You see it here, ONLY in Malaysia shakehead.gif

(I think so, not sure about the truth though icon_rolleyes.gif )

Foreign ISP may not even give chance for their customer to complain because their service is up to expectation. This is not the case with TM. Yea... Unifi... Fast? Oh yea! It's fast... sometimes... maybe... 50% of the time... maybe... umm... 10% of the time, depends on natural phenomenon(earthquake and then no better routing), animal behaviour(sharks bite cables! laugh.gif ), equipment characteristic(DIR615, TMRND... ...) ... ... ... ... ...

Well... One thing I don't understand. Especially equipment part. Why ISP @ other country, SG for example can provide so high quality equipment while TM can't? (I only read from their website but they din't fail to show me something. I can't see anything from DIR615, the black TMRND do look a bit better though. DIR615 100% look cheap especially when compared to 841ND now placing side-by-side) Well... For the price, I'd really hope that TM can look into TP-Link for their equipment. TMRND is not doing something good (I see lots of surge protector from their website though...), D-link is failing their customer too. Why bother further partnering with D-link? Asus, TP-Link all are better performers out there and they care to provide support! Maybe is TM development team to be blamed for their rubbish firmware? The interface is tooooo sluggish in DIR615. Only thing I could say is good about DIR615 now is just the SharePort utility, for printer, not mass storage device. It's transferring rate through wifi-N is only close to 1MB/s (when writing to a thumbdrive connected to usb port on it). Printing is fine though as the files to be printed are small. Other than that, sorry but only complaints...

1 Gig file complete in 6 minutes?

QUOTE(jolmy @ Oct 23 2011, 12:12 AM)
There is nothing wrong with UniFi actually.

But the TM DNS server is lagging, it affects all TM subscribers - UniFi, Streamyx, etc.

Use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 for the time being. It will resolve the problem you're facing. But if it doesn't, then you probably have other issues with your connection.

Don't be bothered. Same thing happened to me YESTERDAY. They called on Wednesday but I did not pick up. Then they called again on Thursday. This time I manage to pick up. They confirmed my appointment on Saturday 9:30am (yesterday) as if I am going to lock my house and run away.

Then Saturday came. I waited from 9:30am to 1pm but nothing happened. Unfortunately their Customer Service is off on Saturday. Couldn't wait anymore (because I am suppose to work on that day), so I left to work.

Sharp at 1:35pm the person from UNIFI called. He said, "sorry, lambat SEDIKIT". mad.gif
Reason given was because he had another 2 places to go. Then why fix appointment at 9:30am if you have something else to do at that time?

I asked to cancel installation. This is 2nd time happening. 1st was when I installed for my office. They fixed appointment at 12pm but came at nearly 5pm when the office was closing. I end up sitting at the office until nearly 9pm because of them.

These F***ers.....haih.....but when I pay late, the next day they already call me asking for money doh.gif

What should I do? Pay the extra charges 1st and hope TM will pay me back the extra (i think around rm200).

Hi all, good day to you.

I'm looking to get the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND or the TL-WR941ND routers to use with my unifi. The question is do these routers work with Unifi and IPTV, and if yes, are there any specific firmware updates that need to be done on the routers?

I've looked around the Unifi thread, but I'm getting mixed comments about them working / not working. If someone with firsthand experience could provide some insight it would be really helpful.

Thanks and cheers!

PS: Im really just looking for a router with very good wireless coverage and penetration, reliable and steady performance. If you guys have a better preferred router do let me know. Cheers!

IMO, wait for one week or so (do they give u a deadline?) and see how TM responds. Else, complain to MCMC saying that you already have your unifi terminated, what for you keep the streamyx and tell them that TM promised to terminate streamyx after your unifi installation, just blame everything on TM. Don't forget to mention the lawsuit filed on you which shouldn't be happening.

Erm... In short, 1043 and 941 both are not ALL-In-One-Replacement for DIR615/TMRND(black router made by TM). With 1043 and 941, you can ONLY get Internet working by flashing them with DDWRT (allows ONLY Single Vlan Tagging while you need two different vlan tag for IPTV and internet) That means if you want to replace the DIR615/TMRND with this, it's completely impossible. DDWRT is sort of open source firmware that is not from TP-Link but from the community. TP-link doesn't make a CUSTOMIZED UNIFI FIRMWARE for both 1043 and 941. They only made it for 841 and default firmware on W8960 that supports vlan tagging on stock firmware.

What you can do here are:

1) Buy 1043/941, just hook them up after DIR615/TMRND (means DIR615/TMRND --> 1043/941) where your IPTV is still connected to DIR615. This way, your DIR615 is acting as a bridge that does the vlan tagging, 1043/941 only as Access Point (AP).

2) Buy 1043/941, flash with DDWRT, you lose IPTV

3) All-in-one, TP-link 841ND/W8960N Asus RT-N13/16/56.

Looking at coverage, I can't comment much because I have only DIR615 and TP-link + I'm using in condo. No significant coverage problem but only signal strength problem. Technically, TP-link 841 with 5dBi antenna gain should be the strongest of all but 1043 and 941 comes with 3T2R mimo while 841 only 2T2R but it's 3dBi instead of 5dBi. Something hard to calculate here. See any sifus can help out.
