i think its just a small "i'm bored" problem. but do keep an eye out as precaution, if u think the weather is cold, then its definitely too cold for the hog, let it out a lil more or set up a heating pad/fluorescence UV lamp. if the weather is hot for u then it'll be too warm for the hog, then try to keep it cooler for it such as letting it access plenty of water. but remember no direct sunlight nor noisy spots (beside tv, beside speaker, etc.). then it should be fine. however if u think a vet is necessary then do so.

haha its just their nature, they are nocturnal animals! the good part is just that they are suitable as pets because they can wake up anytime and not be grumpy (sometimes) so its normal if they sleep the whole morning and awake during night.

yeah sure u can use that wheel. just make sure there is no prolonged running cus it might hurt its feet if its too rough. maybe only put the wheel in on and off instead of everyday smile.gif especially if your hog never had a wheel before they would be too happy running and injure themselves

Speaking of wheels, what kind of size you guys get for your hedgehogs and where ? Ive visit petsmore quite often but I dont think I can find anything suitable, or there was 1 which was super pricey. Advice please, thanks.

a wheel for a hedgehog would usually range for 50~70. u can try the pet shop at sunway pyramid, if i'm not wrong its probably 1/2 floor or even ground floor. they sell both normal and the sand-paper like wheel (for shortening the nails)

well of course, u've probably scared him, if your hog makes clicking sounds, u should not touch it. its a sound of a threat, u should realise this when choosing him/her and should have picked another one.

as for your problem now, u should just suit its mood, if it is ready for handling then it wont ball up anymore, dont forcefully touch it when it already makes a threatning sound or else your problem will just continue. spend time feeding it, looking at it, let it sniff you. but just backup if it doesnt want u near it. respect the pet, and it will respect u, seriously hedgehogs somehow has human emotions smile.gif hope this helps

Hope you guys enjoy making it.
This is what I made in 3 hours, sorry for the grainy picture, took it with my iPad.

nice, but however a notable spot is, above the housing area (the white box) if the hedgehog learns to climb (which is very very likely) it could possibly climb out. and the painful part is it will happen during the night as they are noctural creatures

Is it common for hedgehog to piss and poo alot when you let them run outside their cage ? Seems like mine does that everytime i take her out to play.

Also, how big d dimention of a wheel is good ? 11-12' ? And width ?

they piss and poop anytime anywhere they want. no control no prediction. but for a male, if u see his thing getting ready, then its a sign tongue.gif

it differs for each hedgehog, if its small then a small wheel shall do, if its big then another diff story. bigger better if want it to last long, as these things can randomly grow very huge in a few months. and sometimes dont grow at all, like mine shocking.gif

its pretty normal actually, as i said last time, no matter how used to it/brave it is just give it a shock and green shit will come out, if u miss its green shit that is. for some, u can flip it up into the air and it wouldnt feel scared, for some, even a shake would cause them to be scared. yea a bigger wheel is much more future proof, else u might need to change it after few years, since they have quite a lifespan
