that help, then the back area with the spare tyre and then the firewall. All this sound proofing help to lower the noise floor quite a far bit. Before the sound proofing the sound was really unbearable.

However when i compare the noise floor with a sound pressure meter in my car and my friends stock car bought at the same time. My car is slightly nosier by 1dB. So cut the story short my car modified with foaming is 1db noiser than stock car moving thru the same road.

From what I read from the last 2 messages, we need to lower our expectations on the product? From what was advertised, the product promised to improve handling & reduce NVH.
Now end-users are claiming we have to lower expectations (win some, lose some) to get better handling but a noisier car? Seems like false advertising...

Furthermore, why does a person need to pay more for additional soundproofing when the foam is expected to reduce noise levels, although not by much, because the seller is unable to ensure all areas of the chassis is foamed completely & correctly?

Perhaps it was not install properly or just done wrongly. If the foam did not reduce noise levels i would have been fine. It did the opposite it made way worse.

maybe i was not clear, i only did the bonnet sound proofing, which was due to the original noisy diesel angines. After that, the engine sound is now quieter but then because of that, the trye sound is now more obvious. So win here, lose there...I did not expect that to solve all my "sound" problems but at least the main sound problem first. that is what i mean by managing your own expectations!!! Hope you understand that.

.. Also, when i first did the foam for the undercarriage, the noise was much quieter, which was why i decided to try the sound proofing with icecube. So far, so good, got no problems with icecube's work.

I' kinda interested, but i have some concern. Perhaps u could help to answer. What if after the foaming, the car went into an accident. Would it be impossible to recover back the damages, due to the hardened foam in the chassis?

Please help to send me a PM for answer. Thanks biggrin.gif

I think the issue here is the expectations of the consumer. I did my foaming with icecube for my ford focus recently and the handling and ride is firm and steady. Also, did the sound proofing for the front engine bonnet, now a more quieter engine but louder road noise. So, win here, lose there. I did not do the complete sound proofing so as to test the results step by step. Back to the main issue, what is the customers expectation??? smile.gif

customers expect that their ride will be like Lexus, BMW 5-series and Mers S-Class.. sweat.gif

the same thing i expect when visit KL Auto..turns out my Honda only slightly better than stock..i've spent Rm3k++ for the Autofoam comfort + soundproofing stuffs.. whistling.gif

In what ever mod, there is are pro and cons. It's the risk that the owners take. if we are afraid this and that, then for get the mod lorr... If you really want the safe one, just do it the plug and play type or simply leave it to stock and keep you money for better car. I hope everyone will not get angry..cheers...

shipping would cost higher then the product itself. And might takes months as we can only ship it by sea only.

I sent my second car for "foaming" last week, the Mitsubishi Grandis MPV. MPV is spacious but handling is not its strongest point and the body roll is very heavy. At high speeds (above 120kmh), it gets a little unstable. After the "foaming", I left the MPV for two days and just took it for a drive yesterday. The results were fantastic. Body roll is much less, quieter car and interestingly, the engine seems more responsive (not too sure why after the foaming??!). The wifey even wants me to "foam" her car next!!!. rclxms.gif . Thanks, Icecube, great job on my Grandis. Best bang for the buck!!! thumbup.gif
