QUOTE(stormlcc @ Aug 10 2011, 09:48 AM)
it's a dual core phone, if it's not smooth and responsive then what's the purpose of dual core?

this is a simple story on a noob trying to root:

my friend (who's a girl) actually love this phone so much, she bought it, tested the stock ROM for half a day and decided to root and flash custom ROM on her own!  and she's not a techie, she doesn't has any experience in android whatsoever!  she spent 2 days reading all the technical stuff (she said thank god her english is good enough) and then tried rooting it.  first time she got it right (rooting done, no flashing yet).  then don't know why when turning the phone to landscape mode the whole UI lagged like hell.  it happens every time it switches to landscape.  so she un-root it the other day, did a factory reset and then re-root it AGAIN!  after she root her phone the 2nd time (in 2 days...) she was stuck on what to do because she doesn't know whether it's rooted or not since she forgot to flash a file on Odin (i forgot what file already).  she obviously has no idea how to test the phone to see whether it's rooted and panicked....she called me.

after i tested it on terminal emulator and some apps that needs root access, i confirmed it is rooted.  the next step (obviously) is flashing custom roms, so she did that on her own (with me by her side)....she said later when she got bored she'll OC it... thumbup.gif

damn that girl has balls...errr...not real ones obviously but RESPECT  notworthy.gif

i hope my gf will have the BALLs like this girl to really explore her s2, then we will have more android stuff to do together lol.. thumbup.gif .

i saw it in xda sgs2 general discussion, it's been removed or deleted. Raffa-the rom owner also don't know why it's been removed.

I think the case can be odered and replaced but dont think it will be covered by warranty as it's not manufacturing defect :-(
But who knows, just go and try ask the service centre first. Hopefully you'll be lucky :-)
*
lol, it's under wear and tear sure need to pay for the case, but just wandering after the replacement, the warranty still valid?

Hi guys,

I am with litening 5.0 now with stock kernal kg6, but i realised that my cwm did not work when i tried thw vol up home and power up method

it goes to android recovery system

any idea?
*
i guess it could be because when you flashed you stock kernel, the cmw was also wiped.

you may try this(i always use this method whenever flash new rom with odin):

1.use odin to flash back cf-root kernel (you will have the triangle icon again but no worries), you will now get back the CWM app.
2.unzip your stock kernel KG6 in your PC, then you will see a "zImage" file. place the zImage file to you i9100's sdcard in whatever folder you like.
3.use the CMW app <flash kernel> NOT <flash update> to flash the stock kernel KG6"zImage" (the triangle will be gone, but you still have the CWM app)
4.[optional], now you can use the """flash kernel""" to flash whatever custom kernel you like without having the triangle issue (must unzip to get the zImage and place it to your sdcard).

note: the <flash kernel> is done in the CWM app( just open it in your apps drawer!!) !! NOT in CWM with vol up home and power up method

i learn it from ChainFire on his: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

and this also covers in the 1st page Q&A of this thread (thanks to Uncle Benny). tongue.gif

ps: learn to search and read.

flash to official 2.3.4 build ( XXKG6) will wipe all the data?
*
yes: "You will lose all your data, so backup important stuffs first. If your phone is rooted, use Titanium Backup. It just tales 5-10 minutes to load back all your installed apps/data etc. Only widgets on screen you have to manually set it back"

Now using batista 3.5 and quite amaze with the difference compare with litening rom.anyone that plan not to wipe their data, batista is one of the rom to be flash.but remember to backup using tb first as out uninstall bunch of stuff include polaris office.lucky I made backup
*
i tried this rom last few days, but the battery drained due the maps running in background even after signed out the latitude which didnt happen in my Litening. so flashed back to litening 3.2.

now trying cognition 1.40 icon_idea.gif

Hi thanks,

I followed your step, after i flash the CF Kernal, i can access the cwm but after i flash the stock kg6 kernal through cwm app 'flash kernal' the triangle icon dissapear but i still couldnt get to the cwm.
*
ok, you still have the CWM Manager app to "flash kernel" zImage? i think stock kernel doesn't have cmw(i never use stock kernel with this), but now you can use this "flash kernel" to flash custom kernel (zimage) like cf-root, nipo(i highly suggest) or others.. without having triangle icon and will have the CWM (volumup+home+lock)

if your point is to dismiss the triangle icon and dont mind using custom kernels which mostly contain CWM then you should now know what to do.
if your point is to use stock kernel with CWM then i cant help (but what is the point to use stock kernel if you have other better?)

Yes, i do still have the cwm app in my desk.

I dont quite get you, do you mean i could flash CF kernal now tru cwm to get the cwm back without getting the yellow sign?

Im with stock kernal now...
*
ok, since you have CWM Manager app in your desk, then continue this way:

1.unzip stock kernel in your pc to get "zImage" and put it in your sdcard (create a folder named StockKernelKG6 and put it in)
2.unzip cf-root kernel in your pc to get "zImage" and put it in your sdcard (create a folder named CF-RootKernel and put it in)
3.use CWM app in your desk to do "flash kernel"
4.choose the "zImage" in your folder: /StockKernelKG6/ to flash then it will reboot, and after rebooting
5.use CWM app in your desk to do "flash kernel"
6.choose the "zImage" in your folder: /CF-RootKernel/ to flash then it will reboot.

step 4.=get rid of triangle
step 6.=get cf-root kernel and its CWM

triangle will be gone, you will have CF-Root Kernel comes with CWM, done!!

then from now on, if you flash any updates, roms, kernels via "CWM", the triangle wont show up unless you use "odin" to flash. if you happen to have touched "odin" then repeat the above steps you have learnt.

i always keep each kernel's zImage in my sdcard like:

/sdcard/kernels/Stockkernel/zImage
/sdcard/kernels/nipo2.0.5/zImage
/sdcard/kernels/cfrootKG6/zImage
/sdcard/kernels/whateverkernel/zImage

then flash via CWM Manager app whenever i like without triangle issues. but i now got USBjig brows.gif
