Sorry guys ... just came in.

One possibility the guy forgot to ask the golden question.
"Free AF for this card?"

One thing to note for the MBB WMC, the AF is not charged immediately. It takes a few months before the AF appears into the statement. Thus that's why the guy thinks the AF is waived. The fact that he's being charged RM1.5K, probably the initial decision was led by the idea of free MAS golden lounge. (Non lounge AF is RM1K) Most of the time from my experience with the sales rep, they will downplay the AF question coz not easy to get people to sign up but good for their sales target. If asked, they will tell you the truth about the AF - I have yet to encounter any sales reps in person and CS on the phone who will say that the AF is waiverable for the 1st year for this particular card.

I need to emphasize the free MAS golden lounge because MAS golden lounge does not exist all over the world (London-Heathrow, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Singapore. In Malaysia, they are located at the Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching airports. Also you can enter the local MAS golden lounge which is almost all local airports) + you need to be flying with MAS to begin with. If you are flying with other airlines and want to use the MAS lounge then sorry. You cannot use the card to enter partner lounges. This is what the sales reps would not tell you because in 99% of the time they don't know and they think MAS lounges exist all over the world. (Well ... hypothetically correct) At least it is good if you are flying out from KL.

In this aspect, the SCB VISA Infinite would score better in terms of lounge access. (As everyone know lounge access is via the Priority Pass) Quality of lounge .... depending on your luck lah. Coz 90% of the time is via 3rd party lounge and not the airline lounge itself. (e.g MY - Plaze Premium Lounge, SG - Rainforest / Skyview Lounge, TH - Louis Tavern CIP, SK -Hub Lounge/KAL Lounge)

One critical info is that MBB is very strict on the approval criteria of this card. You won't get this card if the bank think you cannot afford it and no nonsense on the income eligibility - must to at least being able to pay the RM1.5K 1st year AF fee and (perhaps) spends a lot of money to get the AF waiver in lieu of the RM1.5K AF. Probably the guy has huge CL with other cards or/and holding premium cards. Likely affordability is not a question ... but wants the AF to be waived similar to other cards.

Sorry not this card. Not even when you are a MBB Premier customer or higher ... at least on the 1st year AF. And CS will tell you point blank ... AF is not waiverable. Speak to whoever you wish to speak and the answer is NO.
And ... I am not sure why anyone would just put down their signature on the form. It's akin to signing a blank cheque. It is the person's fault for not reading the T&C and fine print. I don't agree to bother BNM just to cover a person own negligence. No ongoing promos for this card to waive AF, form clearly state AF fee structure and bank will impose it. Not whatsoever indication the AF would not be imposed unlike other cc form + they use original forms and not photostat version of the form.

I can confirm that there's no 1st year AF waiver on this card irrespective whether there's a Golden Lounge or not. The basic feature of the card include Hilton Premium Club membership (you can't remove this) which is about RM648 per annum. 2nd year AF is waiverable at either RM150K spending per annum for base card and RM250K spending for MAS lounge access card.
P/S Emm ... why lah me the choice to answer this question ?

Because nobody here can give a better answer besides you smile.gif

I was told by CS it's RM100k and RM120k, not 150 and 250. Can you confirm this?

I can confirm it is RM 100k & RM 120k respectively for the MBB WMC annual fee reimbursement. Verified by the officer offering me the pre-approved WMC last year as well as two other WMC CS officers.

That's what the telemarketer told me (in the range of RM100K for non Golden Lounge option) when they call me up to offer the card early this year BUT it's not black and white and since I don't fly MAS, no diff to me.

Although there is no official black & white agreement on the reimbursement of WMC annual fees, but I did received an email stating about the eligibility amount for annual fees reimbursement from the officer/telemarketeer offering me the pre-approved card.

that's great, the email is good enough.

Talking about annual fee waiver, My MBB Plat MC annual fee is due soon. So few days back I asked the CS if they could waive my annual fee, at first she said that I have to wait for it to be shown in the Statement. So I said something like, if I cannot get a confirmation, I am not going to use the card further. She then asked to to wait, after few seconds on hold, she said the annual fee will be waived. Spent less than RM10K or maybe even RM5K with the MBB Plat MC, so I am happy with MBB.

It is not the matter of "activated or not", it was you who applied for the card. The CS is correct that "once approved, GST applies".

I second that. I wonder what is everyone thinking when they apply the credit card just for the fun of it then wanting to cancel the card when it is approved ??

Folks ... GST is payable the moment the card is approved had you apply for it. No need to wait to activate the card. This is outlined in BNM regulations for the GST implementation just in case anyone thinking to complain to BNM asking them to force the bank to pay the GST for you to the govt.

Don't want the card or not sure then don't apply.

I think I know why.
Some people signed on the dotted line just because of the free gifts offered by the card agent.
You know, there are some people really don't know about this GST thingy until it appears in the statement.

+1

the only thing they will look into is the free gift and forget the most important thing

I disagree if they want to feign ignorance about the GST. I mean they got the free gift (and intentionally want the free gift) and suddenly want to cancel card only to find out that GST need to pay.

Not to sound mean but in such cases they got their intentions wrong to begin with.

To be fair, i think the poster's scenario could be this. He applied for the card but never receive it. After feeling fedup with this problem, he decided to cancel it altogether and perhaps apply from another issuer. Let's face it, this sort of things do happen, thanks to the mailing service.

It's a different stort altogether if he actually receives the card and wanna cancel. So let's wait for the poster's clarification smile.gif

My problem is that I forgot mah password for the Verified by Visa process, and it says that it locked mah account.

My question is, how to unlock it?

I called Maybank, wasted rm20 on it because they keep connecting me to other department...

Please can anyone tell me the proper procedure...

VfV for MBB debit cards is done through M2U and a password isn't needed unless you had forgot your M2U password. And BTW, wrong thread. laugh.gif
