Hi, just installed Unifi VIP5 today.

Here are my speed test. Is it okie?
I notice most forumer have small ping result. Anyway to improve?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
with this constant speed between 550 - 580 (sometime jumped to 600+),

5 Gig file will be finished by 150 minutes.

movie DL test :-

Attached Image

if I upgrade to 20 mbps, 5 gig file will be finished by 150 minutes/4 = 37.5 minutes;

provided that same scenario as above.

QUOTE(KennyKB @ Sep 28 2011, 04:45 PM)
Right. Some of the download quota imposed by local ISPs are really GILA! 15GB? 20GB? 30GB? What's the point of high speed if you can't download anything with it? Just for normal surfing you can use up 0.5 GB a day or 15GB a month and that is just for one user. Our local ISPs have lost touch of how little a GB is these days with content rich internet. And remember their data calculation is based on download + upload.
*
This is new to me. which provider so bangang to include upload also?
mind to share, KennyKB?

For Unifi, according to UNIFI website, download quota only.

QUOTE
http://www.unifi.my/unifi/index.php?option...d=51&Itemid=203

VIP5 package comes with 60GB monthly download volume.
VIP10 package comes with 90GB monthly download volume.
VIP20 package comes with 120GB monthly download volume.
The monthly download volume will not be implemented until further notice.
There will be no volume capping for UniFi’s SME packages.
I'll go to TMPoint to get Unifi leaflet.

u will not be charge RM200 if they are the one miss the appointment date.
BTW, TM should make their customer being informed in stead of customer calling them on appointment status.

Buy a premium account (I'm using Filesonic), only then u'll see tremendous DL speed from file sharing site.

I'm on VIP5, with Filesonic Premium, my DL speed is in the average of 580KBps (90% from 5 Mbps).

Downloading 7 - 8 Gig movies per night quite normal for me nowadays.

bye bye torrent.

CODE
TIPS

1. Use Jdownloader [URL=http://jdownloader.org/]http://jdownloader.org/[/URL]

2. Set download chunk/connection per file = 20 chunks

3. No 2 only applicable if u got premium account

QUOTE(Pain_X @ Oct 3 2011, 02:53 PM)
Hey guys, new 10 MBps user here. The workers came over and fixed it today morning.

Im a little disappointed with the download speed though. Internet speed test shows speed of 9.8 Mb/s download and 8.8 upload, but when i tried a test download of a movie from megaupload, the speed is very slow. Tried it with fileserve/filesonic,im getting speeds of about 300 KB/s. Im using Internet Download Manager to download btw.

I know 300 KB/s is still quite fast, but im paying for 10 MB/s and was hoping for at least 500 KB/s. Any idea why its like this? sad.gif

Thanks in advance
*
QUOTE(Pain_X @ Oct 3 2011, 03:14 PM)
Seriously? Thats a massive kick in the balls. So roughly what kind of speeds can i expect for normal filesharing sites?

Thanks for the reply smile.gif

QUOTE(blackdollie @ Oct 3 2011, 03:15 PM)
are u filesonic/fileserve 's premium user?
*
QUOTE(Pain_X @ Oct 3 2011, 03:17 PM)
Nope sad.gif
Just a normal user. I want to try the normal firefox click link download after this instead of using IDM and see if there is any difference. Will torrents be better? I remember it being throttled badly..
*
QUOTE(brotan @ Oct 3 2011, 05:41 PM)
bro,

normally non premium customer the speed are cap by the storage service provider, not by TM

hey guy ,unifi got minimum payment every month? because that day i use house phone to call out for rm 1.45 then the out standing need to pay is rm 11.45 may i know the rm 10 is what charges, is it every month once i use the house phone then they will charge me on the rm 10 or how? please advice me.
*
details breakdown of charges in your Unifi Bill.

If that is your 1st bill (RM11.45 excluding Unifi charges), RM10 can be the stamp duty.

*
confirm stamp duty - RM10.

If charge every month RM10 for stamp duty, our BN government become more rich bro.

thank for advice, i was wondering only, how about the 6gb download per month is that mean after exceed 6gb quota will be any charges? or the download speed will slow only.
*
VIP5 = 60 G DL quota

1. If TM belongs to Ananda Krishnan of Maxis/Astro, absolutely kena charge for exceeding the quota.
http://bit.ly/TM-belongs-to-Ananda-Krishnan

Make more money from users who loves downloading, why not?
Additional revenue, incremental revenue out of nothing
Good for shareholders, Good for investors.

2. Since TM is GLC, no need charge la for exceeding quota. Social responsibility. "Rakyat didahulukan"

hahaha. rclxm9.gif

This is my download speed - Filesonic Premium account - right now, tonite.

In term of average - 580 KBps (roughly 90% from subscribed speed of Unifi VIP5).
600KBps sometimes got.

Attached Image

another 1 screenshoot, 580 KBps is the normal speed I got with Premium Account.

ps:

BTW, my DNS is OpenDNS in stead of TM or Google.

I am aware that I cannot enjoy the HD resolution.

Can I watch all the channel in Unifi provided ?

Will the STB / Unifi detect my TV is not Full HD or HD-Ready and Block the content ?

The only free channel in HD is LUKE TV.
The rest in SD.
Want HD channel, buy separately, price/channel.

First you are given RM500 tax relief for internet; assuming your effective (after all reliefs and  deductions) tax rate is 15%, then the tax savings works out to be RM75 per year.

Now if you have VIP5 at RM149/month = RMRM1788/year; 6% tax = RM107.30.

And why those prepaid mobile users don't have to pay 6% tax?
*
QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 12 2011, 02:33 PM)
Why prepaid mobile user have to?

Afterall, we should ask, why do we pay 6%? I really doubt the need for us to pay 6%. Why don't they charge 6% from telco instead of end user? WHY?
*
QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 12 2011, 03:26 PM)
I got no comment on those restaurant but just telcos

They're making a large margin of profit from us and now want us to bear that 6%? But restaurant also la == Like mamak! Sugar rise few tenth cents, the rise the price of each Teh tarik 20 cents. Don't tell me you make 2~5 teh tarik with 1kg of sugar...

Should stop here. A bit related to politic.  laugh.gif

correct bro, Najib oredi give RM500 income tax relief on broadband for BUDGET 2010 starting from assesment Year 2010 to 2012.

& then suddenly to tax 6% for internet to subscribers.

Tak kena la.

Next time, call TM 100 or Ministry of Finance for clarification,

QUOTE(jolmy @ Oct 23 2011, 12:12 AM)
There is nothing wrong with UniFi actually.

But the TM DNS server is lagging, it affects all TM subscribers - UniFi, Streamyx, etc.

Use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 for the time being. It will resolve the problem you're facing. But if it doesn't, then you probably have other issues with your connection.

How is the speed around BU?
