to be frank, u stayed in ur current department for too long. through my 2 years in the company, i jump to 4 different role. that makes u learn more stuff and also know more about the company....... I agree that we must work hard to achieve a better life or pay. But don't push ur self too hard.
It makes your life miserable. I know it because i got a friend that is like that. keep pushing and pushing. say not good enough.

where got elite? with 6-7 years exp, you should already be in at least a management equivalent role, right?

as a manager-level role wouldn't you naturally be looking at at least sgd 5-7k?

unless if you're talking about coming into SG as just an executive-level staff, then yes I'd agree that 3-4k would be a ... reasonable amount.

Marine/ OnG industry. But i dont expect a white collar fella to cope with the demands of the job. In my previous company, 2 out of 3 potential employees will resign within the first 6 months since most cant stand the job and the environment. Working inside a ship tank where the humidity is like a sauna, the ambient temperature hovers around 40 C, you need to work at height climbing ladders nearly 5 stories high and doing this for 5-9 hours straight everyday. Plus your exposed to confined spaces and the danger that explosions may happen, lack of oxygen or being poisoned by H2S is an ever present danger.

I have little hope that pencil pushers would last even a month before giving up. There was one singaporean guy who just finished NS, went to work for just one day and that was the last we ever saw of him.

Marine is 2nd only to construction and the number one hazard is either you falling from somewhere or something falling onto you.

I start at 9, i Normally leave my house in Taman Ehsan Jaya (near Austin and Tebrau area) at 7:45am. reach causeway at 8am.
queue until 8:20 and will go through. will reach office around 8:30-8:35.
today i need to do OT and need to start at 8. I leave my house at 6:45, reach causeway 6:55 (less traffic in JB).
but the queue is crazy... cars piling up until Malaysia Kastam. Bikes also very bad. I only manage to clear kastam at 7:55 and reach office at 8:10am.
The jam at SLE also bad compare to later time.
Normally for cars, around 8am there is not much queue. I believe bcoz JB start to Jam around 8am coz most johorean going to work and those working in SG will leave very very early.

PS: I am on bike fyi.

its a matter of what price people are going to pay u only. if u can accept a $1.5-$1.6k job. no problem getting a job in SG.

Secret road? Only for those boys who don't know how to read map and typical Kia** people. That's why have normal, secret and secret-secret route...

they refer to causeway. Just drive into SG as per normal (where most people do), the so call secret people will cut your lane from the left at the last traffic light and the secret-secret people will cut in from overhead at the slope entering CIQ building.

Tuas is on the HW, you need to dig tunnel or cut fence for secret route.

How can it be a Malaysian can't buy a house in Malaysia? Just look at the causeway and tuas every morning. They are riding bike, taking bus or driving SG plate car daily.

For those PR or SG with Hdb, they can buy house after staying in HDB for 5 years. If they sell their existing hdb and buy another hdb then they need to sell away their private property within 6 month and not allowed to buy any house for the next 5 year. that's what the SG gov said not sure how they execute it.

RM 100k can get you a car but not any apartment in JB. Best to rent a few month till you are very sure you want to buy a Jb property. Most Property  there are overpriced to chop SG carrot head, you need to do your own homework to get a value for money unit.
