i saw it in xda sgs2 general discussion, it's been removed or deleted. Raffa-the rom owner also didn't know why it's been removed.
*
the MODS has yet to reply why Bastita rom thread was removed. I know since last week he has launch complains against another cook Infusion, saying his rom was being copied and Infusion just theme it and post it as a new rom. Infusion has apologized many times in his thread and admitted that he did not get Bastita approval . XDA mods had said they will investigate. Now both Bastita and Infusion roms are deleted - no reasons given.

Please refer Page 1 Post#5 : ALL the BASICS are there. TUTORIAL : My Guide on How to ROOT using Supercurio kernel ?
I have listed the PC software requirements and all the steps. Just follow it exactly. The tutorial while written to flash Supercurio kernel is SAME as flashing other roms. I suggest you start to learn to flash using Litening 5.0. So just replace all references to Supercurio and replace it with Litening specifics

Flashing Litening will give you : AUTO root, install Clockworkmod recovery and Litening rom itself

After you have successfully flash LItening, boot into recovery mode with phone off : Vol up+home=power button simultaneously
Some roms required you to flash only thro recovery, while some require you to use Odin

If you just want to root only , than either use Superoneclick or flash supercurio kernel. Flashing Supercurio is easier
Your rom will remain intact. Rooting will NOT delete any data

Let me use a car as an example
Rooting is the KEY to access your car so that you can open your bonnet to tinker/tweak the engine
KERNEL is the ignition starter - the interface between you and the car engine
FIrmware/Rom is your car engine

In order to root, you need a UNSECURED kernel . All process whether is through SOC or using rom flashing has to installed a unsecured kernel first before the phone can be rooted. SOC is just a software to root the kernel. Flashing the kernel eg using Supercurio do it in one step - install unsecure kernel and root same time. That's why I said use Supercurio is easiest way

As the phone kernel afterv root is in unsecure mode, when you boot the phone you will see a YELLOW triangle,. This si Samsung internal process to displaty kernel has been tampered with and is in a unsecured state. To fget rid of this yellow traingle, flash back stock kernel or with phone off, plugin the JIG. ALL these stuffs I have listed in Page 1

I also started knowing ZERO about these stuffs. What I did is just research, google and read XDA ( like reading bible). And to help fellow users, I started this thread. And I am still learning new stuffs every day from XDA and from other users in this forum. Stuffs I think useful I will posts it up in the first 7 posts

HI, I am planning to get the SGSII. This will be my first Android phone. I have spent a lot of time researching before deciding to jump into this ecosystem. But I still have some questions about it:

1) In Digi's 12month contract plan, it states we get unlimited internet for 68RM per month.

I asked Digi sales rep if there are any qoutas when using the net, and if I will get billed extra. He said I can use the net as much as I want for RM 63.

For me this is too good to be true. And I really doubt it is. So anyone that can clarify this?

2) I have seen people opening threads saying they can't buy paid apps from the Android market without 'rooting' their phones.

I am totally new to the concept of rooting, and even after doing some lengthy research I am still abit dazed. There are so many ROMs how do we know which ones are good? Doesn't the Android Market work for Malaysia or do we have to flash our ROM to a firmware of a different location for us to get the Apps to work??? Any good ROMs you would recommend to a beginner that also allows you to install non-free apps??

From Maxis - firmware is Asian ( DX, or DZ). From retail is same if is from SME. If is 3rd party import than firmware is different region. AFAIK most 3rd party imports are from Europe
You want peace of mind/security of claims - get from SME or from Maxis
There is no difference on rooting methods and flashing. You can flash any country firmware/modem on your set if you wish

Uncle Benny,

i think its a bit unfair to other telco. why only limit to Maxis? what about Celcom or Digi? smile.gif

FORGET everything about SE because if you don't you will be confusing yourself. SE is just like a handicapped old man with walking stick while the SGS2 is Usain Bolt

Baseband is commonly refer to the phone modem/wireless/3G data features. The baseband comes with the rom
The Samsung phone has lots of flexibility in flashing; you can I always say, have a rojak mix - use a firmware from Chinas, use Europe modem and use any kernel you wish. There is no limit on how you want to combine these. For those who are nervous, I will just say stick with what is being offered by the rom cook
If you are adventurous, you can at anytime change the baseband or kernel ; all these will not wipe your phone
